In this special edition of What They Rock’d, we capture three looks Rihanna rocked while on the go last week.
The singer brought her black outfit to life on 106 & Park with these Balenciaga gladiator enamel heeled boots, while appearing on 106 & Park. Price for a pair of those? Hold your breath…$6495!
I pretty much was able to find the whole outfit from Friday that she wore while out in New York City. Her blazer is the Olsen twins’ Elizabeth & James Feather blazer ($765) and latex leggings by Kova & T ($110).
She’s wearing Ray Ban’s large Warfarer Sunglasses ($120) and is carrying the new exclusive Louis Vuitton Murakami Monogramouflage Speedy 35 ($1800) to available in select LV stores next month. Her thin heeled sandals are the ‘Pepe’ style by Manolo Blahnik ($745)…
She also went all black for her appearance on TRL, wearing a Thomas Wylde leather rider jacket along with fly Giuseppe Zanotti Fall 08 lace up boots. Made Her Think has been supplied her with jewelry all week – here she is wearing their Talon Ring ($110), black Pyramid Totem bracelet ($132), and Sword earring…

I love love love the sandals. Tiana, I just saw a pic of RiRi in a pair of tan sandals/boots, I am not sure what they were but they were DOPE!!! SHe wore them to some BET Awards pre event . Let’s say you have the seven grand to spend on those boots, it’s not like you are going to get them just like that. Designers are known to give popular celebrities first digs on a future collection. You will see the celeb wearing the boots or bag, but the bag or boots aren’t in the stores. And, when they hit the stores ( which, i doubt it because you won’t find 7,000 boots sitting on the shelf) everybody else (socialites and B-list celebs ) going to be wanting those same boots, so you would probably be on a waiting list. By the time you actually get the boots, that designer would have moved on to something else. So, your boots, that you spent seven grand on would be out of style by then. With all of that said, i actually like Rihanna’s fashion sense. She’s able to pull off most of the stuff she wears because she’s tall and thin( not supermodel thin). I just think certain clothes hang better on tall and thin figures.

Her stylist’s name is Mariel Haenn. She’s actually a really cool chic. I’m a student @ the Fashion Institute of Technology and a lot of the times we’re fortunate to get lectured by many “Stylists to the Stars.” So I put it out there. DONT BE FOOLED. Rihanna is rocking $7000 boots, but there’s a huge possibility she didn’t pay for them and she wont keep them either. (I said possibility for the sake of the stans. lol) A lot of the times fashion houses let celebrities wear things to advertise on a show and a representative from that house is waiting at the door to repossess those items or the celebrities have to send them back. Its weird but its true.
My mom has some of the short Balenciaga gladiator boots but they’re closed toed and they’re pink, brown, and white. Not as cute as those tho.

i wouldn’t call riri a fashion trendsetter or say she has an original style bc/ if you pay attention to fashion, everything that she’s ever worn has been done by others before. she’s a trend-follower and a very good one at that. she does look good in her clothes, not gonna lie about it.

She accessorizes like a hippie as well… Rihanna, on the other hand, is very modern, high-end, punk…at least, that’s what she’s going for. She’s also a Balenciaga model and she wore the shoes Rihanna is wearing in the add. They were worn in the ads and on the runway but the first real life person to ever ever wear these shoes is Rihanna.

when i said their styles were similar i put in parentheses that i was talking about the whole leather, shiny leggings, chunky heels, feathers, etc. look. i didn’t say they dressed completely alike b/c mary-kate definitely looks more unpolished but judging by the fact that she dresses herself for the most part, it’s expected. by the grunge look, i think you’re referring to when she’s just chilling b/c she does tend to do the ripped up jeans plaid shirt thing a lot but essentially many of the things that riri has worn (like leather jackets with classy dresses) has been done by mary-kate before. just check her style profile. and though she never wore these gladiator shoes, she was one of the first to rock them in general

i’ve seen her even rock flower dresses with fur jackets on top. that’s not grunge at all. i think the fact that she always looks washed out is confusing you b/c she does switch it up in terms of clothes.she can do grunge, classy with an edge, hobo/hippie, she’s not one-dimensional. doesn’t matter anyway b/c she’s definitely a bigger force in fashion than rihanna will ever be b/c her look is not contrived.
