The mark of a good songwriter is the ability to convince us that the artist wrote and actually experienced what they are singing ala Janelle Monae when she sings “smile”, she looses her voice and f*cking cries - I feel that - but she didn’t write it - that song “means” something to her other than possible sales.

That is not what happened here. This is a Neyo song, with JHud overdubs. Boring video and song. His style and music selection sound too similar and usually overpower the artist singing it, like I’m hearing the same song over and over, with different singers on it within the same year or month even.

I’ve never been a huge fan of J. Hud’s voice since she was on American Idol…yes I can acknowledge that she can sing…but something about her voice and overall stage presence reaaly irked me…but with that being said…I really do like this song…I don’t know if it’s because Ne-Yo wrote it…which I didn’t know that until today…but I really like Ne-Yo’s music so maybe that’s why…or maybe her style of singing was a little toned down so it made for a really nice feel good song…and I thought she looked beautiful in the video…they could have toned down the makeup just a bit…but she looks like she’s been working out as well…Great Job J Hud.
