Wow. I was really surprised when I heard this new track from Musiq Soulchild, which just made it’s way to radio this week. It definitely wasn’t what I expected, but I guess 2008 is the year for folks to be switching it up. Even John Legend changed it up a bit, but even his new single with Andre isn’t a huge departure from his previous material – it doesn’t seem far-fetched like this does. This song is unlike anything Musiq has ever recorded before, and I’m really wondering how his loyal fan base is going to react to the new single, “Radio.” More information about his upcoming project as it is released.

Check out the official remix of Mariah’s third single from her 11th studio album, E=MC², “I’ll Be Lovin’ U Long Time,” featuring T.I. Mariah has been hammering out remixes like none other. The track was produced by DJ Toomp, who is responsible for countless tracks for both Jeezy and T.I.P. The video for the song was recently shot in Hawaii, and supposedly features that rapper.

Here’s some new music from Gorilla Zoe, from his forthcoming LP, Don’t Feed the Animals, which is due out September. I actually like the new single that Zoe has with Sean Kingston, but this doesn’t compare to the new single. In any event, I’m hoping that this is just from the sessions and isn’t going to be appearing on the new album.

So excited to see new music leaking from my boys, The Clipse! I have actually been a fan of them since their first album, Lord Willin’ dropped, and even though it took ages for Hell Hath No Fury to come out, I was still right there, ready to buy. Even though the twins have leaked this new song, I’m very surprised that this song isn’t produced by The Neptunes. For their albums, they’ve never worked with anyone else. Maybe this is just something to create a buzz.

I luv the beat of Musiq’s new joint but I think his vocals mixed w/these “main stream lyrics” will take me a few listens to get used to it. Definitely a step in a totally diff. direction but hey…2008 is the year of New Beginnings!
im sorry but musiq song radio is actually pretty good…ive been a fan of his since his first album and even tho this is different for him i like it…i doubt his whole album is gonna sound like this..but this is pretty hot…

I been a fan of Musiq since the beginning….This record isnt for him… not believable…now for a Lloyd, or a group like I-15, it might work. I think R&B music is switching gears tho and crunk-type tracks like this arent whats hot anymore….

I am orginally from Philadelphia, Pa, Musiq’s hometown. Now I attend Spelman College in Atlanta, GA. I can relate to wanted to capitalize on what hot right now in popular markets. I personally believe that Crunk-music is here to stay, and I love going to school in Atlanta because ATLiens hear the new songs first. However, Musiq has WAY to much VOCAL talent and it isn’t shown in this song. Kidos for beat selection. It is HOT beat, and no one can deny it, but I hope the new album is more old Musiq instead of this new thing he has going…
You guys might not agree with me, but I think the best Musiq CD was the first one AJUSWANNASING. I could listen to that album straight through. The others were good, but it was always one track that I just HAD to Skip.

okay so i’ve been a HUGE Musiq Soulchild fan since his first album. I feel he won his fan base that enjoys that type of music and is now trying something new. I like the song i didn’t listen to the lyrics on the first listen but i feel he might grab some new listener’s who probably won’t even realize it’s him. I’m behind him with this project it’s growing on me more and more.

Wow, I was just thinking about Music yesterday. And I was thinking that I liked Buddy but it was too much like his first album. I actually really like this and I think he could put out a nice album if he mixes this in with the some of the stuff he has done on his first and second albums.

Just because I’m a fan of Musiq, doesn’t mean I’m gonna bump that ish. It was a hot mess. Even if another artist did it, I would still think its a not mess. Bad lyrics w/ a wack beat (I’m not from ATL so SCREW CRUNK/SNAP or whatever the hell its called). “Yes” I feel putting out a song to capitalize the majority market is a COP OUT and not cool but if he puts out a statement explaining this song was a satire, then I’ll understand. @24, Yeah, like we’re all going to take any kind of advice from someone who capitalizes every other letter.
I love Musiq, and I listen to his songs all the time, but that is one that WILL NOT BE ON MY ROTATION. It sounds like all of the other crap that’s on the radio rotation right now. There is no originality in that. He should have just cut to the chase and added a “cha-ching” loop, because he clearly sold out with that song. Sometimes it’s not about what’s hot, but about WHAT’S GOOD.

Fans of artists are so hard to please…Musiq song isn’t bad, and from reading a lot of the comments a lot of y’all don’t think it is either, it’s the fact that Musiq is singing and you prefer to hear him singing a song that requires more vocal showcasing; it’s the same thing that happened with Monica and Everytime Tha Beat Drops. I personally don’t think it’s anything wrong with capitalizing on what’s big at the moment or what some call “selling out” I mean it’s their job people if your job required you to do something you didn’t want to do but had to( to a certain extent) you would do it to to keep it, it would be different if this was just a side job or hobby but this is his primary income provider (hopefully he has invested money too). Anyway, I don’t see what the big problem is y’all supported Mariah Carey with her crappy single Touch My Body and she doesn’t sing on it really.

i am a long time musiq fan and 100% southern so i love the beat. I am glad to hear any artist step outside their box, ie the label some vanilla skinned marketing rep has created, and do what the f*Ck they want to do. i was surprised to hear musiq do a song like this but i support his perogative

I listened to the Musiq track and i really think there is more to the song than what people think it is i think hes talking about the current state of music and the need for radio hits.
I love the Musiq song! It sounds so different than his other stuff but it’s not bad because everybody knows he actually has talent…The beat is crazy!
People are so damn difficult. Musiq’s song doesn’t sound bad it’s just different and for God’s sake IT’S ONE SONG. That doesn’t mean his whole album will be like this. Every neo-soul artist has tried something different to boost sales or capture a different demographic. Jill Scott, Angie Stone, Raheem Devaughn, Chrisette Michele etc. If you’re a real fan of his music, you don’t have to like the song but don’t talk like his whole career lost credibility off one song.
And Mariah Carey hasn’t been a good vocalist since the mid 90′s…her real fans know she used to blow on some whitney houston type stuff. Now she whispers and “talk-sings” over these tracks and it’s sad to watch. This is not the Mariah my mom used to listen to.

I agree with 38 on musics song I’m loving the beat I’m pretty sure if there was a video it would be hott. He does do better on slow songs (ballads) but this is different for him. I wonder does he write all his own songs he’s always talking about being from philly lol
