…I live in Chicago and know where this small azz town of Lynwood is. They are tripping. The pictures above are a perfect example of what is going to happen because of this law. The officer had to actually pull the young man shirt up in order to see his pants.

As for the sagging pants law,I think it is a fade that the young children are going through. I remembered when I was young (14 years old) TLC used to have the big baggy pants, and my friends and I had the baggy Guess pants,too. Now most of us are doctors, teachers, nurses, lawyers, engineers, accountants,and etc.
What the mayor and city councils need to do is to provide classes to teach our black boys(those who they are targeting) how to dress for success,how to communicate,and how to fill out applications for jobs and colleges. To sum it up, how to be successful!!! Then rappers like TI, JayZ, Nas, and the rest of them who the kids look up to need to explain to them that what they are rapping about is fictious. Then they need to provide workshops in big cities to show these young boys how to be men. Most of them do not have a father in the home, and that is all they know. I would rather for them to be learn howing to be a man and take own responsibilities instead of being in jail or fine for a ridiculous law. Our race is already declining, and we need our young black boys to be productive citizen instead of lock up in jail for ten years.

The sagging pants law is a racially motivated attack on personal freedom. The fact that many people hate the look of sagging pants (myself included) is irrelevant. The point is that if they’ll do this, where will it end? Today it’s sagging pants, tomorrow it will be wearing dreadlocks, wearing earrings that are too big, bright colors, etc. This is just another excuse to harass and imprison black men.

The government, whether local or federal, has NO RIGHT to dictate how people dress unless they are coming outside naked and violating public decency laws. Don’t let your personal opinion on sagging pants blind you to what’s going on here: We are quickly headed in the direction of a police state.

I have to agree racial profiling isn’t something new and this isn’t new to find a reason to put young black men in jail but we have to accept responsibility as well everything is not the white man’s fault. We need to create better standards for our young men. As a parent I would never allow my child to go out of the house with saggy pants or backwards hat. So this isn’t a fashion statement it’s a slave prison mentality… pants sagging around your waist makes you walk like you are in shackles or have you not thought of that while you call it a fashion statement… again I call it gay prison mentality any which way I think about it when I see a boy with saggy pants walking like a duck and holding his pants up with his hand instead of a belt…

Creating higher standards for young black men ( which I certainly agree with) has nothing to do with this issue. Again, you can’t let your personal feelings cloud the issue. The point is that an outside person can determine what THEY feel is appropriate for you to wear and choose to jail and/or fine you based on that. That person or organization is making a choice for everyone based on their own personal biases and prejudices. Day by day we are losing our freedoms. I support the ACLU 100% on this one.

while i dont agree with the style of sagging pants, i feel it is ridiculous to harass and/ or charge someone for wearing their pants in a particular way. not only does the style make us look bad as people-like it or not, you represent your race when you go out (and i do realize that is ONLY if you are black), it is sloppy and does not do anything in a positive manner for the people who wear it and that is regardless of color.

on the other side, i think it is an excuse-or will be-for police to continue to profile and confront innocent men and boys on the street. there are other things the tax payer dollars could go toward, like creating community programs for the youth that actually make a difference. then again, being proactive would be smart and we are much better at being reactive here.
