R&B star, Usher along with his son, Usher Raymond V cover the August 2008 issue of Essence magazine. This is the first official look at the Usher V.
In the interview (conducted by actor/author Hill Harper) Usher speaks yet again on fatherhood, his marriage and rumors. Here is a snippet:
HILL HARPER: In the last year, you got married and you’ve had a baby. Which has changed you more?
USHER: They’re both linked—I can’t have one without the other. But the one thing that changed me the most is having a wife. Our child is an extension of that union.
HARPER: Why?
USHER: Because now I represent what he is to become. He’s gonna admire me, he’s gonna look up to me. He’s gonna say, “I wanna be”—or he should say— “I wanna be like my father. I wanna be a man of valor. I wanna possess what my father has as a man.” To get married was a choice. To have a child is a responsibility.

I get what you mean, but Beyonce was a multi-millionaire with endorsements before dating Jay. If Jay’s bank account was the main reason Daddy Matthew let his daughter date Jay, Matthew would have NEVER been against it in the first place. I don’t think Matthew ever really had a choice anyway, because Beyonce said tons of times that they fought a lot cause he didn’t wanna accept she was grown enough to live her life as she pleased.

I also agree (to a certain extent) that we shouldn’t have to congratulate a man on something he should be doing. The reality is however that there are a lot (far too many) men who are not doing living up to their responsibilty as a husband and/or father. So, Usher’s stance is a breath of fresh air.Also, celebrities are role models (although they shouldn’t be) for a lot of children out there. Maybe Usher will help set the model for those males who follow him that haven’t been taught otherwise that it’s o.k. to be a husband and father. I don’t know he will or not but this can’t hurt the cause. So with that being said:

Usher didn’t sell pictures of his son. He GAVE them to Essence for free. So check the facts before you wanna judge someone.

Man remember the days when all you knew about an artist was they were releasing an album or collaborating with another artist.
Now with blogs (although I love them) and other media outlets people think they know everything about these people.
1. No one really knows all the details behind the split between Usher & his mother.
2. No one knows how he feels about his wife.
3. U only know what u read….which is usually told 5 different ways b4 u get it…and u believe it. I dunno.
I do agree that he needs to be more private…..if they ask (interviewers) just go to the next question and focus on whatever project he is working on.
The album is not that bad…..#4, #7, #8, #14 are my favorites. How can some of you dislike something you never listened too?

When you really love someone you will sing it to the top of the mountains and as loud as you can. “Love in the club” was the weakest joint on the album to me. It had no substance and Jeezy (though think the guy is an ok rapper) “SUCKED”!! I dont even think he (Usher) likes the song.
Once again when some of you get married and have kids and are really in “LOVE” and not that fake Tv , movie, or cuz we get booty from each other and think thats love, love, you will not understand the meaning behind the album.

Please. I could care less about the meaning of ‘Here I Stand.’ It’s quite simple, my ear drums can’t take the CD. Nothing personal against Usher. The CD just bores me. I’m happy people enjoy the CD, I’m just not one of them. And don’t judge my personal life just because I dislike his CD.
