Michelle Williams, former bandmate of Destiny’s Child has pushed back her album from an August 12th release to October 7th. Despite “We Break the Dawn” hitting #1 on Billboard’s dance charts, I think the album has been pushed back due to a lack of promotion. There was a dispute where BET wasn’t giving Michelle’s video any airplay.
The plan is to send out “The Greatest” as Michelle’s official second single, as well as churning out “Hello Heartbreak” for dance radio. The general response to Michelle’s material has been positive overall, so hopefully this new strategy for the album release works out. I definitely don’t want Michelle to suffer from what Kelly endured during the U.S. release of her sophomore effort, Ms. Kelly.
In the mean time, Solange and Michelle were both due out to release albums two weeks apart, so you can still pick up SoL-Angel & the Hadley Street Dreams (check out the official album cover here) on the 26th of August.
JAZMINE SULLIVAN LIVE
This isn’t really news, but the internet has been going nuts (not to mention my inbox) over this new live performance from Jazmine Sullivan. “In Love With Another Man” is the song that had J. Records executives on their feet when she performed it live for them, and apparently, it sealed the deal for the 21-year-old songstress. Well, here she is performing in the Seventeen Magazine offices, with just her pipes and the piano.

T-BOZ SIGNS SOLO DEAL?
T-Boz of legendary female group TLC has signed on for a solo deal with SRC/Universal. I’m a little hesitant about this project, even though I have always loved T-Boz’s trademark raspy voice. According to sources, T-Boz has already begun work on her untitled solo debut album, and has been collaborating with Dallas Austin, Polow Da Don and Raphael Saadiq.
This could actually shape up to be interesting. I would love to hear what Raphael would do with T-Boz’s unique voice.
I guess the only reason I’m slightly unsure about this solo venture is because Chili has found little to no success with this solo project that she’s been working on, with its lead single, “Dumb Dumb Dumb.” I haven’t really heard anything else from her since, nor anything else about her project. I’m just a little worried about how T-Boz will be received when her material starts to surface.

Hi Brian. T-Boz does a song called Different Times with Raphael on his album Instant Vintage, it’s a hot song. That should give you an idea of how their talents sound together.

First things first: damn…Jasmine Sullivan is about to have a lot of female singers pulling their weaves out! I am so glad to see that she really does sound good without major production driving the song. Secondly, I do not see how Kelly Rowland’s album could have recieved any better promotion than it got. Promotion was not the problem, because the cd was advertised everywhere for over a year before it was acually released. Copies of it were leaked in antcipation of its release, and that is what hurt her sales. People saw that Miss Kelly didn’t have strong enough material to piss away a hard earned fifteen bucks or so. Latoya had a gold single with “Torn” and managed to sale a few albums off of “she don’t.” Once people heard the rest of the record, it was nothing that could be done to help it sell; people have ears and opinions! And in most cases, even if people bootleg a cd that they like, they still go out and buy it when it is released in stores. I think that Michelle is just suffering the same fait as the others for the ame reason as they did. Nobody from Beyonce’s camp is sabotaging the other girls. I mean, Salonge’s first cd went copper or glass didn’t it? She is Beyonce’s sister. It just is what it is. Sadly, I think that Kelly sings better than Beyonce; Kelly just needs better songs, and to stop trying so hard to show us her ghetto side (or at least come with something a little better than the collaboration with Snoop next time she gets it in her head to try). I think the reason we like her is because she is so regal and poised and humble along with her talent. She doesn’t need a gimic. Taking the song she had with Da Brat off Miss Kelly also was a silly move, because that is one of the highlights of the bootlegged copy.
I can’t wait for Jazmine’s album!!! She sounds like Kim Burell. I LOVE her voice!!!
