Check out The Game’s new single from his upcoming album, L.A.X., which has been pushed back from July 22nd to August 26th. “Dope Boys” sounds like it’ll be good for radio, and Game always puts out a pretty good video with cool visuals. I think that’ll help me better appreciate the new single. I’m a little worried though – this is the third push-back that Game has gone up against. But then again, he won’t have to worry about competing against Miley Cirus’s sales on the 22nd.

I really loved “Tambourine,” and I was really sad that it didn’t help the album to jump off like it was supposed to back in ’07. They pushed back Here I Am to February of 2008, but I heard nothing else about the project. Here’s the new single they’re pushing for Even, “Fantasy,” featuring Robin Thicke. I like the song, but I’m not sure if it’s strong enough as a single, even though it really is a cool song. I guess Robin is jumping on stuff too, to promote his new project as well.

Here’s the new single, “Text Messages” from Raheem DeVaughn’s rerelease of his sophomore album, Love Behind the Melody. I’m glad that Raheem has been getting the love that he’s deserved this time around, even though I think his sound has definitely changed a little bit from the first album, The Love Experience. Good look for Raheem.

I’m guessing that Common has tapped Pharrell to helm the large part of his new project, Invincible Summer, which is the follow-up to his last album, “Finding Forever.” I think Pharrell and Common have pretty good chemistry together, because I love the new single, “U.M.C.” and I definitely dug “Closer,” where Common featured Mary J. Blige.

I don’t listen to Rap/hip-hop so I opted not to listen to The Game and Common’s (at least not his song fully) tracks. I respect Common as a lyricist, so I’ll rather read his art than listen to it. When it comes to The Game… “hahahaha” I had to laugh! Just the thought of him having a bitch fit because Miley Cyrus beat him in sales is enough to tickle my bones! Makes me think of the moment at the Grammys when 50 cent caught a bitch fit about Evanessence beating him. Now THAT is entertainment lol! By the way…. support Miley’s brother’s (Trace) band Metro Station. Their stuff is pretty good if you’re into post new-wave punk/dance music (“Control” and “Shake It” are my jamz lol)! I listened to some of Eve’s just because of Robin Thicke. I’m sorry but I hate it. Where’s the Eve who was all about female empowerment over struggles??? I want that Eve back. Raheem is selling out to be a star. When he won that BET J award I couldn’t believe it. That usually goes to Maxwell/Athony Anderson types and they told me he WAS one of those singers. Now, he’s just some generic R Kelly or The Dream, even. Mentioning The Dream, did anybody see LL Cool J laughing at Soldier Boy when he presented the Best New Artist award (that The Dream won)? He laughed after his name was read…what lame hating…that kid isn’t ruining hip hop…he’s fitting right into the mainstream (a combination of pop and rap) and it’s youth-obsessed and so his stuff is perfect for his audience…I don’t get how old rappers won’t to make an issue of that. Hip Hop isn’t dying because of this kid…we all get that his stuff is bubblegum pop. So when older rappers charge him with that, it’s obvious they’re jealous…the kid is in today’s music and it’s not their sort…it’s a new lane where rap and pop have melded…and they couldn’t get in it if they wanted to (and LL does…his music is straight up mainstream fluff) because they DON’T FIT THE DEMOGRAPHIC!!! So, leave the kid alone!
