Solange performed in the Chevy Superlounge on Saturday night during the Essence Music Festival and granted Concrete Loop exclusive access to her soundcheck earlier that afternoon.
Solange is such a real cool chick and sounded great during the check even though she was sick. She performed “I Decided”, “Sandcastle Disco” and a list of her new songs with her band. After the soundcheck she chatted it up with us for a minute and her father, Matthew Knowles (who was real cool as well) stopped by to make sure everything was running smooth. She did GREAT at Essence! I loved her. I watched both of her shows the 1st one at 9 and the 2nd one at 11! She sounded good, she looked good and her little son was there on the side to! So was Beyonce and Tina Knowles..they were both on the side watching and cheering her on. Shes great and i cant wait to get her CD!

people can be mad all they want, but Solange is soooooo vapid. The whole idea of actaully looking on her as an “artist” is ridiculous. And the fact that she performed at an event with Estelle??? She’s like some generic poser brand of Estelle and Amy Winehouse combined. Even her look screams poser…the curly weave looks like 80s “Men at Work” and the dress/heel thing won’t make her stylish anymore than wearing a scarf will make these rappers “hipsters.” Please. Stop. Solo is bringing it! I am so loving her new music right now. She definitely is very personable. Love her interviews and the way she goes about her life. The pics of her and Lil Daniel are so adorable. Juelz is going to be a hearthrob when he grows up. She is a hard worker and wish her all the best.
