Songbird Brandy is gearing up for the release of her new album, and it seems as though she’s got the internet going nuts with this new promo shot that’s leaked. Just a few days ago, she also released a bit of the new material that she’s been in the studio working on, a track entitled “List,” (listen here) that also Brandy fans were going up for.
In any event, it’s been reported that Brandy will release her official first single on August 8th via her MySpace page. Her new album, which hasn’t been titled yet, will be her first release on Epic Records.
It hasn’t been confirmed who the single was produced by, but I’m sure it will not disappointed, with Brandy’s stellar vocal performance, and the host of A-list producers and songwriters on the project. Brandy has relinked with friend and long time collaborator, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, our good friends with The Clutch, the talented Bryan-Michael Cox, and CL’s homegirl, Keri Hilson.

I love her so much. She is a a beautiful person inside and out and the new music is incredible!! Her album will be the type that anyone can listen to. She’s about to come back really strong for her fans . Look out for a preview of the first single soon! She has a MAJOR duet on this album as well with another superstar that I can’t say .

#108 (what you know about that)…….I heard it from Ray-J’s publicist, they had to push around some interviews for him and one of his performances that he is doing for the tour is on with Bow Wow because of a death in the family….I’m guessing that’s why Brandy probably pushed her single release date back 2 weeks, because originally we was supposed to hear something from her late next week.

I’m just a bit curious.The Magazine HOLLYWOOD GOSSIP reported her profiles were found on the famous wealthy dating club R I C H L O V I N G.C O M last week and she was seeking her new guy there now! BTW, The girls there are really hot!
I love Brandy’s music. But this is a new day. Artist like Brandy, Monica, and Toni Braxton will probably never have the top of success like they had back in the 90′s. Janet Jackson and Ashanti could not do it, so what makes Brandy think she can. The stage now belongs to Beyonce, Rihanna and Ciara. Fast forward to five years from now, Beyonce Rihanna and Ciara will probably be replaced by young new starlets and will struggle just like the ladies from the 90′s. It is just the state of the industry. Out with the old and in with the new.
The only female artist that can seem to rise above the music industries image over talent is Mary J. She seems to be the only artist that has evolved over the years and has a fan base of young and the older generation.
I”ve read all the comments (since there are no new updates) and #135 is 100 percent correct. However, he/she forgot to mention Mariah. Her and Mary came back hard over the past year with Grammy’s, #1 albums/singles. M and MJ are the only 2 female artists I can think of whose careers spands over 10 years and can still sell records.
Janet, as much as I love her, latest comeback was an embarrassment. I really felt for her.
@135 and 136 there’s truth to both of your statements. However for me, as a fan of Brandy or any artist who can’t top the charts today but still puts out good music (i.e. Joe, Tamia) I don’t really care about the success, it’s about the music for me.
I appreciate the fact that they continue to make great albums, because essentially they’re doing it for the fans, for their love of the music, and for the art.
I don’t care if they’re all over the media and releasing single after single and selling out arenas, as long I can pop that cd in my car and put it on my iPOD, I’m good!

You are so right! But I think what people fail to realize is that WE have the power to put people back in the top spot. As long as people that actually like her music keep doubting her ability to get on top…she probably won’t ever do it again. But if you support good music all will be well. It’s just that simple. There are so many gimmicky artists out there who are selling, yet they have THE most bland music! Take Rihanna for example, I like her, don’t get me wrong, but she really is not selling as well as people think. She’s had some successful singles, but through all the hype, she’s only sold about 1 million albums. Compare that to Justin Timberlake, Mary J. Blige, and Alicia Keys….it’s really not that much. She’s just managed to market HERSELF as a product…which is great. But let’s be honest, it’s really not about her music. It’s about what her next tattoo will be, or what her next outfit will look like, or what her next haircut will be.

I could not help but feel like she was a big liar when her marriage proved to be a sham – that was so unnecessary and something her and her bogus husband could have kept to themselves.

In the Uk I don’t think we get as much tabloid information on US rnb stars as you guys obviously get in America so for us our opinion of Brandy is based purely off her talent and reputation for putting out good music. Things like the marriage and the car crash are not reported on in as much detail so they simply add to her mystique as an artist and fuel our perception of what we think she’ll talk about in her music. I’ve been a huge fan of Brandy since forever; her and Aaliyah were completely different in everything from their voices to their looks to the way they performed, their images and their styles of music so comparisons between those two are beyond pointless so please cut it out. True fans of 90′s music loved both of them to death and still do, I think only bored haters would want to create beef over two artists who very much respected each other. Plus Aaliyah is no longer here to show these todays wannabes who’s boss so it’s unfair to compare her to todays artists. When Brandy drops her new material I know I won’t need to hear a lick of music to justify buying it. Brandy is from an era whn true fans of music invested in artists…Brandy is consistant with her projects, can sing her ass off and as others have said is always challenging herself and growing as an artist and vocalist and she’s never let me down where it counts and that’s on her music projects. Fair enough if you want to judge her for her personal life instead of her art then that’s on you, I only hope you hold the mirror up to yourself with as much scrutiny. I’m sure you will find yourself to be as full of flaws and mistakes as Brandy, but where it counts i.e. musically, Brandy is the one and she will bring it for real as she has always done. My one hope is that she is promoted right this time. If she isn’t though, it won’t affect the quality of her album.
