Some of the worlds must accomplished and acclaimed female artists have joined together for the song “Just Stand Up,” a charity single in support of Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), a new initiative to raise philanthropic dollars for accelerating ground-breaking cancer research.
The roster of ladies include Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Fergie, Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus, Melissa Etheridge, Ashanti, Natasha Bedingfield, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Leona Lewis, LeAnn Rimes, and Carrie Underwood. The project was conceived by Antonio “L.A.” Reid of Island Def Jam Music Group and was produced by Reid and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. This will be their first collaborative effort in two decades.
The all-star television performance premiere of the song will take place live on Friday, September 5th, when ABC, CBS, and NBC simultaneously devote one hour of commercial-free prime-time to this nationwide event. This will be the first simultaneous cross-network broadcast ever to raise funds for the fight against a disease.

See, this is why I don’t like charity songs like this, where 10+ famous singers are singing in it….I understand why songs like this get released, because of the massive star power.
But it’s not worth it to me when each singer only sings a line or two, and you can’t recognize who sung what.
Let’s face it, alot of the singers chosen for this song doesn’t have a distinct voice. Hell, should’ve thrown Keri Hilson in the mix *rolls eyes*

Beyonce made the song LOL OK my girl did her thing. I woulda liked to have heard a little more from Keyisha, she only got like one line and surprisingly I actually liked Rihanna’s part, I could hear the little ‘ella ella eh eh’ part in there lol.

This song is just ok, the only voices I heard were Beyonce, Fergie, Mariah, Mary J and Rhianna, the other ones were just not distinguishable at all, didnt hear Ashanti, ciara, don’t know Miley’s voice and dont know anything about Natsha Bedingfield, they couldv’e done better with this song, its not good as We are the World, or the song You will Know, or even when the rappers did We’re all in the Same Gang, this is not a #1 song at all.
For this many artists to be on the song, I think it would have made sense to give each person two or three lines so we heard wach individual voice then everyone on the chorus. I love Beyonce and Rihanna and Mary J, but they dominated the song. For instance, after Beyonce got the whole first verse to herself, she continued to be the featured voice in the add-libs throughout the remainder of the song. I heard some background falsetto from Mariah and a good amount of Melissa Etheridge.
Overall, the song was nice and it benefits a worthy cause. My only questions are why the song wasn’t a little longer and If only a few of the voices were going to be distinguished or showcased, why were so many names added to the contributing roster? Another idea would have been to recorded 3 different verisons, spreading the singers out, giving each a chance to be highlighted.
They should’ve signed Christina Aguilera on to do the bridge, but of course she would have blew all their asses out.
