People like different things!
The fact that I like Solange’s music has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the fact that she is Beyonce sister. When her first album dropped, I was a huge DC fan, but I didnt buy her cd becuz I didnt like her music I felt she was trying too hard to be down.
True Amy Winehouse did bring the 60’s music back but does that mean no one else can do it? Do you think Amy Winehouse was the only person influenced by that time period? Can people just like someone’s music without being on someones “payroll”? if its not your style of music, then cool let it be, dont click on her music if you think everything she does is gabage. CL has posted plenty of her songs and im sure the people who are going on and on about her being garbage have listened to the same amount of songs as the people who think her music is nice. After the first 2 or 3 songs they posted you realized her sound was “garbage” so why keep listening.

It’s just trouble makers and BS-ers thats on the prowl tryna ruin this post. You don’t have to like the album I know that, but why do u gotta be so damn mean towards her and those who like her music, saying we’re on the Knowles payroll???

I am not sure why all the hate if you don’t like it then move on. I am wasn’t a Solange fan as a matter of fact I called her Sponge for a long time. I thought she was piggy backing off of Bee success. When her first cd came out she was young and she has grown as a person no one is the same person they were at 15 or 16. She has a child and has been married and divorced and is she her own person not a gimmick like people are saying. NO I am not on the Knowles payroll just stating my opinion.

Solange’s writing is horrible pseudointellectual kid-with-a-dictionary type stuff… and if you think she can sing you’re either naive or deaf…she misses notes and just holds them…letting them trail for seconds like she’s in key…she’s the musical equation of the kind of vehicular homicide that entails hitting someone again and again…like the Dentist did to her cheating hubby.

Im confused. First, how come when i try to dl her songs i can only find I Decided, Sandcastle Disco, and that Chronic Nightcap song? Where are the rest of u finding those others (unless u already have the album)? Second, if this girl is so great and so popular among the public already, how come I havent heard ANY of her songs on the radio? Do they only play her outside of NY or something? If it werent for this site and stupid MTV, i wouldnt even know what her songs sound like.

If this album was that HOT, why didn’t it chart? I agree with whoever said that Solange’s marketing team/family is heavy on this blog. You know Matthew is shisty. I read somewhere that she once broke all of Beyonce trophies that she had won in competitions in earlier years. So I can certainly understand Beyonce and her family trying to launch this chick. If this doesn’t work, she will probably be the one to pen the book “Naughty Knowles, Signed Sincerely”. LOL

@122 - She did get a nose job to look more white, but Solange got those short teeth capped to look more presentable (but the teeth thing was a good move). Beyonce have them too, but they aren’t as short as Solange’s were.

I think solange is a Beyonce knock off …… I hate her music !

The Amy Winehouse stans need to sit down and recall that Ms. Crackhouse not only took a black singer’s style but she also copped her band (Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings). So, get the facts before you refer to her as an originator. I like Amy too but she didn’t create or innovate s**t.

Solange has never claimed to be Bey and is totally cool with being herself even if people don’t get it. How many of you with siblings are IDENTICAL in looks, behavior, taste and style with your sibling/s? Don’t worry, I’ll wait………… Right. So, I think it’s pretty damn cool for a young chick with an uber-famous sibling to be able to craft her own story and maintain her own identity. If you do think that her album is good , just look at some of Beyonce’s old pictures and style and you will see Solnage. I think that she should have her own identity and I think that she will go further. None of her music has been all that successful. The little props that she did get was because of Beyonce !

Solange is definitly an unrated artist not because she can’t sing or because her style is different it’s because she is Beyonce sister . #170 It’s funny that you say Amy copped a black woman’s band because she was put with this band by none other than Mark Ronson…the guy Solange begged (her word) to work on her album. He put them together because he thought they’d make great music together, which means their sounds were already comparable and if you’ve heard her demo’s (which were done yearrrrs before Mark even came into the picture) you’d here that her sound is comparable to the band’s. And as for her stealing a black person’s style…she made herself a student of jazz music so I would think it more appropriate to accuse someone else of misappropriating the genre…like Beyonce who goes on and on about Miles Davis but has yet to turn out anything even remotely true to the art…(and isn’t Solange responsible for most of her hits? lol). The truth is Solange is just fake…she’s a mediocre singer and her writing is just a string of cliches.

well, i listened to wouldve been the one, and it took me back. i was singing and found myself on tears. it was passionate. the woman can blow. i got the album as a gift to a friend and i burned it to my laptop,thinkin i wasnt gonna listen and ended up feeling her. i love her voice and im listening to wouldve been the one as i type this comment.
