With Usher’s album doing the electric slide down the charts (no, I’m kidding), I’m glad he’s getting himself out there and getting on some tracks. What I’m really glad to see is that Usher’s brother, James Lackey, who has a publishing deal with EMI, is still getting placements since Lloyd’s “Get It, Shawty!” I actually dig this song, and I think it could have been an interesting addition to Usher’s album, without Nelly, of course. Honestly, Nelly is my least favorite part of the song.

Check out Raven’s new single, “Love Me or Leave Me,” from her latest album. I actually gave Raven’s album, and it really wasn’t the Disney-inspired album that I thought it would be. Raven really did her thing on this new project. And even though I can’t say that it was something that I would listen to a constant basis, I definitely respect what she did. “Love Me or Leave Me” is produced by Oak of the Knightwritaz. It’s a pretty cool song.

I think that out of all the males in the R&B game, I respect Tank the most. Vocally, he is great, and he is an amazing songwriter and producer. He’s been responsible for a lot of great songs on other people’s albums that you just wouldn’t guess. I’m hoping that “Poppin’” is new material, but it feels like some leftover music from Sex, Love & Pain, Tank’s last release, which dropped in 2007. We’ll see though.
♫ i15 – Beatin’ Like A Drum (full) – listen
You may remember a while back, we did a post on i15, Polow Da Don’s boy group, on his label, Zone 4, Inc. It’s been a long time coming for these guys, considering they dropped their first single, “Lost In Love,” which was not a bad song at all, sometime last year. “Beatin’ Like A Drum” is a cool track for the guys. I just hope they can get their album out sometime soon. I dig Tricky’s production on this song, though.

Gotta given it to Raven she surprised me. That`s a good track with a nice flow; her vocals aren`t bad either. She definitely stepped outside the box on this one and it was a good step.
The Tank so has his natural smoothness and it`s also a good track.

Nelly & Usher collabo—thumbs down. The beat is hot, but I’m not impressed by the lyrics or delivery of Nelly and Usher. They sound like they’re having a yelling competition.
Raven Symone- for some reason I could picture this song being on Brandy’s Full Moon album. Raven still sounds like a kid, but the song is ok. She shows potential.
Tank- I’ve loved me some Tank every since “Maybe I deserve”, but what in the elbow grease happened to TGT? Anywho, I love Tank’s voice not the song so much.

I liked i-15 with Lost in Love, now Beatin Like a Drum, I don’t like as much. I prefered the heavy guitars on Lost in Love and i thought that’s what made them unique in the “R&B” world, I guess that’s why others like London on One 2 Many followed suit. But this song…..focus’ on a booty beatin like a drum, cmon.

I like “Beatin’ Like A Drum”. I think the guys of i15 sound great and their voices blend really well together. Unfortunately, it’s somethin’ a little off about their presence as artist. Like, in their video, “Lost In Love” they looked really ‘amateur’, and just a little ackward in general. I think they may need some more artist development but, their music is on point. Raven? Ummm, I liked what I heard on her album for the most part, especially the CLUTCH penned song, “Keep a Friend” which I feel should have been up as a single choice. “Love me or leave me” is okay, yeah..okay. Tank constantly delivers, and I’m definitely feelin’ “Poppin”.
Umm, I just listened to “Long Night”. Nelly sounds so silly. I’m sorry, the ‘yell-singing’ that Nelly he’s been doin’ really needs a rest. He just sounds dumb, on this song at least. Usher, well, he doesn’t sound too bad. I just don’t understand Nelly’s place on the song. That whole energy Nelly brings worked on “Party People”. I really dug that song. But, DEFINITELY NOT on this song.

Raven, I was surprised at how okay her album turned out to be. She sounds better when she sings in a high, sweeter voice. When she trieds to sing low and soulful, she sounds like someone trying to sing. I’m not a fan of her, but I do give her props.
