So I hit up the Central Park Summerstage on Sunday, July 20 in NYC to check out my girl Santi ‘SANTOGOLD’ White perform her free set. She performed a few songs from her self-titled debut album (my favorite album of the year) and rock’d the stage pretty good. The concert also featured performances from: MZ STREAMZ, KID CUDI, as well as DJ Diplo, DJ Nick Catchdubs, DJ Blaqstarr and DJ A-Trak (Kanye’s DJ).
The scorching heat (yes it was hot as hell) did not stop the fans from showing some support. Almost 6,000 people attended the event and I was lucky enough to get some good shots of most of the happenings. I chilled with Santi backstage for a bit and she posed for some photos exclusively for Concrete Loop. I also have a new favorite rapper, this dude named Kid Cudi. I read some blogs about him earlier this year, but I finally got to see him perform live and his performance and personality was dope. Be on the lookout for an Artist Spotlight on him in the upcoming weeks. Anywho, peep some of my photos from the event.

Thanx to Calvin, Jesse, Santi & Crew for hooking it up!

i love how not kissing angel’s ass makes u a “hater”
Santogold is like the black version of M.I.A. lol. I wish CL would post MORE indie-alt artists tho….
LOL @ # 18 “CAN SOMEBODY GET HER AN SOS NO I MEAN A SUS!
ANGEL MUST BE A MAN CAUSE DAMM A WOMAN CAN’T BE WALKING AROUND LOOKING LIKE THAT SERIOUSLY!
I admire any woman who is not afraid to go against the grain. I admire any woman who has not become so possess with what society thinks of her. I admire any woman who is not afraid to not give a sh*t. That takes a strong woman. Do you know how hard that must be. Some of the most intelligent black women will spend a lifetime truly not being happy within, still trying to define their beauty by society’s standards ( By men standards). These women are strong. Unfornately, I am not that strong.
Santo Gold is cute the two songs I have with her and Pharrell “Drive Thru” and some other are the best.
Wow #61. I agree somewhat, but that comment was harsh. Cut her some slack, it was probably 100 degrees standing outside in that park. #63 I agree with you as well. Some people can’t help how they look and work with what they got. Confidence is much better than just a pretty face.
Im in Raleigh durham it sucks down here just overly Obese people, greasy food, and white aritsts only preform here….that aren’t cool. I cant wait to move to NYC to see a concert like this or DC…The south sucks.maybe except Charlotte, ATL. (to visit not to live, never again)..and Miami is the ebst of all…other than that..stay up north better concerts better social life…more things to buy and do. Imagine a Santo Gold concert here….I wish.

Angel you got great skin it looks smooth like a babies bottom
leave angel alone…. u mutha fuckers would not have a blog if it wasnt for her…. because the rest of these so call black blogs suck … her looks dont have nothing to do with what she brings to the table for us …..stop biting tha hand that feeds you before yo ass starve to death lolololol
Is this post about Santogold, or Angel not living up to yall’s “high fashion” standards….LOL Damn yall supposed to be glad that this site has been brought to “us” by “us”…Keep it moving Angel!
I’M NOT LIKING MOST OF THESE NEW ARTISTS NOWADAYS!!!! YALL LOOK A MESS!
I agree with #1, Angel..You have great skin.. Why the Jackie-O shades all the time? But anywhoo, I do agree that Santogold is fire, but I can never find her album in DC record stores..I guess I need to travel..I like the fact that her style is very early nineties..diggin the MC Hammer pants!!
This is called corner store chic…lol
Wow..you can actually tell who the young immature bloggers are…Number 72 come in…Copy, do u read me, number 72…
Two creative Black women doing their own thing is always a good look. Why would you bother hating on them?
I’m just now discovering santogold. I love her style. I think a lot of people don’t truly understand her music or her style. As for Angel, she doing her thing. You people need to get out more for real and find other music besides just r and b and rap. There are so many black artist that are getting mad props from the white community, but get virtually ignored by black folks because they dont fit and arent Beyonce or Lil Wayne.
Why this emphasis on high fashion when the hundreds of dollars you spend on Prada, Ralph Lauren, and D&G all go to rich white designers who cant even put a sistah or brotha in their runway shows? Get a clue people. Most celebrities pay huge amounts to “look good” and spend tons of money on clothing when they should be trying to inprove their “talent”.
I dont get santogold’s style at all.. She has that kid n play look from the late 80′s early 90′s looks. YUCK!
Next she’ll bring the MC hammer pants back, and the tie died clothing..BOO
Let the haters do their damn job. That’s what they’re here for. That’s what they do….they’re too ignorant to do anything else….HATE ON HATERS, HATE ON!
DO YOUR DAMN THING ANGEL….U’RE DOPE AND SO IS THIS SITE!!! THANK YOU FOR CREATING IT!!!!!
Kid Cudi is okay….his whole style is like Wale, who if you’re from the DC/MD/VA area, you already know who he is. And he’s on Interscope now.
Wale is the cat you should do an Artist Spotlight on. He’s more stylistic (visually) and lyrical than this cat.
Santogold is posted up here, because she has good music. I have the CD and i play it twice sometimes three times a day at my desk. I love it. Anyway! Nice pics Angel.
I was there
****BY THE WAY: DO NOT DO BUSINESS W/AQUABOOGIE.NET. I PAID THEM IN MARCH TO CREATE MY WEBSITE AND HAVENT HEARD BACK FROM THEM SINCE. THEYRE WEBSITE IS SHUT DOWN AND THEYVE CHANGED THEIR NUMBER****
Good luck, Santo. I’m sure you’re talented but the music industry is extremely colorstruck and if you don’t look like Bey, Rihanna, Alicia K, Cassie or Leona, your chances of making it is almost zero.
