US Senator and Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is currently touring the Middle East & Europe on a fact-finding and relationship-building mission.
He is pictured at the top during an aerial tour of Baghdad on Tuesday afternoon. He also met with Israeli President Shimon Peres (left) at the president’s office in Jerusalem on Wednesday; and was also welcomed by Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas in the West Bank city of Ramallah.
After various stops in the Middle East, Obama will continue the tour by visiting Germany, Britain and France.
MCCAIN MOCKS MEDIA’S LOVE FOR OBAMA
In a new video released on Tuesday, Republican presidential candidate John McCain makes fun of the media’s adoration of his Democratic counterpart, Barack Obama.
The coverage seems to be too much for McCain who seems a bit jealous of all the attention he isn’t receiving and accused the media of being “in love” with Obama. In an email unveiling the video, the campaign said, “It’s pretty obvious that the media has a bizarre fascination with Barack Obama. Some may even say it’s a love affair. The media is in love with Barack Obama. If it wasn’t so serious, it would be funny.”
MCCAIN CARICATURE ON VANITY FAIR
Following the controversy surrounding last week’s New Yorker cover, Vanity Fair scratched the presidential campaign cover it planned, according to a recent blog post.
We had our own presidential campaign cover in the works, which explored a different facet of the Politics of Fear, but we shelved it when The New Yorker’s became the “It Girl” of the blogosphere.
Now, however, in a selfless act of solidarity with our downstairs neighbors here at the Condé Nast building, we’d like to share it with you. Confidentially, of course.
The cover features McCain holding a walker with one hand and giving a fist bump to a pill-holding Cindy McCain. A painting of George W. Bush hangs on the wall while the Constitution burns in the fireplace.
I don’t think this one even compares to Obama’s cover as this one is actually based on facts.

I have noticed that the entire McCain campaign has been one big Gaff. Look I think McCain served this country and demands the up most respect. He is probably even a patriot. But it is a cold fact of life when you get older you dull intellectually. I think McCain just isnt as sharp as a president needs to be. I completely agree that this one is based on facts (Vanity Fair cover). I mean.. his wife WAS a drug addict… he IS an old man… they are trying to completely overrule the constiution= all true facts that can be backed up. However, Obama’s terrorist portrayal with Osama Bin Laden hanging up was not in any way factual, it was outright wrong of them. That implication was completely uncalled for and offensive. So no.. its still not equal.

i agree that the mccain cover doesn’t compare to the obama cover because the mccain cover includes factual “satire” – he is old, his wife was reportedly addicted to drugs at some point in her life, and mccain loves (did i say loves) bush – even though he is trying to distance himself now. the obama cover was based on the magazine’s perception of who it wants the obamas to be.

It’s interesting how Obama isn’t being anything other than himself and how people are drawn to him and picking up on his sincerity. I believe that is why people are so enthralled with him and what he says. They really feel like this person is truly speaking from his heart in what he would like to do and change in order for this country to be better as well as our international relationships. Those that are in it for themselves, special interest, and the super rich cannot nor will not ever understand or connect to someone like Obama. Not to ever to put him up with Jesus Christ, the Son of God, but they hated Jesus too and what he stood for. The pharisees felt that he was taking away their power and prestige also Christ pointed out where they had faults and sins even though they thought they were Holy and how they opressed those they felt were beneth them and so they felt threatened and wanted him removed so that it could be back to status quo again. It is almost the same, in terms of those that feel they’re power and prestige is truly threatened especially in being white men and supposedly the far superior race and by no means do they want a black president to succeed and put this country on the right track. They would rather see the United States utterly destroyed than to have to give a Black man credit. A lot of it isn’t about color but at the same time it still very much is!

That means you can say “buh-bye” to things like affirmative action, which some states have already gotten rid of.
