What do you think everybody is doing to Ashanti? That’s right, their generalizing. Every kind of folk up in here, is generalzing, critisizng, bashing, her look, her music, her presonality, her personal relationship with Nelly. With that being said, you can’t generalize her, simply because of her “entertainment” then turn around and say, don’t generalize me or us as women. How do you think Ashanti feels? Her hate, ridicule, and break down is very public. Which makes it much worse. You guys are in the privacy of your own hme, and can hide behind your computer screens (hint hint). She can’t.
People will find any reason, just to say something negative about that woman. I’m not saying you particularly. I’m just speaking in general. Look at most of the comments on these blogs and websites. Allow me to give some simple examples.
First it was, she can’t sing.
Then it became she’s a hoe just to get a deal (which I don’t see).
After that, it became her laugh and personality is annoying (which it isn’t).
Following that was, she’s wack, she’s Ashitty, and every other disrespectful and disgusting name in the book.
Now, it’s her video is too sexual, her song is too sexual, she’s a hood rat, she set women back a million years with this, Nelly cheats on her, she’s dumb, Good Good ain’t going to keep no man. Her video is trash. Her career is over, she flopped.
Geez, that’s a lot of hate and resentment, and definately generalizing. After that long list I just typed, don’t you think the girl deserves a break? The ironic thing about it is, the next chick can come along and do the same exact thing. But the difference would be, people would gladly embrace her for it. Sing her praises. But continue to single out and take part in tearing down Ashanti, all because she isn’t considered “well-liked” by the “compuster screen bandits.”

The song and video are cute. It reminds me of the Stepford Wife Movie. It was made to be silly. It doesn’t remind of Mariah Carey video. Her cd was overrated and whack to me!! Ashanti’s cd is very good. Take your dislikes about her out of the equation and just listen to hear music. The girl can write better than any female artist out there. If you all can listen to Rihanna’s songs,then dam Ashanti’s voice can not be that annoying. Can’t wait to the video Body on Me. You all definitely going to hate because she and Nelly are in that one. If you don’t like the song or video thats fine but to say negative things about Ashanti is not called for. We can all agree to disagree but don’t knock someone for doing what they love to do just because you’re not feeling it. but if you want to get deep about it you can also say that she just was not talking about sex if you look at the video she is cooking and cleaning and being there for her man when he gets home and thoose are very good qualities in a relationship. So it could be something good for young girls and young guys to see. You can’t dwell so much on the videos but use it to talk and teach.
And I agree fully with Call me Mrs Jones, it is the parents responsibility to teach the child and although every child does not have that that is where the mentors(gmisstata) like you and I (I mentor at my moms school in b-more) come into play.

The video was very well done! It was shot well, super cute and matched the song perfectly. Yes, it is taking on stereotypes of women from the 50′s but it is doing so in a tongue-in-cheek way that is very appealing.

Jason PREACH! I mean seriously it’s JUST a video. And it’s not like Ashanti woke up and said let me degrade women. THE DIRECTOR, who by the way is a FEMALE, came up with the concept and it worked with the song. Lmao Ashanti doesn’t even do anything sleezy or revealing in the video so wth? PLEASE let this BE ANY other female and the shit would of gotten praised. Lil Wayne has a video with HALF NAKED ass girls in “Lollipop”. The song/video went straight to #1 on 106 & Park, TRL and went straight to the top of the billboard charts. Now that’s a perfect example of degrading women. Every GIRL including the ones who made a comment on here, was singing that song. Yung Berg made RACIST comments about dark skinned women, yet his video is still being played on BET and is still on 106′s countdown. So PLEASE stop the hypocrisy. Give the women a break. If you don’t like her or her music that’s fine, but to make ignorant ass comments and then continue on and on about it, is old and it’s sad.
