Big Boi releases his new video for his second single, “Sumthin’s Gotta Give,” featuring songstress Mary J. Blige. The new song is taken from Big’s solo album, Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, which drops sometime late this year.

Hey get me bodied
Luda didn’t say nothing bad about Obama he did an Obama song called Obama Is Here. He called Hillary a B and said said John McCain need to only be in a chair if he is paralazed in a wheelchair. Then he called Bush the worst of all the presidents. *sighs* I love Luda but he should have waited he just got an endorsement deal. SMH

I was blown away by this. Both Big Boi and Mary were preaching on this song. The message is awesome and what most people are thinking about the state of the U.S.
I really liked what Big Boi siad about the majority of hip hop today too. It was so true, a lot of them talk about nothing but dope and brag about money. Thank God rappers like Nas, Common, and The Roots are still doing their thing to bring some balance to hip hop.

Loving this!!! Big Boi and MJB makes for a great collabo! BTW, there are gonna be a lot of comments about Mary’s sentimental attachment to that blonde wig/weave or whatever the heck it is. Imma need you to switch it up, Mary. She’s still that chick though!

Mary J. Blige talks a good game and I know you why I am so hard on her about the blonde. But, us black woman need to have more pride in our appearance.
What white woman do see rocking an afro for over ten years. Ok eneough is enough.
I like Mary but I hate the old white woman wig she is always wearing. She is singing “Sumthin gotta give” Yeah I agree the WIG take back your pride girl.

I absolutely dislike Mary for some reason, but this is really great song. I love it.
@ 9,
Oh please. Luda needs to sit his crazy ass down. I may not be President Bush’s #1 fan but I really feel like people need to show some respect. I know he had done somethings that upset people but that doesn’t mean you go around dissing him in every song. I think he gets that fact that more than half of America has turned agaisnt him. I mean damn this is your President, how would you feel if you were in his position and everyone hated you, and people keep making hateful songs about you. I don’t care how much you hate him, we all should be showing atleast some respect. Because I feel like we black people are getting are heads gassed by Obama being the next President, BLACK at that, that we aren’t thinking that, what if Obama messes up?? Would theses rappers do the same thing to him?? President Bush may be far from perfect in your eyes but he’s your president believe it or not. Do you think if we are constantly throwing bullets at him, he’s going try to change? Hell no, if I were him I would make y’all even more angry because that just ain’t right, at all.

@ 16 I agree Bush does deserve some respect.
Luda should have just keep his mouth shut because him disrespecting Hillary and calling her a B doesn’t make any sense to me and he has a daughter. He isn’t the first rapper to make a song about Bush Jay and Weezy both have songs about Bush.
You know Bill on Fox News will be all over this if he hasn’t said anything already. They were discussing it on CNN last night and I was like please think because you say something. I am sure it wouldn’t hurt Obama but the song could have been more positive and not dissing others.

Yeah the song is hot. I love it when rappers wake the hell up and do more than just try to make money by releasing trash. Mary is my girl but I’m tired of the blonde hair too. She’s too grown and too seasoned in the music industry to be walking around like that. Big Boi, I’m happy and proud that you did what you did and I hope that people listen and pay attention. This reminded me of a Nas track but not quite as deep. Nas can go over ppls heads sometimes.

Love the song…the video is good…mary doing her thing as usual…unfortunately i seriously doubt this song will get any play on coporate radio and viacom might run the video a couple more times on BET but that’s it…they are not going to add it to heavy rotation…i’ll go to itunes and buy it maybe people can make it a hit that way…but it’s no way in hell the system is going to allow a song with a message to move up the charts the traditional way…it aint happening.

I am loving this one. Big Boi did his thing on this one, and I hope it gets the airplay it needs so that people can hear it. But then again, because it’s not about the biggest stack of money or shiniest chains or someone’s dance step it may not get the play it needs.
@#18
Luda was trying to say Riley was wrong for getting the Pepsi campaign shut down on him, but right now Luda is giving him more juice to try an “ruin his good name”. Yeah, free speech and all but how can you demand respect when you aren’t saying anything respectful of others, and your actions and words aren’t lining up. That’s like the slummiest entry level worker, saying he should have the corner office and leather chair to the CEO.

@ 21 I understand where your coming from and that is so sad that something so positive like this probably won’t get the rotation it derserves. But if we start calling our local radio stations it can happen!
@22 I agree with you a 100% we need to be more careful on how we use Obama name not saying we back down at all. We just need to be more careful because there’s people in this country that at any means nessary are willing to stop this movement. So to all Obama supporters be careful with your actions and words. Because we must stay ahead of the game at all times.
And leave my sister Mary alone! LOL

Why is it that people focus on the color of Mary’s hair, and not what she’s saying in the song along with Big Boi? A hair color does not determine weather a person doesn’t have pride in themselves. It’s a style, a fashion choice. I guess wearing red lipstick is trying to be more ‘white’ as well? Mary hair has been every color, except purple and you all still focus on the negative. Give it up. She’s a grown ass woman and will wear her hair just like she wants to.

The song started out very well and then it became apparent that it was another shill song for Obama and Big Boi is being used as a propaganda puppet. What’s funny is that none of these black artists know the in’s and out’s of these so-called political figures or their backgrounds. I knew when that dingbat cokehead, Mary J. Blige, started screaming about how there’s no difference between black and white that this was some political propaganda nonsense. Then, if you pay attention, you see all the same h*mosexual dudes that you normally see getting exalted i.e. John Legend, Hill Harper, etc. Whatever. Black people fall for the same stupidity every four years.

Big ups to Big Boi and Mary J. for this one. It really is about time that we integellently support the folks that we want in office. Notice I said INTELLIGENTLY. I’m happy that Ludacris is an Obama supporter, but we have to learn how to provide support in a way that will not fuel the fire for the opposition. Did we learn nothing from Rev. Wright. Gone are the days when we can blindly say and do anything in support of our own candidate to the detriment of the opposition. Anything we say or do WILL be cut down into 15-30 second soundbytes and used against the very thing that we’re standing up for. We have to be smart.
I also find it interesting that there are only 33 comments on this post, but if they post something trifling like Lil Wayne’s new video, you might be the 233 comment. Just cause its positive don’t mean it ain’t worth your time. Educate yourselves people, it’s the only way we’re gonna make it outta this mess.
