It just occured to me that Solange may actually be on or near Hadley Street, being as though she explained the meaning behind the name of her band.
I love the fact that Solange is being herself. Yes, her style is funky, but it suits her.

She really wants to be different but it comes off forced. Someone people just are different like Santigold or MIA or Estelle, the swagger and style of these women you can tell are not forced. Its like J.S. and Ashley, she tries to be so different from J.S. that comes off like a bad Avril Lavine.

I really like Solange’s music. She has an old soul. I will be getting the CD. Just try something new with the hair. Not so much of it.
She said in an interview that her father bought land on Hadley street in TX? Which she said was a “bad” area but it’s being revitalized now? Anyway I understand the concept of incorporating high fashion with the environment….but I don’t think they quite pulled it off. It’s a little too much of the “environment”. The background looks a mess. Maybe if they would did the background greyed out and had her in color…. anyway I like that she’s different and not trying to shine in B’s spotlight…..
I understand her concept a little in wanting to be different but these pictures look like she got one of her friends to take pictures of her in a backyard in the hood. But I respect her in staying true to herself and what she likes. She’s still beautiful!

Her music is nice even though I prefer Jazmine Sullivan – but it is all just too much for me. I am not big on the sibling thing. But I wish her all the success.

Solange has really stepped up and has become her own woman beyond Beyonce’s lil’ sis. Her music is different & I can respect her for that. She also got a whole bunch of cool points with me on how she handled that guy who made it onto the stage while she was performing. Most probally would of just been like get im off! But she was like Let him Stay! He aint hurtin’ nobody! I liked the way she handled that. Solange is A OK in my book & I wish her much success with this new album.

I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW UNABLE PPL ARE TO EMBRACE SOMETHING DIFFERENT!!! Actually, I CAN believe it… I cannot explain how much i am feeling solange right now…She’s taking her album on completely unchartered roads, and somehow, the song still has an oldies, classic feel to it. As artistes, they must be judged; they make good money and are not excluded from criticism, but at the same time, its difficult for someone to put their heart and soul into something (especially something as risky such as solange’s project) and have people shit on it! Lets open our minds and give her a shot to do her thing—- I LOVE THE PROMO PICS! I can’t explain how i feel they tie so much into the album name. If Solange’s album fails to infinity, she can be proud, because she stepped out of the box, tried something different and she will always have a fan in me!

I actually agree with #29. I think the promo pics are great and effective at representing the title of the album SOL-ANGEL. The wings represent the angel and the outfits represent the soul fullness that came out of the music that is found in alot of the black genres of music we find today. So what if she would never be like her sister she’s not suppose to be. I think her music in the past was not that great but this album defintely deserves some props she’s definitely grown into an ARTist.
and people, chill out with the she/her music is “different” thing. We’ve already established that it’s not.

Seriously people? Are you guys that slow? I’m pretty certain that Solo was going for that look for the pics, sort of amateur and raw, hence the contrast between high fashion and the gritty natural environment. And CLEARLY these pics suit the theme o the album. I love ‘em.

@Beauty QT i don’t think they taken here we have streets like 2234 and 1960 but not 40th street. I am a huge fan of hers her new sound really works for her I wish her alot of success with her new cd. I am buying a copy next Tuesday. Now I am waiting Brandy, Monica, and Bee. I have like 15 cds on my list to buy for the rest of the year.
