♫ NEW MUSIC FROM WHITNEY HOUSTON ♫

Saturday, July 26, 2008

WHITNEY HOUSTON FEAT. AKON - LIKE I NEVER LEFT

Whitney Houston joins forces with hitmaker Akon to bring you some new music. “Like I Never Left” is a cool mid-tempo love song, but when listening, I kind of think it has two meanings. I detected a bit of, I don’t know, an apology from Whitney Houston in some form? Almost as if she wants her fans to overlook what’s been going on in her personally life, and just embrace her again as the icon that she was.

Whitney has been performing, so hopefully this will be her comeback for the new album that people have been talking about for a while now. Supposedly, she is also working with Ne-Yo for this upcoming project.

I am definitely loving this right here. And I agree on the subliminal message. I am very excited for Whitney - the Legend. She’s human - I don’t hold anything against her, because from what I see, she’s trying. Much love Whitney, bring it back like you never left!

What the hellz is this junk, she’s a LEGEND, where is the voice? where is the great hook, here’s what i think, she got drunk, went into the studio with Akon (accused molester) and came out with some junk, i just don’t understand why whitney doesn’t even try…..

Ashanti could have sung this better…I’m so disappointed, junk, junk, junk…..

who would have thought Mariah would sing Whitney under a table

Whitney’s hey day has passed. The Boyguard represented her peak of her voice and popularity. However; I must say that alot has changed since then and I am proud of her for getting herself together. Now “Like I Never Left” is not groundbreaking, but it is a very nice song. The melody is subtle and just enough, avoiding being over-produced. The lyrics and title are two-fold, addressing the public vs Whitney as well as the songs fictional love interest. I am excited to hear the tone in Whitney’s voice sounding better than it has in years. We as fans should be realistic. She has already made the greatest music of her career. Considering the changes she has gone through I’m pleased with what I hear. My only hope is that the changes have affected her personal life as well.

Saturday, July 26, 2008 /

to your comment TYTY, whitney does not need to sing big ballads whith long powerful notes on all her songs, this song is a nice refreshing summer song.

Ashanti could not even sing a nuresery ryhme so PLEASE dont say her name along with the voice.

In reference to Mariah singing Whitney under the table, if that involves dressing like a hooker and pressing buttons in her ears to make awful sounds, lip synching and awful cheography, ok then

Saturday, July 26, 2008 /

Average song. Hope it is not a single and just album filler. Akon makes it worse. She’s a legend and he isn’t on her level to even be on the same track. Just produce Akon and shut the hell up. It’s nice to hear from her again. I want to hear the R-Kelly penned “I Look To You.” That’s going to sound great. Why is 23 hating on Mariah? The person before you mentioned her because she isn’t giving the usual vocals so stop trippin. We all know Whitney can sing.

32.

okay......

Saturday, July 26, 2008 /

@ #20 : Why does Brian have to be on drugs, I understood what he was saying, if you actually listen to the song , you would get the other meaning he was referring to, the literal meaning of her and akon loving eachother like they never left, Brian only stated the undertone meaning that some might not get, but as i digress……………..

…………… I’m not a fan of this song, Mainly because of Akon’s involvement, hopefully we will be hearing more from Whitney, that doesent include guest vocals. And for the record, i would love for Whitney to bust out with some old school rnb and not conform to the masses just to sell, Sing for the art, not the money.

I don’t like it. Its not the same whitney. The old whitney use to rip through a track like it was nothing, effortlessly. This song sounds way to processed and pro tooled up. Her voice is clearly not the same.

I like akon but I honestly am tired of him he sounds exactly the same in every song. There just isn’t any variety in this song, nothing about it stands out to me.

I think its a good cool nice groove. Surely U didnt expect her to jump out shakin her a** or yoddleing all over the stage. I actually think that its a “test leak” to see how the public was feeling hearing her back on the radio and having good strong vocals. I say sit back enjoy and see all the great material that she is about to release. Thank God she is cleaning up and getting back focused.

@Stacy

I’m 20, and To be honest, she dont need no damn Akon co-sign her, Michael Jackson neither. Leave the Akon’s & T-Pain’s for Flo Rida, E-40, Gwen Stefani. & Britney Spears and them because either they are Irrelevent or they tryin to add a little Flavor in their sound. Whitney & Mike dont need them fools. Whitney cant be this damn desperate. Do yall see Prince or Tina Turner fuckin with them? NO!!! She should go to someone better, like Wyclef again or Timbaland or Bryan Michael Cox, The Underdogs. More established and creative producers.

Whitney needs to give it up…get into producing movies…maybe go back to ACTING…because the ship has sailed. And it probably has very little to do with her past…I don’t think ANY older audience can have the success they had before with this generation of consumers. I’ve said before it’s about an obsession with youth, but I’m not so sure it isn’t about novelty. I think artists who had success as recent as five years ago, like Beyonce and Usher won’t ever have it again at that level. And it’s because Consumers don’t give that much weight to music anymore (because everyday life is pretty bleak) and so they want something that amuses them in a sorty of fanciful or whimsical way. And I think the artists who actually amuse them and also happen to be very good singers are just lucky…like Amy Winehouse, whose music is the best we’ve heard in decades but is also very animated, a white girl with a bee hive and crack addiction… Or Lil Wayne who, like Amy Winehouse, actually makes good music, gritty spontaneous prose but is also a wanton drug addict and an unrepentantly stereotypical looking kid… Or Rihanna who actually can hold a note and has made some of the best euro dance stuff in years but probably doesn’t deserve all her success and is probably most appealing because a generation of people like the escapism of a musician who is famous because she’s a fashion icon who breaks all the rules or are amused by a black girl who seems to seriously want to be a rocker. And the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus, of course.

@ Comment #53: PIXIE IS CENSORED

-You can’t put Whitney in the same category as Beyonce, Usher, Amy Whinehouse, Lil Wayne or any other of the artists you mentioned in your comments. If you have paid much attention to the blogs and entries relating to Whitney, you will see that she has an undeniable fan base. Both young and old know her past, know what she has been through and genuinely want to see her do well. Even in this day and age of digital downloading, low CD sales, and a very fickle audience, people will still go out and support Whitney. Whitney has a whole lifetime of experience both good and bad. The artists you mentioned are still in their infant stages compared to Whitney.

It’s pretty insulting to an artist or anyone for that matter when you say they “probably don’t deserve their success”. How would you feel if you were passionate about a particular craft, worked your butt of to succeed, reached a high plateau in your field and then someone came along and told you that you don’t deserve the adulation you receive? Wouldn’t feel too good would it…?

You are certainly, just like the rest of us, entitled to your opinion. However, there’s a difference between having an opinion and just plain being ignorant.
