BERNIE MAC’S MEMORIAL SERVICE
Sunday, August 17, 2008
Rhonda McCullough (R), wife of Bernie Mac, is comforted at a memorial service celebrating the life of her late husband as she looks at his photo Saturday.
The memorial service for actor/comedian Bernie Mac (born Bernard Jeffrey McCullough) was held at the House of Hope on Saturday in Chicago. His wife Rhonda and daughter Je’Niece were joined by thousands of Bernie’s fans and celebrity friends. Lines wrapped around the building as people entered the House of Hope to remember the beloved funny man.
Mac died last week from complications with Pneumonia at the age of 50.

You know, I really just thought about Bernie’s body of work. He was one of the hardest working Black actors in Hollywood and he was SSSSOOO talented! I loved his work and I think about his family daily. I pray that Bernie made peace with everyone and the Lord and that he is truly resting in peace and working for God.

I agree w/you #36!
His wife looks so pitiful in the picture…..it really is something in today’s age for them to have been married for over THIRTY years. That is really special. Even after Bernie’s fame blossomed he still stayed with his wife. Its something to look up to and admire! He didn’t dump his wife for a new young thang. At least Bernie left this earth knowing he was a wonderful husband and father. God Bless His Family! Miss U Bernie.

I attended the memorial service and it was a nice service but sad at times. Especially when the Kings of Comedy got up to speak. D.L. Hughley broke down crying and then everyone else lost it as well. D.L. said that he wished he would’ve gotten the chance to tell Bernie how much he really loved him.
Bernic Mac was a loving family man and the “KING” of comedy. He will really be missed!

Red Foxx, Richard Pryor, Robin Harris (He too was too young to die as well) will be there to meet you at the gate Bernie….I am sure you all will keep the big guy laughing up there……I was just watching House Party I (Robin Harris) and II(Bernie Mac) the other day….saying to myself that this guy just was too talented to be in this movie…he just didn’t shine in that movie…then I turned over to Ocean’s 13, and BAM….There was Bernie again…..WOW how much he had evolved was right in front of me….and now he is gone! He will be truly missed!

I loved ” The Bernie Mac Show” and Bernie Mac because it/he represented the black family/community very well. I like the picture of the cast. Those children have grown up (especially the older one, everytime you see her, she is tatsefully dressed and seem so elegant) to be amazing. I belive it is because of that show and his influence. Rest in Piece Bernie Mac. I want to know why is it we couldn’t get a crowd like that from that same dangerous neighborhood at the stop the violence rally. I mean no disrespect to Bernie Mac, but, those same people are dodging bullets too come out their house and barely no one showed up to stop the violence in their neighborhood, but, now the line is around the corner.
