first off all…al the haters out there who sayin shit like T.I. committed a crime and wants us to feel sorry for him can just go fuck themselves.
Did R.Kelly not get convicted of tht sex tape??
Did we not find guns in Lil Wayne’s tour bus AND catch him smoking weed? Yet we sat there and watched him at the BET Awards accepting Viewer’s Choice and performing

T.I. made a mistake i admit that but he now realizes the consequences of his actions and has to take full responsibility. this song was just recorded to tell America that he’s still King of tha South and aint nobody gonna take his crown away from him!! Love him forever!!! Nice vid too especially at the end when he’s let out of that lil elevator thing and is rappin in front of all those ppl

It’s easy for everyone who hates T.I. or his gun charges to criticize him. Criticism is almost always easier than creating a work of art. T.iI. bears both the honor of living a rich life as well as the grunt of protecting it. I commend T.I….even salute him…for pleading guilty and serving his punishment. I am, however, convinced that T.I. continues to live his life through his rear view mirror so to speak. He’s the same dopeboy that he use to be, only richer, with 5 more kids, and millions of people watching. I think the root of all his “violence” problems rests inside his resistance to change into who he could become. He’s famous for saying “be better than me”. Well I will celebrate the day T.I. becomes better than himself. He’s still the dopeboy, just older, richer, 5 kids more, and with millions watching. I’m not sad; I’m angry that he won’t give us more than just a hit song. Give us something we don’t expect, T.I. Don’t be so reactive…so predictable…so money, hoes, cars, clothes, and now…guns.

  9. SouthernDarkBeauti

Thats whats up T.I!!!! song is a testament to any situation when you down and most
think your out and like to cast stones….But God has a plan for trials…its to make us stronger, wiser and the Joy is so sweet on the side…..
    A Hit T.I

I don’t like it. It is contradictory to me image wise in an attempt to clean up / be deep. Dood has a family and kids and we should excuse his “mistake” of buying guns illegally (from feds no less), for what war?

Protecting your family includes being there and not doing anything to risk that, he risked that for what exactly? Booo hooo, he had it tough – so did everybody, who doesn’t have the same story, but the “men” are the ones that from the moment of becoming a man, they do what is best for those around them, this includes those for whom they set an example for (i.e. yall who look up to him and what he stands for).

If buying guns illegally is what a man does who purportedly makes millions and has a family (a big one) is a mistake – and isn’t considered dumb – then society needs to take a look at what a man is, and what actions done by a man should be deemed a “mistake”.

^ This statement no matter how you look at it is not “hating” it is the state of fact of what a man does when he becomes one – anyone who does otherwise in my book isn’t.

Song & Video & Artist, both lame to me…

BLACK DAMN PEOPLE THROW THAT WORD “MISTAKE” AROUND…

You don’t fool me, lol, I know you know what it means.

  12. LadyDay

Did I just hear an entire (gangsta) rap song without the use of the “N” word or profanity? Thank you T.I. for understanding that it is possible to make an intelligent, hit-making song without those distractions. In addion, you have made it possible for a middle-age woman, like myself, to enjoy the lyrics and music of a modern-day rap song. Thank you, T.I. I hope this song is indicative of the entire album.

  13. V

#50 i see where you’re coming from, some ppl pull up on him and shoot at his car, killing his best friend and now he’s alittle paranoid so he go goes and buys all those guns. We really don’t know what the man has gone through and we shouldn’t judge. He’s trying to do better something now so…

  14. ga peach

I still love Shawty Lo. I live here in Atlanta, you have to know who is real and the fake one’s. You all just listen and don’t see. They don’t know!!!!!!

  15. I love this video! I was in tears by the end. I am a huge TI fan! It’s the KING homie!

    PROVOST…

You call my story half baked…. interesting being that (I was there as well lol) your story is no different from mine expect you made an opinion about the “Man” of Morehouse, and told a long ass story. LOL…(was that your way of not half baking the story?)

Dude you have your opinion. RESPECT. and I have mine…lol. I’m a senior at Morehouse and I share your same sentiment…about the AUC bull, I’m a transfer student who haven’t had to play the politics… I disengage from it and do me. Substance > Facade

    Stay up!

  17. ShayPOOH

I LOVE IT!!! :D I MISS HIM, BUT I’M GLAD THAT HE’S COMING BACK! :D I WONDER IF HE’S SWITCHING UP HIS RAP STYLE, BECAUSE HE DIDN’T CURSE AT ALL?

  18. Sharonda

Did I just hear an entire (gangsta) rap song without the use of the “N” word or profanity?

^Well, I’m pretty sure his album is going to be full with that, don’t get too happy lol.It is a video that has been edit for radio use.Not a big fan of T.I., but ummmm do you!

  19. ThatGirlLinda

I am a TI fan and I love this song.. What’s up with the Shawty Lo stuff? I know he was talking sideways on BET about TI though. BTW he talks funny like he smoked to much stuff and it messed up his vocal capabilities or whatever the word is I’m looking for..

  20. ThinkAboutIt

This is a nice message video… simple video with a strong voice.
Yes, he made some mistakes and yes he will make some more, we all have and we all will. Thankfully no one was hurt and he will serve his time.

Hey man. You made me smile with the “RESPECT”. I was wondering when someone would respond to what I had to say seeing that it’s obvious T.I. has both a problem we all don’t want (gun charges) as well as a problem we all dream of (rich). The important thing is to get the the bottom line. That bottom line is T.I. vs. T.I.P. I think the resolve is that T.I. doesn’t have to battle T.I.P. I think he will always be both smart and street. He has to find the path that keeps him out of jail, out of court and out of fights. As a side note, I am an alum of Morehouse ’02.

He has to find the path that keeps him out of jail, out of court and out of fights. To put this in academic words, T.I. and T.I.P. are neither mutually exclusive nor contradictions. Every man should live smartly, then when necessary, use whatever amount of force to secure your life. T.I. isn’t wrong for protecting himself; he’s wrong for buying guns as a seven-time felon. He should have hired bodyguards that he could trust his life with. Even with all this, I believe T.I. is beginning to see that he has a greater role to play in this world than he might have originally bargained for and with that fact, the world is watching his every move.

As a side note, I am an alum of Morehouse ’02.

  23. Been There

First and foremost I agree with #50 comment…I can’t imagine being cut-off on the highway and get shot at… your best friend dies and 3 others get shot all because someone wanted to make a name for themselves. I can’t imagine looking at Philant’s mama to tell her what happened….I can’t imagine what kind of paranoia that would cause.
and to the GA Peach..ask Shawty about the day after Birthday Bash in Bowen Homes (his own projects) when a random neighborhood kid named “Lil’ Meatball” took his chain LOL…

  24. ALEX

his best track yet .i herd this song a few months back and i loved it form the beginning .the video is eccentric .he has to be the best rapper to walk this earth. his music is timeless! can’t wait 4 paper trail!

  25. TIANA

BORING, I KNEW HE WOULD COME BACK WITH SOME WACK ASS TRACK MAKING SOME KINDA STATEMENT AFTER HIS RECENT DRAMA…

WHERE DID THAT OLD T.I. GO??

    :(

  26. NO ID

I like the song and video – esp. the end where it seems like he acknowledges the support around him, but I do agree with the critcisms of his behavior also. as #68 so eloquently said, he’s gotta be a better man. so we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and hope that he will evolve into that, as we all have to.

but just on the song, i dig it!

  27. YesWeCan!

This is directed to #58 and #70, (I keep coming back to watch the video!! I love T.I.)

#58, I can appreciate most of your comment. You are right. College educated blacks, even those who are from the hood and can relate to the message gangsta rappers put out, disgust me with their hypocrisy. “If you from the hood, you are ignorant, without morals, and your future is limited by the gutter streets that surround you. You are and will never amount to nothing.” This is the label our society has placed on our ghetto or to be politically correct, “urban” youth. Some of the girls at my school would distance themselves from me because my background didn’t include two college educated parents with corporate jobs and a gated community in the suburbs.

I am a Spelman grad, a proud “Grady” baby, and grew up in one of the toughest projects in Atlanta, Carver Homes projects back in the 80′s and 90′s. Both parents addicted to crack. I am the exception…statistics show that I should have about 4 kids by 2 or more different men, on welfare, have some sort of STD, and living below poverty. The difference between me and that statistical figure, is my ability to face my adversities in the face, challenge them back and rise above them. Of course, I took advantage of the little support system I had, a few teachers, counselors, neighbors, etc.

This generation has to start listening to SOMEBODY positive around them for these social injustices to change…start recognizing that you have to hold yourself accountable for any behavior you put out in this world. Once progress is made, once your best foot is in front of the other, you then reach out and grab another “at-risk” youth and help them do the same. We have too many educated, talented, socially conscious young black men and women for us to lose an entire generation to ghetto destruction.

    #70,
Anybody, and I mean ANYBODY can be a celebrity and be in the spotlight…that means you…the person who may happen to read this. So examine yourself….your morals, your school of thought, your beliefs, and everything else that comprises your self-identity. Now, you are not perftect…you have flaws, you will make mistakes…when that spotlight hits you, your mistake is on display for the whole world to see. In my opinion, that is the only difference between me and a celebrity. I consider myself to be a professional, college educated woman, that works in Corporate America. I smoke weed ocassionally, use vulgar language at times, and love hip-hop…lol. If I decide to run for an elected position or choose a career that receives media attention, my past and or present will come back to haunt me. My whole life is public record at that point….but as long as I don’t seek the spotlight..what I do doesn’t get ridiculed nationally. But I know that I am humble, I make good decisions (for the most part), and I give tremendously to my community. Am I really a bad person…am I dumb?

Seems he is a hooker. I’ve seen his profile on the wealthy dating club RICHLOVING.COM for hot singles to hook up for Hot Love and Sexy Dating. He seems to be hooking up with nice girls there. I’ve been there for day, it seems the girls are not hard to hook up.

  32. willy

is it me? or dont anyone else realise that rhianna is getting paler each day

  33. tonya

Why all the negativity????? God has the right to judge no one else. T.I. did a wonderful job. It came from the heart and you could feel his pain through the song. At least he wasn’t speaking about the same b.s. some of these artists talk about. At least you could understand the words…When are we as a race going to stop hating on each other. No one us is in his shoes. Instead of tearing him down, pray for him. “With God all things are possible”! Keep doing what you doing T.I. Keep your head up

    @ #87

I wasn’t referring to T.I’s celebrity status. In fact, that has nothing to do with my statement. What he did, is not what a man does when he is to a) set an example, and b) has a family. Celebrity or not, as a man, you do not do something that could possibly dissolve your family. You don’t risk that. It is not a “mistake”, its plain out stupid. If my brother, friend, cousin, etc. did it, I would call them stupid too, celebrity or not, even if they didn’t get caught and told me about it.

If you had 3 kids with your husband, and your family unit is fairly well off and he went out to buy guns illegally knowing his “celebrity status”, knowing that your children will read about what “daddy has done” – you would sit there and say – “well, honey, you’re a celebrity, its just a mistake and your life is under a microscope” or “WTF were you thinking!!!!!”

  36. YesWeCan!

#95 Good point! I never said what he did was smart. I am just not going to say it was “dumb”. You have to consider the other factors involve in his decision making.

You gave me an example and I will use that one…..So if my husband put our livilehood at stake over some illegal guns I would be angry, disappointed, neglected, etc. BUT before I allow all those feelings to consume me, I would evaluate his circumstances. Did my husband get shot at while riding down the highway of an unfamilar territory less than a year ago? Did he lose his best friend and bodyguard as result? If I had to take those factors into consideration then NO I wouldn’t harbor any ill feelings…I would support my man because obviously his “clouded judgment” involved trying to protect himself and our family!!

  37. We still love ya TI with your skinny, sexy, redbone a$$! I love this song.

  38. mofo

    #96

I see where you are coming from and the support is cool- but, it is unacceptable behavior when you are fathering a family, you “grow up”. I would never allow my best friend to be my bodyguard because – I can not protect him. A “man” considers these things, you do not put those around you in harms way – it is your duty to them as friend/family (even if they want to be). Thats cool that my friend would take a bullet for me, but I would never let him try, because I love him and his family too much to let harm come to him.

So – the husband you are defending here can go to jail for life for killing someone with an unregistered automatic weapon even if in self defense, being that he is on probation, and or go to jail for purchasing the weapons, and or die from ratting out the anyone in the process, and you don’t consider that “dumb”? it is precisely that.

If you have “millions”, move on, get out of the life where bullets have your name on it. There is nothing “smart”, or commendable, about dying or going to prison, while your wife and or some other dood is left to raise your children.

A man, thinking of you first, would want to protect you, even if it means quitting what he loves, because his family requires him to be alive.

  39. MANDY

Maybe I missed it but where in the song did he say he was sorry for the mistakes that he made? Everybody is saying he made a mistake but TI himself. If I missed it let me be the first to say I am sorry but all I heard was he was the the realest and suckers will get served. Oh, I forgot he showed people how to get get get it. I heard about his suffering like he was Mandela or something. WTF. Protecting his family my ass. Who was protecting Tiny when her butt was sitting on the curb handcuffed and crying? You have the money so hire people to carry guns for you.

  40. blackenese

LOVE the song LOVE T.I., the verse when he said he lost his boy and baby girl in the same year was heart wrenching. I really felt the song. but on some real talk iI wish i was his baby mama. I’m so jealous rite now. If I can find out where he’s gonna do time I’ll write to him errday. You always gonna be the king im book T.I.

    #96

Point well taken. I agree for the most part. I guess I am being biased because I LOVE T.I. :-) It is taking me a while to fully agree because your definition and idea of what a man is will differ from others. If you don’t know what being a man is, then you can’t begin to assess your situations as man would. All you can do is “try” to be a man. In T.I.’s opinion, he thought that what’s being a man is. He didn’t exercise sound judgment but I believe his heart was in the right place with regards to wanting to protect himself and his family. Example – A battered woman may never let a man touch her again, a sexually abused child may grow up to abuse other children, a war veteran may come home and enact violence on those around him, a car accident victim may become afraid to drive after the accident, a mother who child died at birth may fear having children in the future….all these situations are examples of people who have been “traumatized”…..the decisions they make as a result may harm them, others, or no one in particular. The point is when you are a victim of a traumatic situation i.e. getting shot at several times while riding down the highway and watching your best friend die right before you eyes, you become psychologically vunerable. Your decision making could become cloudy. Who knows….

  45. is this actuallyy a video.That’s releashed.
