♫ HOT OR NOT: RANTZ – “GEORGIA PEACH”

♫ Rantz – Georgia Peach

Meet Rantz, a 21-year-old New Orleans native and resident who apparently has a thing for Georgia peaches! Signed to Damm Guud Entertainment, an Indie label, Rantz croons about his love for an Atlanta chick, and hopes to take the nation by storm with his ode to southern belles.

I think the reason I first connected with the song is because I’m from Atlanta, and heard many landmarks from my city, so I automatically could relate. Not only that, but I am really digging Rantz’s smooth tone and delivery. So what do you think?

Kinda tired of these one hit wonder types.

  2. Dame(Jazmine Sullivans' Lion, Tigers and Bears is 1 of the best song I've heard in a long time thanks CL)

It sounds like it could be a Bobby V song it reminds of Slow Down.

  3. msmuffin_24

why do everyone think that they have to represent the “A” to get a hit? (smh)

  4. AshleyisHere

    yea why do they.
buh dis dude lookin like young berg.
he betta bring sumtin to the table cause
im tired of the seasonal artist that jus come in
    with the wind.

  5. GreatestLoveOfAll

  7. danDan

Yeah, i like it.. good summer anthem… but i was thinking if someone made a song about London with London landmarks… toooo funny

KFC and Ritzy cinema in Brixton
    Topshop in West End
London Bridge on the way to Elephant and Castle
    Hackney Empire and Mare Street

    Ohhhh my London Bum

    :D

  8. l

    Atlanta is Georgia Peach

  9. Ms.Maye

He sounds like every dude that makes that first hit and he, like everyone else, uses that darn synthesizer. I’m saying though, when I pop up on the scene, it’s gonna be str8 up vocals, straight from that diaphram, lol!!!

  10. its been done before

    Kanye/ Chi Town.

  11. Nanz

    DANDAN- You forgot

    Virgo’s on Old Kent Road
2 pieces of chicken and chips from Morley’s

Oh I could go on and on lol…

  12. @7

Good observation…and Rasheeda aint too bad lookin either considering how most female rappers are a little rough on the eyes…but maybe maybe not, the song is JUST aight to me…if I heard it on the radio I wouldn’t do my signature dramatic station turn because it’s listenable but I’m not about to buy his album off that song…..

…oh and dude does look like Yung Berg LMFAO!!!!!

  13. thoro

Concept is good. However I do not know what is more sweeter a Georgia Peach or his voice. I wonder is he really thinking about Dudes while sining the song? hhhMMMmmm! How u doin? His voice is tooo sweet to be sing about chicks! Unfortunantley We know how the A get down! OKAYYYyyy!

  14. danDan

    @ NANZ, tell the truth

    The Big Cat in Catford
Streatham Ice-skating, you could bowl as well until they closed down Megabowl

I love London especially cos it’s so hot!!!

    :D

  15. Tommy_Gunn

I stopped listening to some old Dru Hill to listen to this shit and immediately regretted my decision. These new artists are lacking so much soul/originality. But the allure of making a quick buck selling ringtones out weighs the drive to create meaningful music these days. I can’t say Im mad at these people for wanting fast dollars. Jazmine Sullivans album needs to hurry up and drop.

  16. Focused1

*Sighs* I am so sick of this generic R&B sound. And once again, I hear that annoying auto tune. SMH. How about some individuality please? I agree with #17 mainstream R&B is lacking soul these days, which is why neo soul artists should get way more love on mainstream radio. I think that would make a lot of people step their game up.

  17. Brandon Charles

#18 said what I was going to say. The auto-tune is rapant through the entire song. I’d be surprised if he actually hit one note on key. I’m just sayin’. Not hatin’.

But the song is wack. Too Love In The Club ish with that synth and I’m kind of tired of all these songs about ATL. Get over it. I barely made it through 30 seconds of this song. After listening to this, I wouldn’t even check for another song by the artist.

  18. I TALK,YOU LISTEN

why do artist always focus on a particular city or section, doesn’t that alienate the listers?
    I am from Cleveland I don’t give a damn about the A….or a Georgia peach….(i ain’t hatin either.)

He must be only interested in being a local artist.
…on to my opinion musically, dude is ok he like a “dollar store” Bobby V.
and they over doing with that autotune vocal effect on his voice, its just too extra.
can dude really sing? its aiight I wouldn’t download it to my Ipod, but if it were plaing I would change the station….but it is definitely background music.

  19. she she

im with you # 4. im so sick of those polo da dawn or don tracks. cl put some real music up on there. find a artist out new york or somthing. or west cost.

  20. I TALK,YOU LISTEN

well since everyone is being hard on this cat, let me say that maybe there is more to him than this single….i mean most artists are misrepresented by their first single, usually it is a gimicky song that follows some sort of trend, then you get the album and deeper and better, like TWEET and The Dream….maybe this dude got a confessions or a street love, or some good material. He just had to follow suit with others, to get play….good luck.

p.s. those attacking his appearance or his “manhood” know ya’ll wrong.

  21. hood_shit

My thought- he likes boys based on that pic! lol

  22. BRIANA

the lyrics suck, but i kinda like his voice

  23. SoulSurvivor81

The song isn’t bad…it’s just that I’m getting tired of these regional songs! Im a New York dude…I just couldn’t relate!

  24. Theworldwillendin2012

I agree #4, its like everyone feels like they have to have sumthin 2 do with the A to make a hit, this song is absolutely generic, nuthin different, nuthin new, these pple need 2 stop, they’re killin me.

  25. misslamabean

its sounds good… song title + lyrics are tired… but if i was from the A i’d rep the song.. simply because of that mentality that we have to rep songs that are from our general location.. like its makes us special…
T-pain should get paid everytime someone uses that style now

  26. REALLIFE

THIS SONG IS THE SH*T! IF YOU HAVENT BEEN TO THE “A” YOU CAN’T UNDERSTAND WHAT HE IS TALKIN ABOUT; THINK ABOUT EVERY GIRL THINKS THERE A GEORGIA PEACH. I GOTO THE “A” DAMM NEAR THREE TIMES A MONTH JUST FOR THE WOMEN( COMMENT NUMBER 25 GET YO A** OUT OF NEW YORK AND SEE SOMETHING ELSE) . AND FOR ALL PEOPLE WHO DONT UNDERSTAND MUSIC INDUSTRY, ITS DAMM NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO COME OUT WITH A SONG THATS NOT GIMICKY AND EXCEPT PEOPLE TO LISTEN TO IT. YOUR FRIST SINGLE SUPPOSE TO CATCH PEOPLE EARS AND THATS WHAT HE DID. AS LONG AS THE NEXT SINGLE ISNT AS GIMICKY HE’S GOING TO DO REAL GOOD IN THE INDUSTRY. THIS SONG WILL BE A SMASH HIT!

P.S AND AUTO-TUNE IS NOT ON THE WHOLE SONG #19 AND #18

  27. dontgetmad...

ooh #4 i agree…you aint never lie, craig!
and umm 6, 7 w/e umm ga peach is what all
    ga ladies are called..
    rasheeda aint start shit..
hes a lil cute but this a generic ass song…

  28. Crissy Dee

Well.. I have already heard most of his music before this through a mutual friend and judging by his album, this musician is going to be a huge success. No offense to #20 but if you hear this kid’s album he sounds 200% better than Bobby Valentino. His sound is fresh, and unique. For all of the people who are wanting to hear more soul, Rantz definitely has soul. You have to understand he is trying to land a mainstream single, so of course it is going to be a little gimicky. Now today it is extremely hard to land a mainstream hit, and this song is exactly what he needs. The hook is catchy, and I can almost put money on it that if it hits radio it will get major spins. I’m not sure if he has anymore music out there floating around on myspace or etc, but I think he’s definitely worth another listen.

  29. misskdc

all of these male r&b singers are starting to sound alike!

  30. I TALK,YOU LISTEN

    @ 28 & @ 30

you are either a close friend, apart of his “team” or Rantz himself….
but i understand the need for damage control ….

like i said the song is aiight, it might do good in its target area Atlanta, but round my parts and yonder I have yet to here it…so like I said he (or you) must just want to be a local artist (atl ain’t poppin right now Miami iz) This dude is ok, but it is unclear with the vocal special effects if he can actually sing or not, and last I heard Bobby V didn’t doctor his voice with the Tpain autotune program. I am not a fan Bobby V sound either thats just came to mind when I heard his voice. His voice is nice, nuttin special or out of the ordinary.

@30 you say “he is worth another listen…” but unfortunately in this oversatuated market and as crowded as it is, you rarely get a second listen. now if this song was powered by a major label, co-signed by the rapper of the moment, had a video played religiously on 106 & Park, thru the means of payola, like most songs are these days, then yes…I am sure it will be a hit….but strickly based on a one listen format …NO….sorry try again….I am sure you…I mean he is talented but I just heard just like this other day…its just too forgettable.

  31. The Star Machine....a production/songwriting team

I like this guy’s sound, very marketable. I wonder if he needs any songwriting or production?

    if so hit us up!

  32. Miiami

I would probly think this song was better if there was no ‘Ah’ like the-dream does. And if maybe the tempo was slower. I feel like it could have mre potential if it was slower.

  33. Jaz

I actually think its really good, he has a beautiful sound. But I agree with number 30, you almost have to come out with something gimmicky to receive any air play. Once he’s out I think we will hear some pretty good music.
