I still dont think she is prettier than Beyonce. It has nothing to do with weaves, complexion anything. I simply think Beyonce’s face is prettier and this is from someone who looks closer to Ashanti. My shape is closer to hers, I also have a caramel complexion and roundish face but still I find Beyonce just a little more striking looking than Ashanti. I dont think Ashanti has “spanish” in her. I remember reading an article where she said because of that foolish video and the acting part of it where gotti said “They dont like blacks” or something like that, people asked her at signings if she had latin in her and her response was “Im just black”. Im sure she has something in her from far back as most of us do but that is way different than being half. She is a black girl. I sometimes think its just more popular to say the word “mixed” so therefore when you see a beautiful black chick, you are trying really hard to find something else in them to say what they look mixed with because its hard even for black folks to give credit to black folks for being beautiful on our own, without anything mixed in us.

But back to the subject. I loved her when she first came out but I was just into the way she dressed and her persona. Now that im 27, she is no longer relevent to me except I think she looks good and dresses cute and I like to see her with Nelly. I dont think everyone has to have a Mariah Carey voice so I do think she can sing decent but its just her songs are all boring to me. She’s not the only one. It’s hard to listen to any r&b thats out now. I really dont understand how people can listen to anything 70’s thru the 90’s and actually be satisfied with most of the stuff today.

Well Beyonce is striking to a lot of people because so many black women who do look like Ashanti are always being sold the idea by the media that lighter is better, and that lighter, with blonde hair is the end all be all. Your statement above says it all. You look more like Ashanti but believe that Bey looks better than both of you. That’s pretty sad. That’s America’s idea of beauty. Anything closet to white with narrow features, whether or not they have been augmented by plastic surgery or no LOL People worship that which they feel they can never achieve..Beyonce has sold yall an idea of what american culture heralds as being beautiful and most of her stans worship that image. Truthfuflly, that’s the only reason Jayz calls her the hottest chick in the game. She is light, bright and almost white. even though the image is fake, the hair comes off at night and whether she calls herself black or creole, she is just plain black in the eyes of America. There will always be another standard of beauty to reach. Even though Jay feels he has the hottest chick in the game, Reggie Bush feels like he has a hotter one, he thinks he has one-upped Jay because his chick isn’t ALMOST white. She actually is and she has a fatter ass. Go figure. Negroes need to recognize black women like Ashanti are the epitome of black beauty whether you see women who look like her in every city or not. She is GORGEOUS.
Beyonce is attractive too, but looks less attractive than Ashanti without all the extra. She is selling her image hard, and eventually, she’s not going to be able to pull it off as easily because the expectations of her are going to be higher and higher. Age will catch up to her and the Kim K’s, Rhianna with the natural green eyes, and so on and so on will eventually surpass her. Ashanti will still be here looking like the gorgeous black queen that she is and she won’t have that pressure to look like the light bright and ALMOST (remember almost doesn’t count in the words of Brandy) White.

#144, I don’t think Beyonce’s look is intimidating at all. Most people have seen her without her makeup and hair by now, and they can see that its all smoke and mirrors. Yes she’s cute but she is not the image we see when she is onstage. None of these women look like the image they sell. Ashanti is very beautiful, and so is Tierra Marie, but Rihanna will always trump Tierra because of the light eyes. People. I agree with the above post. People are obsessed with certain looks and features. Why do you think Bey stans hate Ri-Ri so much? They are threatened by her. Hate to see her anywhere near Jay. Same thing, threatened because she is light skin, tall like a model and is stunning. So the same argument applies.

Just as you say people are threatened by Beyonce Knowles-Carter so that’s why they like Ashanti, well the beyonce stans are threatened by Ms. Ri-Ri because they think she could take Jayz. He has talked about the light skin chicks with the wavvy hair. He loved some Chuck-B too and Rihanna has tha look he likes. Ashanti has the look that every dude in the hood would be checkin for if they could see her in real life situations. Beyonce is not more attractive than Ashanti, its just that her image is pimped to death and people love that. Looking like she was in the club next to jigga, most dudes wouldn’t look twice at her.

Truthistruth, I actually agree with your statement for the most part but except when your reffering to me. You assume I think Beyonce is a LITTLE more striking than Ashanti simply because of her blond weave and because she’s like a shade lighter? No not at all! First of all I do not even think Beyonce has “White features” if she was a little darker, no one would say that. Her nose and lips aren’t even smaller than Ashanti’s and I for one HATE blond hair even on white people and think its so played out on Beyonce. I like her with medium brown hair the most like when she was promoting dream girls. I think Beyonce is beautiful but not strictly based off of skin color. I find Gabrielle Union to actually be just as striking as Beyonce and Kenya Moore who is very dark to be better looking than everyone mentioned here and not to mention I think Sanaa Lathan (who is caramel and darker than Be) is the epitome of beauty.

However just because Beyonce is light and has a blond weave does not mean I have to automatically say she’s not as pretty just based on what society thinks of as beautiful. She is just simply a beautiful woman, light, brown, dark whatever, she has a very pretty face PERIOD! I never said Ashanti wasnt beautiful. I said absolutely gorgeous. I said just not as striking as Beyonce and just because im her skin complexion and look more similar to her (never said I was her twin), im not gonna say she is the most beautiful woman in the world or that somehow me saying Beyonce who looks nothing like me is prettier than her that its somehow putting myself down or saying I think she looks better than me. Its hard for me to admit any woman looks better as its hard for all of us women to do that. However, I am not comparing myself to Beyonce or Ashanti.

Also just want to add about Rihanna who I also think is stunning. Its funny how all of a sudden that she’s light skin. When she first came out, she was Ashanti’s color and I dont think because she has light eyes that she trumps anyone based off of that. Most blacks have dark eyes and dark eyes can be beautiful as well. Once again me thinking Beyonce is gorgeous has nothing to even do with what society deems as beautiful. She just simply is. If she got the darkest tan and came out with Naomi Campbells color, I would still think she was beautiful. She just has a pretty face, very symmetrical. Symmetrical does not mean small features, it means all your features go together perfectly whether you have small or large features.
