LOL @ #1! I was thinkin’ the same thing! On a lighter note, I do think it’s a good idea to see “thugs” encouraging everyone to vote. Hell, they encourage them to get money, and fuck around, might as well encourage them to vote!

Damn, T.I. is fine!

TI is a convicted felon…. a 7 time convicted felon. Don’t know how he gets so many chances oh yes I do… he got money. Anyway I could care less for TI or Young Berg… they both lost my respect. Pleasure P is looking kinda scrumtious with the weight gain. I like it.

Good cause fo T.I. - I see Maino is getting his activist on too.
Convicted felons can’t vote, but the campaign is geared towards getting others registered and voting.

Yung Berg is a retard but that transformer chain is off the hook it would have been better if it was a decpticon chain or it (transformed into one. Which in turn he could have used that as a catalyst for the his album instead of the junk he just put out. Which I heard and is straight garbage!!!!!!!!!.But in other words its good to see him and T.I. come out and show there face for publicity for there albums and not the presidency hint hint!!. Which I doubt they care but they lead us on thinking they do.

Though he isn’t supposed to vote…let’s big him up for encouraging others to do so.

Pleasure P does look damn good with some weight. I love me a husky man.

Dawn…I loves ya boo..I think you are SO adorable…but damn, don’t ever cock ya mouth open like that again. It makes you look like a distant relative of that animal you have on ya head. NEIGH

There are some instances where felons (who are not on probation) can get their rights re-instated and are allowed to vote. I do not know the specifics of T.I.s criminal record, so I will not speculate as to whether or not he can vote. I just want people to know this tad bit. I knwo there is some process that people must go through, but the option is there and many people do not know it.

The funny thing is that all these rapper are telling these young people to vote without addressing any issues. ” I say what I say on my records cuz thats my life, your son cant talk back to me on the song” TI Hip hop summit BET. Sad that we allow the worst of our community the one responsible for the downward sprial of our young women and men self image to influence our voice so much. I guess the only thing that matters is that a black man is elected. WOW

@ 24 Ja I agree with you so much! The only reason why a bunch of our people and our music artists are voting this year is because a black man is running. It’s a damn shame. Barack is a very smart and intelligent man and will run the country right, but do many of our people really know what he issues he will address? I love A. Keys but I haven’t heard her say why she’s supporting Barack. If it were 2 white men, none of our music artists or actors would pay any mind.

CO-SIGN like a mutha. ‘Bout time they added something positive to the mix.

I see your point but a lot of these young kids don’t have anyone else that they listen to. So would it be better if they were constantly bombarded with negativity? I have no love for TI like that but it’s a fact that there aren’t enough parents passing along the right information for these kids to chew on. So what’s better? No information to learn from at all or some information that’s coming from a “bad” source? I’d choose the lesser of two evils.

@ 28 and 24….You make valid points that most black people are voting b/c we have black man running for president. One place where you are wrong is about artists encouraging people to vote…Y’all must have quickly forgot how every other commercial on BET and MTV were always saying VOTE OR DIE…Diddy,Nelly, Andre 3000 and many other artists were pushing people to vote. The artists aren’t pushing us to vote b/c Barack is running, they are pushing us to vote cus we need change. BUSH WAS F’N up in 04 and in 08 we don’t need McCain continuing the BS. @33

This is like the Million Man March. People went out of their way with their t-shirts and sign but nothing changed. We dont have more men taking care of home or more son being being put on the right path. We can tell this by the number of teen pregancies, single parents, father with repeat jail visits. We say the parent are not stepping up and there is no other music to hear, but we are the parents that can change that. Just because we may need a change dosen’t make Obama the best person for EVERYONE WHO is black. There are 4 other people running. Everyone running has a platform that will help and hurt the black community. People need to be presented with the issues and decide for themselves what is important to them. How can that happen if all that is said is we need a change. What do we need to change from. People need to know the unbais point of view. Dont tell me because I know what is important to me and the welfare of my family and the least important is electing a black just on GP. The is no such thing as the lesser of two evils when you have a declared stance on the issues that matter to you.

46.

JUDAH

Tuesday, July 29, 2008 /

Why do these simple ass black people think that they can solve their problems by printing up T-shirts? No disrespect to them, but our people cannot even correct the issues that are going on in their homes and communities, much less the world. Then you have felons co-signing things that they cannot even take a part in.

Yeah do they even know WHO’S standing this election?? DMX made it clear when he said in an interview that he didn’t know who our boy Barack was. He basically laughed at his name  Most of these dudes can’t be much different.

I’m sure DUNG Berg wouldnt have been happy to see a “dark butt” like the lovely Dawn from Danity Kane.

52.

ms_mac

Tuesday, July 29, 2008 /

@45 , I think you confused my statement with #38s. I wasn’t touting change for the sake of change. I didn’t even say Obama was the best man for the job. I was saying that I don’t have a lot of (if any) respect for people like TI (I think he’s a clown, a clown with some music I can move to, but a clown nonetheless) but I would prefer that he use his fame for something positive to offset a lot of the negative bullshit that he spews. Is he doing it for publicity?? HELL YES. But that doesn’t mean he’s not influential.

Not everyone will even listen to what TI has to say. But at the heart of the matter is the fact that young people who are at the age of voting, or will be there soon, can at least get a message that there is such a thing called VOTING, and that even if they choose not to vote, they’ll have a basis for understanding what the process is about. I’m not even saying that their vote will count. It’s just better that we get these rappers talking about something relatively positive. I bet TI and Maino don’t even understand the electoral process themselves. However, there may be a young person that listens to their music but is still smart enough to explore this further based on this slither of info. Anything is possible.

And as far as parents being the ones who should put their kids on the right path, that hasn’t been happening in many urban communities for like ever. If this was a quick fix it would have been fixed. Parents are the ones failing their kids, not the other way around. No, rappers and musicians shouldn’t be responsible for telling us who to vote for. But the bottom line is that if a rapper is telling me something positive and my deadbeat parent ain’t saying nothing, I’d be more inclined to listen to the rapper. Not saying it’s right. But it is what it is.

The thing that gets me the most about ELECTIONS is people only come out and stress the importance of voting during the PRESIDENTIAL election. People need to realize to really see change you need to STRESS the importance of voting during CONGRESS/SENATE/HOUSE OF REPS/MAYOR/CITY COUNCIL/ETC elections.

These are the people who will make the change. And yes I do think it’s good to get people out for a cause but at the end of the day most of you and the convicted felons have wasted their time because the ELECTORAL COLLEGE yes it’s not really you but your REPRESENTATIVE that makes the final decison - - The Electoral College is the term used to refer to those who officially elect the President and Vice President of the United States.

So go ahead and choose who you like, not even sure why BUSH rigged the last election when he had already bribed the ELECTORAL college. Just IMO. But Hey let’s see this much effort when it’s time to elect other bodies of the political pyramid.

JUST IMO.

Yung Berg is just like Neyo as far as I am concerned just taking pictures with females to hide the obvious. I didnt even know that he was 4″ 11 on top of him being a ugly little runt. It’s sad to see people judging others that’s trying to make a postive change, For those that say FELONS can’t vote, you’re wrong. Do the research yourself. Policies on felon voting in the 50 states fall into four broad categories: Permanent disenfranchisement for ALL felony offenders, Permanent disenfranchisement for SOME felony offenders, re-enfranchisement after completion of sentence including parole and sometimes probation, and states with minimal disenfranchisement. Florida, Kentucky and Virginia are the 3 states a felony conviction leads to the permanent loss of voting rights.

T.I keep doing what you’re doing, Georgia is a state to where voting rights are restored after completion of sentence including parole and probation. For the rest of the haters…. know your rights, knowledge to power.
