I luv the beat of Musiq’s new joint but I think his vocals mixed w/these “main stream lyrics” will take me a few listens to get used to it. Definitely a step in a totally diff. direction but hey…2008 is the year of New Beginnings!

I am orginally from Philadelphia, Pa, Musiq’s hometown. Now I attend Spelman College in Atlanta, GA. I can relate to wanted to capitalize on what hot right now in popular markets. I personally believe that Crunk-music is here to stay, and I love going to school in Atlanta because ATLiens hear the new songs first. However, Musiq has WAY to much VOCAL talent and it isn’t shown in this song. Kidos for beat selection. It is HOT beat, and no one can deny it, but I hope the new album is more old Musiq instead of this new thing he has going…

You guys might not agree with me, but I think the best Musiq CD was the first one AJUSWANNASING. I could listen to that album straight through. The others were good, but it was always one track that I just HAD to Skip.

okay so i’ve been a HUGE Musiq Soulchild fan since his first album. I feel he won his fan base that enjoys that type of music and is now trying something new. I like the song i didn’t listen to the lyrics on the first listen but i feel he might grab some new listener’s who probably won’t even realize it’s him. I’m behind him with this project it’s growing on me more and more.

Wow, I was just thinking about Music yesterday. And I was thinking that I liked Buddy but it was too much like his first album. I actually really like this and I think he could put out a nice album if he mixes this in with the some of the stuff he has done on his first and second albums.

@24, Yeah, like we’re all going to take any kind of advice from someone who capitalizes every other letter.

I love Musiq, and I listen to his songs all the time, but that is one that WILL NOT BE ON MY ROTATION. It sounds like all of the other crap that’s on the radio rotation right now. There is no originality in that. He should have just cut to the chase and added a “cha-ching” loop, because he clearly sold out with that song. Sometimes it’s not about what’s hot, but about WHAT’S GOOD.

Fans of artists are so hard to please…Musiq song isn’t bad, and from reading a lot of the comments a lot of y’all don’t think it is either, it’s the fact that Musiq is singing and you prefer to hear him singing a song that requires more vocal showcasing; it’s the same thing that happened with Monica and Everytime Tha Beat Drops. I personally don’t think it’s anything wrong with capitalizing on what’s big at the moment or what some call “selling out” I mean it’s their job people if your job required you to do something you didn’t want to do but had to( to a certain extent) you would do it to to keep it, it would be different if this was just a side job or hobby but this is his primary income provider (hopefully he has invested money too). Anyway, I don’t see what the big problem is y’all supported Mariah Carey with her crappy single Touch My Body and she doesn’t sing on it really.

I listened to the Musiq track and i really think there is more to the song than what people think it is i think hes talking about the current state of music and the need for radio hits.

I love the Musiq song! It sounds so different than his other stuff but it’s not bad because everybody knows he actually has talent…The beat is crazy!

People are so damn difficult. Musiq’s song doesn’t sound bad it’s just different and for God’s sake IT’S ONE SONG. That doesn’t mean his whole album will be like this. Every neo-soul artist has tried something different to boost sales or capture a different demographic. Jill Scott, Angie Stone, Raheem Devaughn, Chrisette Michele etc. If you’re a real fan of his music, you don’t have to like the song but don’t talk like his whole career lost credibility off one song.

And Mariah Carey hasn’t been a good vocalist since the mid 90’s…her real fans know she used to blow on some whitney houston type stuff. Now she whispers and “talk-sings” over these tracks and it’s sad to watch. This is not the Mariah my mom used to listen to.

Ok I’m all for artists switching things up and bringing a new sound to the fans. Musiq’s song is a nice club banger but I really hope that this is not the direction that he plans on pursuing for the rest of his album. Musiq has way to much vocal talent just like another person said in a previous post, This song is beneath the level that Musiq is capable of singing on. It’s a hot song with a hot beat, but for an artist of Musiq’s caliber, it’s not what he should be moving towards.

How are people saying they like the musiq song, but not musiq singing it? Different, yes. But a good song is a good is a good damn song. We hear all these complaints about these new artists doing the same ol thing, then we slam our favorite artists for looking to expand themselves musically. Which is just an obvious confirmation that the artist is looking expand him or herself personally, as well. If they play this song is the club its gonna rock. Its gonna play on the radio because it was intended to be commercial. Whats wrong with gettin radio play, again…despite the artist?? Musiq has bosses like any other employee, and Im sure the brotha is tryin to eat, too. Case in point, it shouldnt matter what artist is attached to a song if the song is good. People on here really are making it sound as if Musiq has lost his mind. Applaud our artists and musicians for trying out new ideas. Too bad, too because his voice is great but it’s not better than Usher’s, Trey Songz, Mario’s or even R Kelly’s. The point is, he’s gotten out of his lane and now he’s going to have to do more than beat Angie Stone to the radio. This is probably the end for him. I love Musiq. Always have, always will. And I love nothing more than an artist expanding their horizons and trying something different. But be who you are. Not saying that he has to stick to doing love songs and what not. I mean we got “Movin On”, Now or Later”, “Make U Happy” and “Slow Down”…these were different but still remained true to who he is. Maybe he has always had “Radio” in him. Who knows but in the day in age in music, putting something out like this could be the death of a career. We love Musiq because he gives real music. He’s not like every other artist. Now’s not the time to conform. Still love him and can’t wait for the album.

Awww damn it!!! I’m not feeling the remix to I’ll Be Lovin U Long Time AT ALL!!! The original is so much better coz it’s just her singing her lungs out and its short! This remix just doesn’t sound polished!! I’m so sad coz this song is hot and deserves an even hotter remix. But maybe it will grow on me… not saying it will surpass the original though. Everybody I know who’ve heard the song said it’s a great song. A rap verse sooooooooooo wasn’t needed.
