He says nothing about the fact that they use none of their enormous wealth to create businesses that create jobs for our displaced workers.

Education is nothing in a highly discriminatory world, where Blacks are routinely told they’re overly qualified for the position.

He says nothing about the fact that they “GIVE BACK” nothing to the black community with jobs, and he listens to their pathetic excuses about not being able to find qualified black people when we have CEOs, upper managers, and middle managers, and low level people who worked hard for white corporate america and still are unemployed.

Too many of these fools forget that they didn’t walk their dusty cotton feet into corporate america, and just fit right in. Some white man was patient, kind, and thoughtfully mentored their country selves for YEARS, and yet they refuse to do the same for blacks of today who still languish in the ghetto. Some of the very people they criticize likely had ancestors who died to get them where they are.

Worst of all with all the black wealth in hollywood they are still to irresponsible to own a major studio or TV network to control black images, and to create their OWN jobs, but instead are still dependent upon the white man for work. How dumb is that??

The media and the world really should be upset that the Olympic Committee decided to have the Olympics in a country where human rights are violated. I, get being upset over the whole African drama, but what about the oppression of Chinese people, that live their everyday. Black people focus too much on themselves.

When do people take responsibility for their own choices? My parents were immigrants to the US, I was born here, grew up in a prodominately mix neighborhood until my parents moved us to the “black” county where I watched classmates with the same opportunity I had throw it away for something stupid, a choice that made them feel good in the moment.

I went to college, I did not do drugs or get pregnant, I studied when others partied and got high, I went to law school, then I got a my masters degree, and everyday I see what those choices have done for me.

So what the world is not fair, corporate America is racist, black people are racist, but I will not use my community or my choices to let anyone say part of my success was not due to my choices or that they were derived from some white man who gave me an opportunity. No actually it was a black man, one of the most brillant legal minds of our time (who happens to be black) and another black lawyer who gave me an opportunity out of law school because I made the right choice, the same ones we all have, for some it may be less visual then others but they are still there.

This is one of the few countries were an education is free and I see people throw it away every day, for what, so in a year or two you can be standing in the check out line as a cashier making minimum wage saying its the man, when actually it was your choice not to see that your decision today will effect your life in the long run.

People kill me when they say our schools are more harmful then helpful, there was a time when black couldn’t attend school but learn to read, when people didnt completes the first grade (let alone high school) because their parent where sharecroppers and needed the extra hands in the field but those individuals still grew up and became leaders in our country, created their own business, built homes, owned land. And yet people want to blame schools because they lack resources, hell black people have never had equal resources but we still found a way so I do not buy it.

Stop blaming people who made the right choices and start taking responsibilty for your own actions, we owe the CRM, we owe those who came before us and gave us the choices most of us now throw away.

You talk about Oprah v. rappers, how many of those same rappers speak about education in their music or give back to build independent schools in their former neighborhoods, or donate books to libraries in their community. I dont need a song about “shaking ass” in my community I need you to assist these children were our school systems have failed them. I need you to talk to them before it becomes apart of your community service requirement (T.I) or because its a tax write off or your PR agent told you it would make you look good. I need you to become outspoken and not when your album is about to drop (Nas) .

What busineses do you speak of, clothing lines, they are not independant artist, most own the record company yes, but are they not diversifying so they can run aginst and shut down the Sony’s, Aristas, Columbia, etc. They are not in distribution and that is where the money and decisions really are, these are still own by the majority who do not look like me and you. You can put out as many records as you want but if you do not own the distribution company that means absolutely nothing. Saying you have a label means what nowadays, when you start controlling what goes out, who hears what-basically controlling the market (Virgin) then you are in control.

And what is put out there is garbage and I am supposed to be happy because you employ a few people and look like me. Are you serious, when they become Magic Johnson then I will say your right but not until they stop hurting us to make themselves richer.

Like Lupa says, what is easier to do dumb it down (shake ass, sex it up, drug it out, drink it up) or speak up about how we don’t control the industries, to boost our self esteem to make us want more out of life, we have help to create the wealth within our own communities with degrading ourselves to do it.

You cannot blame black Hollywood, when they put out positive movies about us (Spkie Lee thank you) we don’t go, we instead go to gansta movies about b.s. because for some reason some of us are stupid enough to believe that is our role in america to be pimps, hos, prostitues, druggies, ass shakers etc. We would rather see movies called “Hustle & Flow” then watch the “Great Debaters” or “Talk to Me” Whose fault is that—? And Oprah produced the Great Debaters , she bought and now owns her own network and is working to put out more movies and shows about us that you and the rest of young black america will not go see because no one is getting shot up.

BET survives because you watch the network that promotes black degradation. And it was before Viacom bought that mess that we were helping to “keep it real”, with no orginal shows, no substance, just ass shaking wack videos about nothing, helping us to dream about nothing, have nothing, stay watching as the artist move into their exclusive neighborhoods and do nothing for those places they say they are promoting through the wack videos.

Lets do a survey and the top 100 rap songs in the last year and see what those songs are really talking about (ass shaking, clinking bottles, cars, women, hos, strippers). Okay yeah that is what my children should be filling their heads with instead of reading and writing about who they are and becoming spiritually and emotionally stronger human beings.

Black people have survived a lot, history is a powerful thing so before you go talking about Obama, Oprah and all the rest of us who made the right choice think what is your role, how do you serve the community, stop giving those who are hurting us the black pass (negative hop hop) and lets start to challenge ourselves to do better. We have no other choice. America is not changing (we will not become the majority even with a man who looks like us in the white house next year) all we can do is learn to build our own, make strides in our community to give back (and not just during the holidays, because its a tax write off, or terms of our conviction or bail) and become a mentor, adopt a child in our community, listen to the words of songs and not just the beats and start to choose artist who build you up and strive to be the best you can be.
