REST IN PEACE DJ K-SWIFT

Monday, July 21, 2008

Sad news out of Baltimore today. Popular DJ Khia “K-Swift” Edgerton died on Monday.

The body of 29-year-old Khia Edgerton, also known as “K-Swift” was found Monday morning at her northeast Baltimore home.

They say K-Swift was giving a pool party at her home earlier in the day. She had been drinking extensively before getting into the pool. Witnesses told police there were several people in the pool when Edgerton jumped in, but none of the swimmers were alarmed when she didn’t immediately resurface. There were also lifeguards present.

After time had passed and she still didn’t surface, they got alarmed and jumped in. They were able to pull her out to the side of the pool. Medics were called but no one at the party attempted CPR while they were waiting. When medics got there, they attempted CPR to no avail. She was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

She broke ground as a female DJ on 92 Q Jams and rose to female mix show coordinator. She is one of the only women in the country to hold the title. Her death is being investigated by Baltimore City police as a suspicious death. [SOURCE]

Concrete Loop sends our condolences to her family and friends.

From what I understand she hit her head on the diving board so if she was bleeding from the head no one would think to do cpr for that…let’s get the whole story people before we start condeming people…

RIP K-Swift.

There was no diving board on the pool, but it was no more than 5 feet deep. She probably miscalculated her dive and hit her head and broker her neck.

I took a CPR class years ago, but if I were one of the partygoers, I would have also been afraid to attempt it because of the possibility of doing more harm than good in light of the head injury and possible neck injury. It was just her time to go.

My condolences to her family & friends.

This is a quite shocking story and confusing. If there were lifeguards–real certified lifeguards present–then when she was pulled out of the water by them, the first thing would of been to check for a pulse and breathing, if nothing to give 1 short breath, then if still nothing, then perform CPR—why wouldn’t a trained and licensed lifeguard not do that? And they should of had a AED as well. Smells suspicious to me too.

First things first, my condolences to her family. K-Swift IS being missed every minute by so many people not just here in Baltimore but far and wide. This woman was TALENT personified. She is respected because of that and her attention to troubled youth.

Loved all her mixes, especially enjoyed listening in on the holidays when she let loose, brought back all the club jams that made EVERYBODY dance! 92Q is jamming one of her mixes now…will sorely miss K-Swift.

Please people, forget or at least put the tasteless comments on hold…a life has been lost.

@Henry- No shame in your game, huh? Loser.

First things first, my condolences to her family. Her mom was so strong at the vigil last night, giving comfort when she should have been the recipient.

K-Swift was TALENT personified and was respected because of that…she earned every bit of it. She is being missed more and more by the minute, not just by Baltimoreans but by people near and far. What a loss. Truly unfortunate.

I feel like most of you, lifeguards are supposed to GUARD LIVES. What happened?

On another note, People please, forget or atleast put the tasteless comments on hold, a life has been loss.

Looking at the picture of the pool, I guess could explain how no one would notice. It looks high, and if the people werent standing up on that platform that maybe, maybe could be a reason.

But I still dont understand why pulling her out was all they did, I mean I just dont understand. I know we werent there, and all. But I really need to know.

Because its not clicking for me, this is, omg its just so heartbreaking.

Okay, I’m from B-more and I really would like to send out my love to her family as well as pray for those that were there just looking at her and not performing CPR. The 911 call was not of a frantic nature the person sound as if they were calling for a pizza delivery. If alcohol didn’t play a role in her death it played a role in the stupid people she considered friends.
