♫ NEW MUSIC FROM WHITNEY HOUSTON ♫

Whitney Houston joins forces with hitmaker Akon to bring you some new music. “Like I Never Left” is a cool mid-tempo love song, but when listening, I kind of think it has two meanings. I detected a bit of, I don’t know, an apology from Whitney Houston in some form? Almost as if she wants her fans to overlook what’s been going on in her personally life, and just embrace her again as the icon that she was.

Whitney has been performing, so hopefully this will be her comeback for the new album that people have been talking about for a while now. Supposedly, she is also working with Ne-Yo for this upcoming project.

  11. I am definitely loving this right here. And I agree on the subliminal message. I am very excited for Whitney – the Legend. She’s human – I don’t hold anything against her, because from what I see, she’s trying. Much love Whitney, bring it back like you never left!

  12. I like it….Glad Whitney’s back..

  13. Lisa Lisa

Whitney is my FAVORITE FAVORITE singer ever. No one can touch her and I am soooo glad she is making a comeback. loved her first CD and especially the bodyguard CD. I hope she comes with a couple of rally soulful songs as well as pop… I love her voice!

  14. I like it…Glad Whitney’s back….

  15. GENIE JAH JAH

I’m sorry I love her but all I can think about is Russ Parr and Wiggy Houston calling up to the station, that shyt is so d@mn funny. LMAO

  16. Only 1 Ken-E

Eh It’s def a Whitney Houston song but it sound too much like what Akon did on Michael Jackson’s new song.

  17. TyTy

What the hellz is this junk, she’s a LEGEND, where is the voice? where is the great hook, here’s what i think, she got drunk, went into the studio with Akon (accused molester) and came out with some junk, i just don’t understand why whitney doesn’t even try…..

Ashanti could have sung this better…I’m so disappointed, junk, junk, junk…..

who would have thought Mariah would sing Whitney under a table

  18. Whitney and Akon……….what’s next for her……Lil Weezy

  19. Nothing But Love

Im kinda feeling this song but i really wish Akon would have kept his mouth shut on this track, but anywhoo… great to have you back Whitney!!! :)

  20. POWER!

BIG BANGGGGGG!!! BABY I’M HERE FOR YOU….. YOU NEVER LEFT AND SO IT’S NOT A COMEBACK………. I LOVE YOU WHITNEY….POWER! SAYS SO!!

  21. I’m still waiting on my girl Brandy……..not feeling anyone else.

  22. Nothing But Love

Brian… im beginning to think your on drugs you said that you interpreted two meanings from the song but you’ve only written one in the review.. what was the second interpretation???

  23. TORIANO

Whitney’s hey day has passed. The Boyguard represented her peak of her voice and popularity. However; I must say that alot has changed since then and I am proud of her for getting herself together. Now “Like I Never Left” is not groundbreaking, but it is a very nice song. The melody is subtle and just enough, avoiding being over-produced. The lyrics and title are two-fold, addressing the public vs Whitney as well as the songs fictional love interest. I am excited to hear the tone in Whitney’s voice sounding better than it has in years. We as fans should be realistic. She has already made the greatest music of her career. Considering the changes she has gone through I’m pleased with what I hear. My only hope is that the changes have affected her personal life as well.

  24. peace

    I’M SO HAPPY FOR HER
    GOOD SONG

  25. kayden88

to your comment TYTY, whitney does not need to sing big ballads whith long powerful notes on all her songs, this song is a nice refreshing summer song.

Ashanti could not even sing a nuresery ryhme so PLEASE dont say her name along with the voice.

In reference to Mariah singing Whitney under the table, if that involves dressing like a hooker and pressing buttons in her ears to make awful sounds, lip synching and awful cheography, ok then

  26. therealest

The Whitney houston comeback without Bobby I hope she do good.

  27. Zeinabou

no no no no why? shut up akon shut up!!!! and whitney i dont like it why?!

  28. ECT8

    Two words::::::::::::::::: THE VOICE

  29. B

I actually like the song a lot. It’s nice to hear some new stuff from whitney! And about Mariah singing better than Whitney….PLEASE. Mariah’s best is long gone as well. So just enjoy them both for what they are bringing to the table.

  30. Truth80

Average song. Hope it is not a single and just album filler. Akon makes it worse. She’s a legend and he isn’t on her level to even be on the same track. Just produce Akon and shut the hell up. It’s nice to hear from her again. I want to hear the R-Kelly penned “I Look To You.” That’s going to sound great. Why is 23 hating on Mariah? The person before you mentioned her because she isn’t giving the usual vocals so stop trippin. We all know Whitney can sing.

  31. okay......

@ #20 : Why does Brian have to be on drugs, I understood what he was saying, if you actually listen to the song , you would get the other meaning he was referring to, the literal meaning of her and akon loving eachother like they never left, Brian only stated the undertone meaning that some might not get, but as i digress……………..

…………… I’m not a fan of this song, Mainly because of Akon’s involvement, hopefully we will be hearing more from Whitney, that doesent include guest vocals. And for the record, i would love for Whitney to bust out with some old school rnb and not conform to the masses just to sell, Sing for the art, not the money.

  32. 8baller

    Akon was not needed.

    The song is mediocre.

  33. duonayoyo

I strongly suggest you get more from the hot inter-racial dating club
‘ blackwhitefriends.com’ where LOve is color blind and you can meet many cute sport babes, both black and white and try more……

  34. Instructor

I’m happy to hear from her again even though I cannot stand to listen to akon. And for all the haters – STFU! Either support it or shut up!

  35. Q.B.

Im really digging this song, but she coulda did without Akon he’s not a real singer and has bad vocals

  36. bklyn-bella

I don’t like it. Its not the same whitney. The old whitney use to rip through a track like it was nothing, effortlessly. This song sounds way to processed and pro tooled up. Her voice is clearly not the same.

I like akon but I honestly am tired of him he sounds exactly the same in every song. There just isn’t any variety in this song, nothing about it stands out to me.

  37. Kapyophi

I think its a good cool nice groove. Surely U didnt expect her to jump out shakin her a** or yoddleing all over the stage. I actually think that its a “test leak” to see how the public was feeling hearing her back on the radio and having good strong vocals. I say sit back enjoy and see all the great material that she is about to release. Thank God she is cleaning up and getting back focused.

  38. Tracey Chatmon

I am a HUGE Whitney fan and I can’t wait for her album to be released. I am
so happy to see her back looking healthy and happy. Whitney, God bless you
and welcome back. You are still The Greatest! Love Ya!

  39. MsThang

Whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitney…OMG im so ready for u mama. Im in luv wit dis joint n i cant wait for album to drop. We’re humans we make mistakes so me ready to support u mama. Akon too

  40. Trisha

    Stop hating on Akon

Realize this Akon his a hitmaker everysong he do becomes a HIT
and Whitney shoulld let this song be her first single that would be a great choice.
Akon would make thing song to be #1.
Whitney go girl and she don’t
have to be strong on every song she does.

  41. Trisha

    *Typos*
    my bad…..

  42. Dame

Hmmm the song would be better with Akon. I am excited about Whitney’s new music. I’ve been a fan since I’m Your Baby Tonight.

  43. Young One

This shit is wack. Yall know good a damn well that yall wouldnt accept this from a new artist, Whitney can do WAYYYY BETTER THAN THIS!!!

  44. Stacy

@Young One: That’s your personal opinion it may be whack to you but not others

I’m 45 years old and I been a fan of Whitney since day 1 and still a fan of hers I’m happy for my girl she would making this time with the help of AKON she going be number 1 with him.Love the song and the album can’t wait for it.
    LOVE YOU WHITNEY!!

  45. BRIANA

it’s nice..wish she would’ve collaborated with someone else for her big debut..akon isn’t doing it for me

  46. CGJ

I’m the biggest Whitney Houston fan EVER. For me, this song has some good moments, but overall, I’m not feeling it. But, I’ll keep listening to it. I’m rooting for Whitney, praying for her continued recovery, wishing her great success and sending positivity her way…

  47. Elaine

  49. Young One

    @Stacy

I’m 20, and To be honest, she dont need no damn Akon co-sign her, Michael Jackson neither. Leave the Akon’s & T-Pain’s for Flo Rida, E-40, Gwen Stefani. & Britney Spears and them because either they are Irrelevent or they tryin to add a little Flavor in their sound. Whitney & Mike dont need them fools. Whitney cant be this damn desperate. Do yall see Prince or Tina Turner fuckin with them? NO!!! She should go to someone better, like Wyclef again or Timbaland or Bryan Michael Cox, The Underdogs. More established and creative producers.

  50. Pixie is Censored

Whitney needs to give it up…get into producing movies…maybe go back to ACTING…because the ship has sailed. And it probably has very little to do with her past…I don’t think ANY older audience can have the success they had before with this generation of consumers. I’ve said before it’s about an obsession with youth, but I’m not so sure it isn’t about novelty. I think artists who had success as recent as five years ago, like Beyonce and Usher won’t ever have it again at that level. And it’s because Consumers don’t give that much weight to music anymore (because everyday life is pretty bleak) and so they want something that amuses them in a sorty of fanciful or whimsical way. And I think the artists who actually amuse them and also happen to be very good singers are just lucky…like Amy Winehouse, whose music is the best we’ve heard in decades but is also very animated, a white girl with a bee hive and crack addiction… Or Lil Wayne who, like Amy Winehouse, actually makes good music, gritty spontaneous prose but is also a wanton drug addict and an unrepentantly stereotypical looking kid… Or Rihanna who actually can hold a note and has made some of the best euro dance stuff in years but probably doesn’t deserve all her success and is probably most appealing because a generation of people like the escapism of a musician who is famous because she’s a fashion icon who breaks all the rules or are amused by a black girl who seems to seriously want to be a rocker. And the Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus, of course.

  51. Pixie is Censored

I meant any older “artist” not audience.

  52. mike

NICE! My friend recommended me a very interesting place ☆☆☆”NYwealthyMatch . c o m”"”"”"”"☆☆☆ If you’ve ever been there you will know what I mean….

  53. LatinNippy24

It’s about time The Voice returns to reclaim her thrown. Whitney Houston’s new track is HAWT and refreshing! Great to hear you Nip! No one can ever come close to you because you are a legend that has talent like no one ever has or ever will have! God bless you and I can’t wait to see you back on top…where you belong.

The best is yet to come ya’ll!

  54. Nothing But Love

    #32 aka OKAY..

I didn’t say he was on drugs i said im beginning to think he is on drugs theres a difference..but anyway i said that because he started off saying something and didn’t finish it, i got what he was saying as well but i wanted to know what he thought the second meaning was.

  55. GreatestLoveOfAll

Nice song, the voice is definitely gettin better. If Clive Davis DIDN’T have faith in Whitney, he’d never have given this project (well at least under his assistance!) the green light. Akon, while he’s a wackass singer, is a VERY GOOD producer.

  56. i am

i love the song this is the type of song she needs right now. this is the kind of song radio is playing. Welcome back Whitney
