I will have to agree with you for a moment. But you can’t possibly tell me that McCain is supporting everything you agree with also. I always look at it that way, that’s why I’m an Independent. I’m not one of those ‘Obama ‘08′ people either, don’t get me wrong, a black president would be absolutely amazing but you would have to be more than just black to get my vote. And I personally don’t think that Obama has it all. But I agree with the abortion fact that you made and the gay marriage, because I too am a Christian and I definitely wouldn’t want a president who supports those things. It is just so wrong and I garuntee it will raise the bar of teen pregnancies. But this is my opinion, we all have them, so.

Well, I’m just proud of the fact that the Obamas are demonstrating to the world a positive image of a black family, in particular an American black family. It’s about time. Our image has been tarnished due to the travesty of hip hop, MTV,BET, etc. It’s a great change to let the world see a positive person for a change. And I really think that people around the world can relate to Obama because he’s not filthy rich, his family is working class, and poor. He and his family are so normal, everyday people, who struggled, and no matter what continent or race you identify with, you can relate. I love the fact that in his speech he discuss how everyone of different cultures, nationalities had to suffer, it’s not just an American black thing, but an universal thing. I respect the fact that he’s talking about unitying the world , that’s a beautiful thing.

And while I totally disagree with Obama on abortion and gay rights, you have to listen to his reasoning on those issues. On abortion, his views are such stated that many Pro-life people feel that he can be swayed to become pro-life. They are hopeful on that issues. And as far as gay rights are, i know that he said that as far as the military is concerned that many of the gay soldiers that were kicked out of the military were translators , and if they weren’t kicked out, we could have used them to get information. So, I believe he’s using the theory of a few might suffer , but the greater good is more important because it saves more lives.

BTW: How beautiful that this black man is making history with a back woman by his side. That is great and this is historical.

To the people commenting about abortion and gay marriage, keep in mind that to God, sin is sin. If you’ve ever lied, stolen, cheaten, etc it is all considered the same in God’s eyes. The world is longing for a leader of the most powerful country in the world that will bring change. Whether he can do it or not is another thing. It was a decent speech and it was a hurdle that he had to get over, European politics is completely different to American politics so he had to make sure that what he said appealed to American voters. Though he sees the world through rather rose tinted glasses, we certainly need some optimism. His only problem are the blue collar white workers that he needs to win over in key swing states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia who will vote McCain or abstain. That’s where elections are won and lost.

This is a phenomenon. The gay spoke in front of 200,000+ people in a foreign country, not as president of the United States, but as a senator. I never thought I would live to see all of this. You know what I have done? I have gathered most if not all of Obama’s big speeches - from his first speech at the DNC convention to this one, with the hopes of someday to be able to have my son (who is 3 now) watch it.

At #4, Obama may support abortion and gay marriage because God blessed us with something call Free Will. God does allow us to sin and he will be the judge.
