Tyler Perry is continues his yearly film release with the much anticipated film “The Family That Preys”. The movie starring Sanaa Lathan, Taraji P. Henson, Alfre Woodard, and Kathy Bates centers around two very different families matriarchs being torn apart by greed, scandal, and lots of great drama that makes up a good Perry film.
This is the sixth film release for Tyler and is due out in theaters this fall on September 12, 2008…

@ 46 and 47……
Guess I was reading to much into it that I totally missed the message……
We’re so used to his movies being about a little hardship, a little love, and a little church that I wasn’t thinking…..
Thanks guys.
I cannot wait to see this. I love that Tyler caters to various types of audiences.
Go head brotha and keep making it happen while all the broke folks sit around criticizing with unfullfilled dreams. A visionary cannot be stopped.
I must say I’m impress, Tyler Perry is talented, but let us admit, he does tend to make ghetto-stereotypical movies of what he thinks african americans “would like”, or feel they been through or can relate to……………………but this movie is different, he has stepped up tremendously, its a movie that all people can relate to, not just one specific group of people. go tyler perry!
My family and I are huge fans of Tyler Perry movies, but I was even more shocked to see a former friend (Kaydee Strickland) in film. I can’t wait to see the movie.
I think this movie looks fantabulous and I would pay to see it….
My girl Sanaa Lathan… love her to death and would support anything she does except for that Alien v. Predator trash!
Damn this one looks good, I wanna see it + it has Sanaa and we all know she’s a great actress so yea.
I’m not starting trouble, but can we agree that the correct spelling of “definately” is Definitely.
Yeah, this movie looks awesome.
Peace
Oh yes, I will be seeing this. I love Sanaa, Kathy Bates, and it’s good to see Robin.
boy i am so glad its not headlining Jennifer screaming Hudson.
I was so mad at first when i heard she was the main star and Sanaa was the co-star, now i see Tyler had some sense to drop her. Thank God
How in the fck does Jennifer Hudson be a lead and Sanaa a co-star, that woulda been real fcked up.
I dont give a fck bouther, she just lucked out on that oscar. If u aint earned your keep in the industry and you win an oscar, i really dont give a fck bout you. Just like i dont give a fck bout Cuba Gooding. Why. My Philosophy is earn ya keep before you earn an oscar so you can respect the value.
this looks SO good. Tyler you better get it, he stays working.
And Robin Givens is the icing on the cake!!!
I don’t know. I mean trailers are meant to build a movie up and make it look good. The trailer is supposed to make you wanna go see the movie. I’ve fallen for a good trailer before where Tyler Perry is concerned, but been disappointed with the finished product when I went to see the movie. To be quite frank, I feel that Mr. Perry is a sub-par screenwriter who only gets so much acclaim because he is just about the only black man in Hollywood producing movies targeted towards blacks. If a truly talented black producer/writer would come along and give him some competition then everyone would see that his movies really aren’t all that great. But I do try to, like most of you all, to support anything black that has positive intentions. I’m glad he’s employing a lot of actors and actresses that usually don’t get their fair share of work (ie…Cicely Tyson, Kimberly Elise, Angela Bassett, Sanaa Lathan, Alfre Woodard). I just feel that he really needs someone to check him. Hell maybe he needs to take a couple of classes on screenwriting, because Meet the Browns was just horrible! JMHO…I mean you know the white folks who distribute his movies don’t care, because no matter how bad they are, they always return a profit..
Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. It’s not like JHud was just sitting in her living room waiting for an audition. She put herself out there and was divinely blessed.
I wholeheartedly agree with you Jaye. But Tyler created his legacy; whether we like it or not. Success isn’t about the most talented person. Never was. It’s always about the person with the most persistence. I didn’t like “Why Did I get Married?” cause the story-line was weak; but I salute Tyler for doing things his way and turning thought into action. I mean bro did live in his car and now he’s vacationing with Oprah.
I always check myself cause it’s easy as hell to move my fingers across the keyboard and criticize. But I can’t possible know what it feels like to be Tyler Perry and arrive at a happy medium that will please all black folks including critics like me. If I want a better film I better make one.
I know a lot of ppl hate on Tyler. But where else can u see a movie with all these lovely black actors that’s not about killing? It’s refreshing
Man, I can’t wait till this movie comes out. It looks so scandalous. LOVIN IT. Oh and that white dude is HOT! I remember him in paparzi and just couldnt get over him. Good to se him in somethin else. I really hadnt noticed that Alfre & Sanaaa has played mother and daughter in so many movies.
Oh yeah and the cast looks spectacular.
I will definitely be in the theatres for this!! I love Sanaa and I can deal with a film without Madea His better films didnt have her featured {Diary…, Why Did I Get Married, and Daddy’s Little Girls} I can see this will be one of his better films too!! But I must ask what is up with that wig Tyler has on ?? His regular look wouldnt do?!
It look like it’s going to be good. At least it’s not his typical “I AM A SINGLE MOTHER, OBESED, MIDDLE AGE CHICK WHO IN THE END MARRIES A MODEL.”
Great man, I love him. Just feel curious. I saw your photos and profile at a black dating site called blackbbwmeet.com last week. Your many photos are found there. Is that you? What happened?
It looks like Tyler Perry is getting back on track, because he has really disappointed me with his last 2 projects which were awful : What’s Done in the Dark and House of Payne. Meet the Browns was alright to me, but the storyline was so weak and predictable, and like somone already said it borrowed from that awful play What’s Done in the Dark. Don’t get me wrong, I love the fact that he’s employing black actors, but that doesn’t changed the fact that when I see a movie or a play I want to see quality since I’m supporting it. lt felt like Tyler Perry was focusing too much on how many projects he released rather than the quality of each one. A radio host had mentioned that last week, and I agreed with him completely. But anyway, previews can be deceiving sometimes, but this looks like it will a quality film with a well structured story line. It’s about time. Hopefully if it is good, he’ll continue on this path with his future projects.
As Niecy Nash say, “Umpph”". Ima have to go see this one, it looks good.
“a good Perry film.” No such thing!
Kathy Bates in a Tyler Perry movie is good enough for me to see why she was interested. I was gonna see the movie anyway, but am more intrigued now that I see Kathy Bates is in it.
I CANNOT WAIT!!!!
I’d like to share it with the hotties who also like sports I met at R I C H L O V I N G.C O M,where the hot affluent singles and sexy girls and models to hook up for Hot Love, Flirt and Sexy Dating!
looks like im goin to be watching that. i like the way tyla perry always puts God in his films
I love Tyler Perry. I, however, was not a big fan of his plays. I always thought they were (despite the good messages) a little buffonish. After hearing his life story and seeing his work ethic, I have become a big supporter of his. To hear the strides he’s made and how far he’s come is inspiring.
I am also usually hard to please when it comes to movies but I was pleasantly surprised with Meet the Browns. No, It did not have the best or most original plot but it was just a feel good movie. I also respect the fact that he always employs black actresses that otherwise we wouldn’t get a chance to see. It would be great to see Tyler Perry, Spike Lee, and John Singleton get together and do something HUGE.
I cosign #73. Well said!
One thing I do know is that I do believe in the saying ” You can’t please eveybody all the time.” I do believe that Tyler Perry is a very talented playright, author, and screenwriter. He does employ a lot of talented black actors and actresses. Yes, I have seen Alfre Woodard potray Sanaa’s mother in quite a few films. But maybe they have a great chemistry together. Not all of his movies are really good it all depends on what the person’s intrests are. I’m glad that he’s doing the damn thing.
The movie looks really good I love Kathy Bates ( Titanic, Fried Green Tomatoes…) Also Cole look nice and I his voice is mmm…. Him and Sanaa seem like they will have alot of chemistry.
I think Tyler Perry is moving away from his Madea days and is looking to portray more relevant stories. This movie looks really good! I do support all of his work so I will definately go see this one!
this could be one of is not his bes movie, more professional accomplished cast. kathy bates, thats big business! if mainstream media promotes this = GREAT look!
I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT THIS IS A MOVIE THAT I AM INTERESTED IN SEEING, TYLER WAS GETTING ON MY LAST DAMN NERVE WITH THAT SAME OLE STORY LINE HE HAD GOING WITH “IM A BLACK WOMAN AND I BEEN DONE WRONG BY SOME BLACK MAN AND NOW HERE COMES THIS BLACK KNIGHT IN SHINNING ARMOUR TO SAVE THE DAY AND SHOW ME THAT NOT ALL BLACK MEN ARE DOGS, EVIL, BAD, CHEATERS, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH,” WHEN HE PULLED THAT LAST CRAP WITH MEET THE BROWNS I SAID OH HELL NO HE DIDN’T, IM DONE WITH TYLER, BUT THIS MOVIE SEEMS REALLY, REALLY GOOD, PLUS HE GOT MY GIRL SANAA LATHAN WITH HER MOMMA ALFRE WOODARD THEY ALWAYS WORK GOOD TOGETHER.
it might be a good flick–i usually support his movies but sometimes he gets lost in the script and ends up leaving out something vital and it ends weird like daddy’s little girls and why did i get married—the climax is always in the wrong place like the beginning or the end
interesting

I am very interested in seeing this. Looks like it could be another great one. Cool to see this movie take a different spin from the previous ones.
