Keri Hilson recently shot the video for her first single, “Energy,” directed by Melina. I’m really excited to see what they came up with. In the video, Keri portrays a boxer with her boyfriend as her trainer. It should be pretty interesting.

Keri will walk the video to both MTV and BET on Monday, with friend, mentor and collaborator, Timbaland. Her debut album, In A Perfect World… drops on September 23rd. I’m super happy for Keri, it’s been a long time coming!

Recently, a couple of songs have leaked from Teairra Mari. She has a new single out, titled “No No No,” which she’s been pumping out but it definitely could use some more promotion. But it’s been confirmed that since being dropped from Roc-A-Fella after her debut album, Teairra has inked a new deal with Interscope Records, via Fo Real Entertainment, Managed by Cudda Love, whose roster includes Nelly.

“I got a call before my high-school graduation,” recalls Mari. “I kept it to myself for about six months; I didn’t even tell my mom. Then news about it started coming out on the radio. I stopped doing music for a year.”

Teairra, who plans to release her sophomore album late this year or at the top of 2009, had her first single “Make Her Feel Good” peak at #9 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, while her first album, Roc-A-Fella Records Presents Teairra Mari reached #2 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and #5 on The Billboard 200. The release has sold 248,000 units, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Spending time with family as she regrouped, Mari was introduced to Cudda Love. He brought her to Los Angeles, where she cut several songs and eventually signed with his company. Mari’s production collaborators on her sophomore set include Timbaland, J.R. Rotem and Nephew and seems really confident about where she is right now.

“I’m at a good point now, with more creative control to be Teairra Mari,” says the L.A.-based singer/songwriter. “The last time out, I was more concerned about trying to get a platinum album instead of enjoying the journey. I love music and that’s what it’s really about: getting my message across to those who want to hear it.”
