I can dig the hair color. I mean in my opinion it blends nicely with her skin tone. But yellow dress, yellow hair, yellow lady is a bit overboard I must say. It’s like: Is that Big Bird or is that Tyra? She always wears the absolute best lace fronts in the business though. As much money as Naomi Campbell has, I don’t know why she can’t take a que and start wearing lace fronts and stop damaging her own hair and receding hairline to almost nonexistent with those weaves.
As for Tyra’s show…it just goes to show that the Daytime Emmy’s had absolutely nothing to choose from…Tyra winning an Emmy…that is the dumbest and most embarrasing show ever. Tyra asks more eloquent thought provoking questions on ANTM than she does when she is interviewing her guests on her talk show. She really acts semi retarded on her talk show. And again, look how dumb her acceptance speech was. She exploits young women and their issues, just like I stated above. Apparently you don’t watch her shows. She is fake and phony. She acts like she cares for the benefit of the public… Ne’ her audience. Ex: She encourages the girls talking about eating disorders, abuse, attitude probs and stripping. Then she uses it against them. She even did it to Eva. Trying to make her cry. Its all for the tears people! It annoys the hell out of me! You can see that she doesn’t really care. Its obvious. She tutns something that can be a great learning experience for young women into a show. I see right through it. How about the way she treated Rihanna on her last appearance on Tyra? Letting her know that she’ll never compare to Beyonce. Even going so far as to let her know Beyonce is so powerful she can pull the plug on Rihanna. Using the Umbrella lyrics saying B could say “get away, away, eh, eh!” And laughing in her face. Then telling Neyo how much she likes his money (not necessarily him) she is a trip!
It’s not my fault you can’t see thru her. Oh, and I’m not digging the hair or dress but I do wish her well. She is doing it! Keep bankin’ it, Banks! She will hopefully learn her craft and will end up more sympathetic.

I do watch her show sometimes. Not all the time. Thanks for the examples…although weak…those are your observations.

Maybe she has been a little unorthodox a time or two however I feel she upward mobile. We only get to see 45 minutes of episodes. Neither one of us knows what happens when the camera is not rolling or what’s being cut from the show.

In regards to Eva (assuming u talking about season 3 winner of ANTM)…she was arrogant, tactless and need a piece of humble pie. AND…she got it!!! Now she ended up winning so maybe she was preparing her for something greater. Eva’s career has expanded since being on top model….so maybe she got a REALITY CHECK..from Tyra….a small price to pay for a greater reward.

Exploit…..hmmm I don’t think that’s the right word. May confronts issues that many do not talk about.

You know, it’s not always about money. It’s about standards too. But you can’t convince the Wikepeida generation we live in. These days, words just don’t mean what they used to–research is now a google search, success now means money, stating the obvious or even stating your convictions is now “hating”.

For me, an informative show entails more than talking about cellulite on your booty or oogling over embellished vaseline jars. Tyra’s success is largely attributed to an audience too caught up in her beauty and false sense of acceptance by her to see the real picture. To me, an informative show leaves me with a feeling similar to walking out of a powerful lecture or reading an awesome article or having an amazing discussion.

I don’t give Tyra any props. She has manged to profit off of the ignorant by keeping them ignorant, confused, and distracted. I am motivated by her though…if she can be successful then WE ALL CAN.

I see your point sk8board but what teen did not face self esteem problems? I know I did–geez, I was too skinny, too dark, too nappy, too dumb, too loud, too soft..whatever, but I overcame much of that when I went to college, got an amazing education, and got an amazing set of skills that allowed me to accept what I could not change and change what I could not accept.

To all of you: please feel free to your opinion. I gave a couple examples out of a zillion others. That is my perception of Tyra. She is not empowering IMO. I believe she breaks people down. We don’t see what happens to most of these girls when they go home. If you need stronger examples you have a television, I assume please watch at home. I am not a huge fan of Tyra’s but I do commend her success. I can’t knock her for trying to build ratings, but she should not do that at the expense of these peoples feelings and pride. I don’t get why everyone is hating! Oprah may have had a show for a loooong time but that doesn’t make her any better than Tyra. I enjoy watchig Tyra. Tyra goes out on a limb and picks very interesting topics that cater to all audiences. Oprah’s show is ending in 2011 anywayz. Most of her shows really cater to a white audience. That wig is TACKY. The wig and the dress reminds me of an outfit Mary J. Blige wore to a recent awards show. I can’t remember which one, but it was the same color dress, her hair was in a light blonde updo, but she had a fur wrap. Basically it’s the same look.
