A couple of days ago, we posted up an unreleased song from Fantasia, entitled “Broke,” and I noticed that production is exactly the same of a Nicole Wray song that leaked a while ago entitled “I’ll Take Your Man.” Of course, it sounds like a Rich Harrison production from the drums and live instruments but we later found that it is produced by Midi Mafia.
Even though the song isn’t exactly the same, who do you guys think rode the beat better? I dig both songs, but what do you guys think?

I actually enjoyed both songs. It’s funny how small the music community is when it comes to “hot beats” and production.
I agree that the songs are completely different in terms of topic. Both Nicole Wray and Fantasia are incredible singers and they both ride the beat beautifully. I think they both really put it down.
The only thing I don’t necessarily like is the opening on Nicole’s song when she’s cursing up a storm–I understand she’s in character but jeez…lol. Nevertheless, she’s still a dope and slept on singer that people need to wake up to.

I really liked both versions but Tasia made it superultrafunky. I wish she would do more stuff like this . her voice is so soulful and sometimes I feel like the R&B tracks she usually sings over don’t do her voice justice.

i like nicole’s version wayy better…im not sure what it is about tasia’s voice sometimes that gets on my nerves….but this song is one of em….the beat for both of the songs are good… but i like nicoles song wayy better!.

I’m Fantasia’s Number One in the Midwest so I have been rockin’ Broke for a minute. I think the track sounds like an ol skool aretha franklin track. Nicole Wray though did her thing and Im feeling her too….aint she the chick off of Hurricane Chris song Momma? Tay rocked the beat and I actually like the production a little better. FANTASIA; hands down! Nicole sounded awesome as well but that damn Fantasia with a swagger like no one else is hard to top. Also, I’m not sure of Nicole’s range but Fanny would scat all up and down Nicole; just my opinion.

Nicole Wray. I’ve always loved her. I’ve had this song on my ipod for over a year now. I don’t like Fantasia’s version. Too much screaming.
I”m sorry but there’s really no question, the Nicole Wray song is delivered with so much more skill and care. Fantasia sounds like she’s belting out a throwaway track that someone she could care less about wrote for her. The phrasing in her song is horribly disjointed and the verse structure is extremely sloppy.
i like both songs, fantasias voice annoys me after a while though.
