Rihanna’s video is pure hottness, and so is she. I don’t love the song, but it may grow on me-like everything she does.

Rihanna has appeal b/c she takes risks with her stlye and music. If there is one thing that irritates me about Beyonce, it’s that she rests on her laurels. Her look and sound have not evolved much from her DC days.

Beyonce is super talented, but she hardly steps out of her comfort zone. Being a “popstar” means continual reinvention-Madonna understands that, Christina Aguilera understands that and yes, Rihanna understands that. Sometimes your reinvention will be a huge success (i.e. “bad girl” Rihanna) or flop (i.e. Xtina’s retro look put her under the radar). Either way you have to switch it up sometime.

Beyonce has had the long blonde weave, glittery short dress style and boooty-bouncin music since she was a teen. I think it’s fair for anyone to say that she needs to go back to the drawing board. She is interesting as she is:beautiful, gifted and successful, but if she wants to maintain that “it” factor, she is going to have to find a new way to excite us, not just complacently wallow in her comfortable niche.

Rihanna’s image has been a cut above the rest for awhile-she is utterly the baddest in that department. Talent-wise I don’t think she holds up that well. She can sing fairly well, but she is not a great performer, and her music is hit and miss for me. And hell no she will never touch Britney-she is still the center of the entertainment world.
