♫ Janelle Monáe – Many Moons

Janelle Monáe is gearing up to release of her debut album, Metropolis. Here is the new single for the release, “Many Moons,” produced by Nate Wonder, Chuck Lightning & Janelle Monáe, for which she just shot a video for this a couple of weeks ago in Los Angeles.

Janelle’s new EP drops August 12, and the whole entire Bad Boy and Atlantic families, who have partnered with The Wondaland Arts Society to bring you Janelle’s latest project, are absolutely stoked about the new project. “Many Moons” is a darker, scarier look into the world of Metropolis, but still with that classic fun that fans have learned to love from Janelle’s music. Look out for more music from Miss Monáe, and be sure to pick up the EP on August 12.

    I wasn’t feeling the song at first listen. Then something made me play it again, then again and again. Then, I went to Youtube and found more of her music (Sincerely Jane is sick!). She is phenomenal! SHE ACTUALLY USES REAL INSTRUMENTS IN HER SONGS! In “Sincerely Jane” I heard the french horn, string instruments…hell, I heard a damn TUBA! The woman can sing, preform and entertain! Diddy knew what he was doing when he approached her and asked her TO PARTNER with his label. SHE IS THE ONLY WOMAN ON HIS LABEL THAT HAS AN IMAGINATION AND THE LUNGS TO BELT OUT A GOOD SONG. Not to be too rude, but Cassie is not where it’s at and Diddy knows that! THERE IS A RENAISSANCE GOING ON IN ATLANTA, just like the Harlem Renaissance in the 1920s. WAKE UP PEOPLE! JANELLE MONAE IS APART OF IT!

    I’m glad to see others gettin’ it. I think she has a wonderful TRAINED voice. I agree with alot of you on the BEY’s and Rhiannas. It’s enough to have one! ( LIKE BOTH )Not many ARTISTS these days have a complete vision. Janelle is like Bjork to me; AN ARTISTS’S ARTIST.     @ 121 JUDAH I’m convinced you are psycho…”witchcraft” are you serious?? You clearly dont understand her music at all. She’s actually touching on a lot of messages namely; LOVE, race, racism, black youth, war, drugs, violence, freedom, captivity (enslavement), creativity, conformity. You are so close minded it’s not even funny. You’re the one who was talking about that Nelson Mandela crap.

    She’s only using the alien space theme as a metaphor, sort of a backdrop for the message she’s trying to convery. Lupe Fiasco uses the same method in his music. They can’t be blatantly say what they’re talking about or some people will think it’s coming off as “preachy” and automatically turn off, which btw is a word they both use in interviews to describe it. And they both actually have similiar messages, Lupe’s is geared more towards the hip hop community. Im not going to get too deep into an explanation becuase there are so many layers to her music that it would be an injustice to her.

    Janelle is the TRUTH! Listen closely to the lyrics of this songs…there’s substance there – she really has something to say. The production is riduculous as well – her and her team at Wondaland are creative genuises. On top of that she’s an entertainer – she’s going to put on a SHOW! You’re going to enjoy it and wanna dance…her hair – fly! Natural with high fashion flare..(reference Vogue magazine spreads…sheesh) and her style unmatched – she’s a breath of fresh air and I wish people would be more open minded and get into it! I’m behind you 1000 percent Janelle – your career is going to continue to soar and you’re going to touch and inspire PEOPLE all over the universe.

I hope they have it in Germany.;( Also, the shirt she has on in the picture above doesn’t look like the black and white outfit she wears in her shows for her website and Mtv.com… looks different to me.

    itunes had the Metropolis EP last September…I got it back then and loved it! If it’s the same EP, then it tells the story that’s in the future of an android girl that falls in love with a man named Benjamin and is then hunted down by the police. Kind of like Blade Runner… It sounds odd, I know, but I really dig it. I listened to it nonstop! If you liked this song, you should check it out…

    Been down with Janelle since Big Boi introduced her on Purple Ribbon. Anyone that’s been down with her since then or before knows that she’s the truth and no gimmick. Venture over to Youtube and watch the countless videos of her performin and interviews. She is cemented in her conviction to express her creativity and imagination unapologetically without compromise. Personally, I think she is about to blow, much in the same way Kast did. We’ll see. Either way I’m happy for her and will support regardless. And Puffy has nothing to do whatsoever witht the creation of the music. All the music was done before she even inked the deal with Puff.

    And @ Tessa, I say this with a lil reluctance because using this word has become a lil cliche because it’s tossed around so much but…you sound like a hater. First, you aint never seen Ms. Janelle Monae with her ass and titties hangin out. If you’ve ever seen her speak you would know that that would go against everythings she stands for and that would make her a hypocrit of epic proportions. Second, nothing is completely original. However, what Janelle is doing is about as close as you gone get. Take off the blinders for a just a sec and maybe you’ll be able to appreciate what she is trying to do.

    I’m an old school head, so I wasn’t so interested in finding out who this young lady was. I am not too interested in today’s artist. But today has changed my point of view. I just saw Janelle in concert. She is great! CL really put her on. I love her voice and style. She sounds better in person. I have to quote a poster 172- Kena-smilez all day: ” I am excited about music again!”
