Shawntae “Da Brat” Harris, 34, was sentenced to 3 years in prison Friday, as a result of hitting and slashing a women in the face with a bottle of rum last Halloween. TMZ is reporting that Da Brat will also receive 7 years probation.
About six members of Harris’ family wept when a sheriff’s deputy took her into custody. “I love y’all,” Da Brat said as she was led out of the courtroom. “We love you, too,” the relatives replied in unison.
The incident happened at a Halloween party at Studio 72 nightclub (owned by Jermaine Dupri) last year. The rapper got into an altercation with the waitress and was said to have picked up a bottle of rum and smashed it into the women’s face. The victim was taken to the hospital with cuts to her face and above her eyes. The woman suffered permanent facial scarring.

First let me to those who are saying she got what she deserved, Let me say if we all got what we deserved we’d all be in HELL, but JESUS paid the price for that. This is why people cooler heads need to prevail, and it aint always a good idea to drink excessively. Had she thought about it and walked away, she’d be free, and her pockets would still be heavy. Let this be a lesson to you all (including myself) of what not to do. Add the fact that alcohol reduces inhibitions, and that’s just not a good mix.
What I wanna know is where were her friends to stop her doing something crazy. That’s another lesson, watch who you keep around you, if people always telling you your ish don’t stink then maybe they not good of a friend.

This has not been a good few days for Lisaraye nor Da Brat. Da Brat was going to get more time, but probably her lawyers got her a better deal. This is not the 1st
time she was charged for aggravated assault. A few years ago, she allegedly pistol wimped a girl in an Atlanta club. The girl’s peeps tried to shoot the Da Brat’s limo at the Post Chastain Apts, but they shot at the wrong limo. She needs anger management and alcohol/drug classes. Perhaps jail will calm her down. Who knows? She may come out worse.
