POLITICS: OBAMA STEADY CAMPAIGNING / OBAMA DENOUNCES LUDA’S LYRICS / MCCAIN COMPARES OBAMA TO BRITNEY SPEARS

Democratic presidential candidate, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., walks to greet two supporters holding a banner that says “Rednecks for Obama” at a campaign stop in Union, Missouri, Wednesday, July 30.

OBAMA DENOUNCES LUDA’S LYRICS

Ludacris, a strong supporter of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, has released a new song titled “Politics: Obama Is Here”.

However, Obama, who once said he had Ludacris in heavy rotation on his iPod, is not too happy with him. The song praises Obama, but bitterly attacks Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and John McCain. “Hillary hated on you, so that bitch is irrelevant,” say the lyrics. “McCain don’t belong in any chair unless he’s paralyzed.” Luda calls on voters to “paint the White House black” and adds that “Bush is mentally handicapped.”

The Obama campaign issued the following statement:

“As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn’t want his daughters or any children exposed to. This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics.”

MCCAIN COMPARES OBAMA TO BRITNEY SPEARS

McCain’s presidential campaign on Wednesday released a television ad comparing Obama to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, suggesting the Democratic contender is little more than a vapid but widely recognized media concoction.

Obama’s campaign quickly responded with a commercial of its own, showing images of the Arizona senator with President George W. Bush and accusing the 71-year-old McCain of practicing “the politics of the past.”

McCain’s ad, titled “Celeb” and set to air in 11 battleground states, inter cuts images of Obama on his trip abroad last week with video of twenty-something pop stars Spears and Hilton _ both better known for their childish off-screen antics.

“He’s the biggest celebrity in the world, but is he ready to lead?” the voiceover asks, noting the Illinois senator’s opposition to offshore oil drilling and suggesting he would raise taxes if elected.

While campaigning in Missouri (photo above), Obama said the ad was the latest example of McCain’s negativity, a theme his campaign has tried to stress lately.

“He doesn’t seem to have anything positive to say about me, does he?” Obama said. “You need to ask John McCain what he’s for, not just what he’s against.”

i hope barack doesn’t fall for the okey doke; like congressman harold ford jr. they hammered his campaign continuously w/ race baiting and lies where it took a toll on mr. ford and he went showing up at his challengers campaign event calling him out. which made him look bad. also white folks are not going to have any sympathy for barack there just sitting back waiting for them attack ads to work and waiting for barack to crack. to a majority of people, any man of color who speaks w/ authority and can articulate w/o skin’n and grin’n like step and fectch-it is labeled as arrogant which is a crock. this lastest attack is just old mind games politics from the school of lee atwater and the reagan era. i knew that mccain couldn’t wait to try and use the line reagan used “there he goes again”. and what makes it so bad these type of people win elections. so ignore these wanna be reagan clones who constantly reach back w/ their neg campaign attacks and keep your eyes on the prize. let them copy-cats of the past fall in their own trap.

  2. I like Ludacris but he is an IDIOT for that. You have to watch what you say these days, dealing with politicians cause his whole song could be taking out of context. Very disappointed in Luda

1 the only reason you never hear anything good or what McCain stands for is because the Media has Obama fever. Can anyone point out a post on concreteloop stating any stance for McCain. Read up on his policy and you might be surprised at how one-sided some media really is.

two: If Obama has a problem with what luda said the he must like NaZ, Jay-Z, Betounce’, Richard Pryor, Ti, diddy, pretty much everyone that is supporting him. I hate when people pick and chose their evils. Either it’s just music, or it effects our youth and the image of women. Yea a real change Mr Obama really

  4. Take That

Kuddos to Obama for denouncing Luda’s song. While I love Luda, calling Hilary a bitch is NOT the business. He could’ve done so much more than to downgrade this woman. Upliftment people!

Also kuddos, to Obama for his witty comeback to the McCain campaign. Dust the haters off, sir!

  5. Morning Fresh

N1———What is it with Luda and degrading women is he gay???
————–He never has anything decent to say about women!!!
————–Entertainers should stay out of politics, especially hip hop artist/rappers!!!!
————–He’s cooning and buffooning for the Republicans. Way to go Luda!!!! geez!

  6. II’m so dissapointed in Ludacris right now.

It seems blacks are hurting Obama more than any other race *shakes head*

  7. galz

now you all know obama has to be politically correct. he can not agree on any bashing of the white folk. so he has to denouce the lyrics if he wants to stay in good favor with the white folk. obama will be denouncing alot of things if he wants to become the prez. the rev made some comments and obama had to be politically correct and leave that man’s church. obama is being judged on the black people whom he shakes hands with. you know how white folk are, if one black man is guilty so is his friends and fam.

  8. jeff

now all of sudden we all have to be careful what we say?? oh please all of you need to cut the bullshit. now we all hate luda?? come on people. we were loving him before now he is not politically correct. oh please you all need to get the hell outta here with all this self righteous crap. luda been talking shit for years. he had it out with o’reilly. no one said anything bad about luda then and why is that?? just like all of a sudden bernie mac’s humor is all a bit too much?? come on stop all this shit. “oh naw i done offended the white folk” like they have not been offending blacks for years and are still doing it. fake ass people. too bad our vote does not elect the president. that’ right people the popular vote, which is our vote will not elect obama. look it up you will all be disappointed.

  9. algie

luda tells it like it is.the truth hurts sometimes

  10. SSSHAMAR FORM M-TOWN

most of ludas raps are like that he says off the wall shit he wrong just in timing not what he said black people dont realize that we need to wait we riding on the white folks way to soon because it doesnt matter who is heading to the white house later rt now they still have the power so black folks just wait till we get the man in there before we start ridin i know yall ready but if we keep goin on the path of embarassing obama they will snatch it away from from us just like they did al gore so be easy my brothers and sisters

  11. ThinkAboutIt

Obama will have to learn that he cannot be accountable for everything that everyone says “supposedly” in support of him. It’s a trap bag, that he needs to stay away from.

And as for all of these Obama “supporters”… . Just hush – and show your support with a vote.

  12. ThatBkChick

Did anyone bother reporting that the so called American government apologized yesterday for Slavery to Black America? This is the reason why must turn off the got damn t.v.’s and stopped listening/boycott major television networks…..this was supposed to be a significant time for our people, which has been over clouted by biased racist media attempts to consort Obama as an “uptty negro”, thanks to Jessie Jackson, and people like Luda, (who honestly need to sit his azz down, why isn’t anyone writing something positive in the rap game about aspiring to be someone like Barrack, thus, “their son’s” have a chance and being something great other than chasing “hoes”, cars and diamonds/rocks?

We all need to stop watching main stream media and news. I only watched “Black in America”, because of Soledad O’Brian’s brilliant efforts, thus, I had started getting a soft spot again for CNN, until the last Sunday airing of “Black in America”, CNN again was on the Right Wing Nut Sack of criticizing Obama again, for being to “Presumptive”,”too arrogant”…..at a time when everything in this media is solely driven on Right Wing/Old Clinton “Gotcha” sound byte/racist tactics, I’ve resorted to listening to talk radio….AIR AMERICA (.COM), Jones Radio Network and Randi Rhodes show on the Nova M radio network(Usually these are found on your AM dial),Huffingtonpost.com, BBC World News, NPR,Bill Mahr( HBO) Jonathan Stewart and oh….Keith Oberman (is the only one I watch on cable/t.v.)…..The rest of the media is sold and brought by the Right Wing machine. Until the Fairness Doctrine is actually repealed, and 90% of the media is broken down to reflect more progressive media reporting, I am not going to buy into the media hype anymore!!!!

We honestly need to start boycotting the media/CNN/ WHAT THE FAUX (FOX) NEWS NETWORKS/MSNBC and NY Times, and other journalism forms of media, until we can get part of “Fairness” in the Fairness Doctrine restored!!!

Please my people, check out the other media sources and then turn off the idiot boxes until the elections are over!!!!

  13. The Misses

I AM NO LONGER A LUDACRIS FAN. He is way out of line. There was no need for him to say those things. And people need start realizing that they shouldn’t just vote for Obama because he is black. First off he is mixed, second what about his qualifications. I am definately against McCain. Hilary was my vote. Ya’ll know damn well she ran this country when Billl was in office. Turn the White House into the Black House?!?!? He couldn’t come up with anything better than that? He should have pointed out the qualities about Obama instead of just pointing out that he is black. Very tacky. Luda, you should be ashamed!

  14. kayser9soze

Well considering most of us who voted for Obama hype 2008 have recited controversial lyrics at one time or another aren’t we hypocrites to criticize luda for spitting what his heart told him to spit? Shame on Obama for going out of his way to denounce lyrics…shouldn’t you be more worried about how to get us back from the brink of no longer being a super power instead? I mean come on folks we are all grown here..yeah it’s luda putting his foot in his mouth but can you blame the man…can you seriously say that at one point in your life you didn’t get so angry at the world that you said something you otherwise wouldn’t? I know…I know…we have to be peachy and happy all the time..well that’s not the world some people live in. It’s about damn time someone had the gall to spit something genuine that they feel..when was the last time an artist took a stance for what he really believed in? I guess we want more videos for obama singing and praising him instead..well the truth is the world as we know still is at war…your gas price still isn’t going down…people are still defaulting on mortgages…we are in the early stages of a recession and this is what makes news. I like hillary as a candidate, i like obama as a candidate, mc cain can go sit somewhere…but the truth of the matter is neither is going to put much change in your pocket. So while we congratulate Obama on his success the truth is tomorrow there is still a war and a bad economy. We will go through Obama for perhaps four to eight years, and another president for another four to eight years before we get back to where we were eight years ago and making progress.

NICE! My friend recommended me a very interesting place ☆☆☆”NYwealthyMatch . c o m”"”"”"”"☆☆☆ If you’ve ever been there you will know what I mean….

  16. ThinkAboutIt

Luda needed to follow the lead of Big Boi and MJBlige, “something’s gotta give”, and subtle but strong message of support.

  17. VIOLA1

I swear some ppl just dont know when to shut the hell up, theres nothing wrong with expressing the fact that you are a Obama supporter, but damn this is taking it a little too far, hell if he wants to be supportive, pass out some flyers, go knocking door to door in some poverty stricken areas in ATL and make sure these ppl are registered to vote before the deadline, hell donate some time and money to the campaign, dont write some ignorant ass rap talking about painting the damn White House Black, you make certain ppl scared (white ppl), he’s doing more harm that help. (still a Luda fan, just learn when to shut the hell up, and I bet Oprah is somewhere sitting back talking about “see Steadman I told you about him, that why I had to edit all his comments on my show”)

  18. Have Not Thought of a New User Name

I don’t even want to listen to the song because I love Luda and I want to remain loving him. I wish people would think before they speak (even if some of us do agree) this is not going to help Obama, they are going to use any and everything against him regardless if it is right or wrong.

John McCain is spending way to much time talking about Barack don’t be mad because you and your party are not popular.

  19. fiffj1234

@#5, totally agree. I really like how Obama chastised him to let him know that blacks can do better than that in our music. The more people reject such speech the more it will change. I just love how Obama will shut you down if you ain’t right like with Vernon Jones ( too, too, funny, still laughing), Bernie Mac, and now Luda. Obama is a smart, strong man, he’s getting it from all angles and he’s on it.

  20. BRIANA

i like that ludaris is supporting obama…and his intent was good-hearted, but everyone needs to sit down and be quiet. let the man (obama) speak for himself and do what he needs to do to win. we finally get someone that has a voice of his own and does an excellent job of expressing himself on his own, and now everybody wants to speak for him in “support”….disaster

  21. STEFANI

OBAMA BDAY IS MONDAY AUG 4TH SO IS MY MOMMYS!!!!

  22. Kellz

Wow… WTF was Luda thinking? I hate how you can be smart enough to follow or support politics but still act a fool and those lyrics are downright foolish. Also McCain’s new ad is a joke. I saw it today while watching the news and laughed! Obama doesn’t support offshore drilling because he’s SMART enough to realize the potential (and much needed) in alternative fuels. If Venezuela can do it, why the hell not us? Oh yea I forgot… Bush. McCain is a jackass and should worry about reading books instead of being fed bullshit by his mentor and groupies.

  23. Shelby

Luda deserves to get smacked….seriously after the primaries and the issue of sexism against Hillary and I am sure that he was aware of that….to call her a b+++h is of no help……the comment about mccain is rude..though the comment about bush has been proven, look at the problems that our country face after 8 years of him

mccain is getting pathetic…seriously, I am starting to feel sorry for their camp…..oh and his camp is STUPID because on the news they said that paris hilton’s parents have given alot of money to his campaign and they have gotten others to give money….if I was them I would ask for my money back, no joke

  24. Ebony

obama is goin to beat mccain. when he was competing against clinton, she tried her best to damage his character with her commercials and what nots. now mccain is trying to use the same strategy.

  25. Ashley

COME ON YA’LL DO YA’LL REALLY THINK THAT OBAMA IS MAD AT LUDACRIS NO HE WAS PROBABLY LAUGHING THE WHOLE TIME HE WAS LISTENING TO THE SONG BUT NOW HE’S TRYING TO SAY THAT LUDA SHOULD BE ASHAME OF HIMSELF YEAH RIGHT OBAMA LOL YOU KNOW THE WHOLE TIME THE SONG WAS PLAYING I BET HE WAS JUST LAUGHING YOU KNOW THAT OBAMA IS RUNING FOR PRESIDENT SO HE GOT TO MAKE IT SEEM LIKE HE’S TRYING TO BE NICE SO YOU ALREADY KNOW HE’S GOING TO SAY LUDA SHOULD BE ASHAME BUT DO HE MEAN IT NO OBAMA PROBABLY GOT THAT SONG IN HIS IPOD OR HE PROBABLY RIDE OUT TO THAT SONG LOL BUT ANYWAYS I KNOW OBAMA IS NOT MAD AT LUDA FOR RELEASING THAT SONG BECAUSE I’M SURE OBAMA KNEW FROM THE GICK GO ABOUT THE SONG AND WHY IS OBAMA AND LUDA TAKING PICS TOGETHER IF OBAMA WAS SO NOT SATISFIED WITH THE SONG HE WOULDN ‘T BE TAKING PICS WITH LUDA SO I BELIEVE OBAMA LIKE THE SONG BUT YOU KNOW HE’S NOT FINNNA GET ON T.V. AND SAY I LOVE THAT SONG LUDA SAID THIS ABOUT THIS AND THAT THEN PEOPLE IS GOING TO BE QUESTIONING HIM SHOULD HE BE PRESIDENT SO YOU ALREADY KNOW HE DON’T CARE ABOUT THE SONG BECAUSE LUDA IS SUPPORTING HIM

LOVE LUDA’S CAMPAIGN SONG/RAP TOO BAD HILARY!!!!

  28. PROVOST...

I think a lot of people missed the Obama camp’s point in addressing Luda’s lyrics: they’re the type of lyrics Barack would hate to hear if he WEREN’T running for President. Beauty Q. T. says it’s “just another way to suppress black people.” Well, if you’re talking about Mr. Bridges’s words, then yes, you’re absolutely right.
