♫ THE NEW MUSIC REVIEW ♫

♫ Gorilla Zoe feat. Sean Kingston – On the Corner (full) – listen
Check out Gorilla Zoe’s first single from his new album, Don’t Feed the Animals, which will hit stores some time in September. I was actually interested to see what Zoe was going to do with his first single for the second album because of the huge success of “Hood Figga.” I was pleasantly surprised by “On the Corner.” I like the fact that Zoe signed Sean Kingston up to sing the hook – I think that’s my favorite part of the song. “On the Corner” is very radio friendly and I think it should be a really good look for him.

♫ Sean Garrett feat. Pharrell Williams – Patron (full) – listen
Sean Garrett, who has produced and written countless hits for so many artists is gearing up to release his new album, Turbo 919. Although I absolutely hated the first single, “Grippin’ On the Bed,” featuring Ludacris, the new material that has leaked from the album is not so bad. “Patron,” for example, which is produced by The Neptunes is a smooth track. I’m not sure whether or not I like it because of Sean Garrett, or because of the touch that Pharrell adds to the jam. I’ve always been a fan of The Neptunes’ work, so I think that could be why I’m so into this new song.

♫ LL Cool J feat. Trey Songz – Girl, If I (full) – listen
Check out this new jam from LL Cool J, with the self-proclaimed Prince of VA, Trey Songz. His new album, Exit 13 is set to drop July 8th. It seems like this album is shaping up to be similar to his release, Todd Smith, with a slew of guest features. Every song that I’ve seen that’s leaked so far is featuring someone. Exit 13 will be the last album that LL releases via Def Jam, so he needs to go out with a bang, and honestly, “Girl, If I” left me a little cold.

♫ Rihanna – Disturbia (full) – listen
I know I’m late on this, but I was having computer problems, but I wanted to post this for whoever didn’t have it. This is the second single from Rihanna’s Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded. I never thought that a label would put so much money into a rerelease of an album, because apparently, they’re shooting a video for the new track. I’m cool with “Take A Bow,” but I’m not too sure about this “Disturbia” track. It’s been said that Rihanna wrote this herself – and maybe that has a little something to do with it.

  2. JUICYCHIEFF

Rihanna sit your child ass DOWN…why do you have to be a pain in the ass with your worthless bad talent. She so wants to be a Beyonce imitation LOLLLLLL…

  3. Christena Dior .

It’s been said that Chris Brown co wrote Disturbia with her. So that’s prolly why it sounds like Forever. Lol. I don’t like Sean Garett’s voice it’s like 2 cats outside fucking in the middle of the night. :)

  4. Dame(Usher Here I Stand is like Jayz Kingdom Come they grew up but ppl don't understand)

@119 Usher did say that Raheem DeVaughn wrote Love You Gently on 106 last week.

    yall know nothing about music….
the sean garrett song is too clean and classic…listen to his ride and lyrics…he doesnt rhyme…he is an advanced song writer…strictly cadence and swag…
usher cd-mediocre..regardless of maturity…he didnt say nothing over our head…

jay-z-kingdom come-over young minded folks head and easily better than american gangster

lloyd-street love and ginuwine-100% ginuwine are the best r&b cd’s in the past 10yrs…street love just beat out confessions

    Jus wondering….
Shouldn’t it be ok for some people to like a certain song and ok for others to disagree?
We all have different taste. So when someone sais disturbia is hot! Den it is to them. But as soon as someone does not like a song, they are called a hater? Is this serious? Many of Rihanna’s single’s I have enjoyed, and yes the girl is doin her thing, not mad at her at all. Disturbia was just not it for me. But just coming back to read people saying that we all haters is just crazy to me!

  7. Rake

#125 BOTH American Gangster AND Kingdom Come sucked. There was nothing mature or highly intellectual about either record…I don’t understand why people would like to make this point…rationalizing that pathetic commercial shit as mind blowing. Stop insulting people…

  8. 1. I’m feeling Zoe!

    2. I didn’t like Disturbia when I heard it before but it grew on me.

  9. Think

When there are too many black crabs in a bucket it is bound to be a hellish experience. When beyonce re released her wack as child’s play written by crack heads album that sold about 2 copies it was praised as the best thing since grits. You black crabs are too delusional for me. Give Rihanna her props, she is doing the damn thing. While the rest of you are just wanting on your stimulus check from uncle sam to pay rent. Yall really need to stop the hating shit and give all the artist their props and get up off your broke, negative, delusional asses.

  10. domini_02

    @THINK
    EXACTLY

Beyonce WISHES she had the personality and COURAGE RIhanna has, she was hiding behind and using others as PROPS when she was Rihanna’s age. GO RI~

  15. Nothing But Love

    @ #129 aka THINK

    EXACTLY………

  16. Pink Retros

Rihanna song is annoying at the least.Pop stations would eat his garbage up.Sean Garrett, I have no comment.Don’t know about LL song.Music is crap anyways these days.

Lol at the post turning to Usher/JayZ post.To be honest, Kingdom Come wasn’t impressive at all, niether was American Gangster.Growth?No.Usher album isn’t impressive either.

  17. Rake

#134 ummm yeah…you’re pseudointellectual, aren’t you? maybe you should expand yours if you think an extended metaphor is anything more than rudimentary… “Kingdom Come” was filth…accept it…you’re making yourself look like a fool.

  18. I TALK,YOU LISTEN

if you have never own a Raheem Dauvghn Cd wouldn’t know, what I am talking about anyway…listen to love you gently and then listen RD’s CD, you can tell by the runs and signature adlibs that Usher is mimicking RD….but Usher has a WAAAAy better voice, it sounds great on him.

Carry on, I gotta check out Ashanti now…

  19. Richaay

Brian, ur losing the proper perspective… Take a Bow is naff…. and for some one so heavily promoted who isn;t that good vocally, she has style going for her for sure and she is great to market… but for her to write a song that is catchy like this… it is greattt…

  20. jscene

LL IS THE KING OF RAP AND KANYE IS THE PRINCE.

  21. Don't sleep on Trey or LL

Man yall need to wake up! LL is a Legend and still can kill most of these cats in the game! Trey songz and LL on the same track…sick.

Sean Garret tell him to jump off a damn cliff! That Ni**a might sound better if he had a hole in his throat!

  22. Crystal

A lot of you seem a bit “surprised” that she wrote the song, or some of it, whatever. But on her first album she did a good amount of writing.
