POLITICS: OBAMA STEADY CAMPAIGNING / OBAMA DENOUNCES LUDA’S LYRICS / MCCAIN COMPARES OBAMA TO BRITNEY SPEARS

Democratic presidential candidate, Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., walks to greet two supporters holding a banner that says “Rednecks for Obama” at a campaign stop in Union, Missouri, Wednesday, July 30.

OBAMA DENOUNCES LUDA’S LYRICS

Ludacris, a strong supporter of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, has released a new song titled “Politics: Obama Is Here”.

However, Obama, who once said he had Ludacris in heavy rotation on his iPod, is not too happy with him. The song praises Obama, but bitterly attacks Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and John McCain. “Hillary hated on you, so that bitch is irrelevant,” say the lyrics. “McCain don’t belong in any chair unless he’s paralyzed.” Luda calls on voters to “paint the White House black” and adds that “Bush is mentally handicapped.”

The Obama campaign issued the following statement:

“As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn’t want his daughters or any children exposed to. This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics.”

MCCAIN COMPARES OBAMA TO BRITNEY SPEARS

McCain’s presidential campaign on Wednesday released a television ad comparing Obama to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, suggesting the Democratic contender is little more than a vapid but widely recognized media concoction.

Obama’s campaign quickly responded with a commercial of its own, showing images of the Arizona senator with President George W. Bush and accusing the 71-year-old McCain of practicing “the politics of the past.”

McCain’s ad, titled “Celeb” and set to air in 11 battleground states, inter cuts images of Obama on his trip abroad last week with video of twenty-something pop stars Spears and Hilton _ both better known for their childish off-screen antics.

“He’s the biggest celebrity in the world, but is he ready to lead?” the voiceover asks, noting the Illinois senator’s opposition to offshore oil drilling and suggesting he would raise taxes if elected.

While campaigning in Missouri (photo above), Obama said the ad was the latest example of McCain’s negativity, a theme his campaign has tried to stress lately.

“He doesn’t seem to have anything positive to say about me, does he?” Obama said. “You need to ask John McCain what he’s for, not just what he’s against.”

Luda needed to follow the lead of Big Boi and MJBlige, “something’s gotta give”, and subtle but strong message of support.

I swear some ppl just dont know when to shut the hell up, theres nothing wrong with expressing the fact that you are a Obama supporter, but damn this is taking it a little too far, hell if he wants to be supportive, pass out some flyers, go knocking door to door in some poverty stricken areas in ATL and make sure these ppl are registered to vote before the deadline, hell donate some time and money to the campaign, dont write some ignorant ass rap talking about painting the damn White House Black, you make certain ppl scared (white ppl), he’s doing more harm that help. (still a Luda fan, just learn when to shut the hell up, and I bet Oprah is somewhere sitting back talking about “see Steadman I told you about him, that why I had to edit all his comments on my show”)

I don’t even want to listen to the song because I love Luda and I want to remain loving him. I wish people would think before they speak (even if some of us do agree) this is not going to help Obama, they are going to use any and everything against him regardless if it is right or wrong.

John McCain is spending way to much time talking about Barack don’t be mad because you and your party are not popular.

@#5, totally agree. I really like how Obama chastised him to let him know that blacks can do better than that in our music. The more people reject such speech the more it will change. I just love how Obama will shut you down if you ain’t right like with Vernon Jones ( too, too, funny, still laughing), Bernie Mac, and now Luda. Obama is a smart, strong man, he’s getting it from all angles and he’s on it.

i like that ludaris is supporting obama…and his intent was good-hearted, but everyone needs to sit down and be quiet. let the man (obama) speak for himself and do what he needs to do to win. we finally get someone that has a voice of his own and does an excellent job of expressing himself on his own, and now everybody wants to speak for him in “support”….disaster

Wow… WTF was Luda thinking? I hate how you can be smart enough to follow or support politics but still act a fool and those lyrics are downright foolish. Also McCain’s new ad is a joke. I saw it today while watching the news and laughed! Obama doesn’t support offshore drilling because he’s SMART enough to realize the potential (and much needed) in alternative fuels. If Venezuela can do it, why the hell not us? Oh yea I forgot… Bush. McCain is a jackass and should worry about reading books instead of being fed bullshit by his mentor and groupies.

Luda deserves to get smacked….seriously after the primaries and the issue of sexism against Hillary and I am sure that he was aware of that….to call her a b+++h is of no help……the comment about mccain is rude..though the comment about bush has been proven, look at the problems that our country face after 8 years of him

mccain is getting pathetic…seriously, I am starting to feel sorry for their camp…..oh and his camp is STUPID because on the news they said that paris hilton’s parents have given alot of money to his campaign and they have gotten others to give money….if I was them I would ask for my money back, no joke

I think a lot of people missed the Obama camp’s point in addressing Luda’s lyrics: they’re the type of lyrics Barack would hate to hear if he WEREN’T running for President. Beauty Q. T. says it’s “just another way to suppress black people.” Well, if you’re talking about Mr. Bridges’s words, then yes, you’re absolutely right.
