Solange, who recently broke her foot on tour, premiered her video on BET’s Access Granted. In the video, Solange looks absolutely beautiful and draws from inspiration from different decades, traveling from the ’60′s to the ’80′s and into the future. A few weeks ago, Solange shot the video in Los Angeles (click here to check out behind the scenes footage), and was directed by Melina, who has worked with Snoop, Ne-Yo and her big sis Beyonce.

But like someone who said about Amy Winehouse, she did on a maintstream level.But I think Teedra bought the sound back because For A Lifetime was like 2004..and everybody hopped around 2005 and 2006.
I LOVE THE SONG, ALWAYS THOUGHT SHE STOOD OUT AS A DIFFERENT KIND OF ARTIST THAT HER BIG SIS, THEY LOOK SO MUCH ALIKE, BLINK REALLY FAST AND YOU SEE BEYONCE, BUT IM GLAD SHE HAS HER OWN SOUND, SOUNDS REALLY GOOD, I’LL GIVE IT A THUMBS UP.
I really like the song, it’s got a nice groove to it. Like the video, it’s so different from the B.S. that is out there. Gon girl, do ya thang!

To those sayin she’s just jumpin on the Amy bandwagon she said she was gonna do this sound for her second album before she got pregnant back in 2004, of course her pregnacy made her have to put her album on hold, but she had the concept back then. Peep the song “Freedom” she did for the Johnson Family Vacation soundtrack in 04, it’s very similar to her newer stuff.
Anyways love the song and the video, Solange is doing big thangs and the haters can’t take.
Love the Song.. but the video looks cheap to me…. the song is a fun song, but video has nothing to do with the song, maybe too much was going on in it. it’s fun girly song, she was taking the song too serious.
for me and my imagination.. i picture solange, at a slumber party waiting for her boyfriend, singing into a hairbrush to her girl friends, while they flip channels on a old tv, , on that tv, should have the scenes in the video… and her boyfriend could come across all kinds of obstacles trying to get to her.. solange could be singing to teddy bear that her boyfriend won for her as some street fair … and the video ends with the boyfriend coming to the door with flowers.
now that would be fun, something that people can relate to.. ya know .

I’m SO loving this video. Unlike the Gnarls vid that everyone was on… this actually had substantial plot/conclusion/substance and I’m so feeling it. If her album has as much power and substance as this video did, she may give something that Beyonce couldn’t. To me, B was always the independent yet prototype trophy wife. They always played up her beauty and her songs always played up on how open she got for a guy while being “independent.” Solange lets her music speak for her and she’s is def. doing things diff. than B. I like this and I love this song and I LOVE LOVE the vid even more. I can’t wait to see what she brings to this lifeless period of R&B music.
Also don’t bitch about me comparing her to B. B and Mary is the only successful MAINSTREAM females WHO ACTUALLY CAN SING doing things in he R&B world. So in otherwords… its a compliment.

Solange is talented. She choreographed this video and even came up with the treatment for it as she usually does. She’s a writer and producer. I heard her sing live minutes after breaking her foot and she killed it – even did little dance moves. Can’t hate on her talent. Looking forward to her album – Sandcastle Disco is fire.
She must have gotten singing/vocal lessons. She sounds pretty good on this single. Singing LIVE is the real test though!! As for the video…

I am just interested to see what she has to say on that doggone blog. I read her stuff on her myspace so i don’ imagine that this will be much different? Or will it? Maybe she just needed space to say whatever she wanted to say without being in the confines of another person’s webpage? I don’t know. But she is popping up everywhere within the last couple of days. I hope that she does well and I hope that the album lives up to the hype.

You’re right. Her video is identical to the one you posted. I’m not surprised though. This chick is clearly a wannabe. I don’t buy for one second that she’s eclectic and profound. Her “image” is a straight up gimmick! The jig is up.
