Keri Hilson’s debut album, In A Perfect World…, originally slated for September 23rd release has been pushed back. The debut from thei singer/songwriter is now October 7th. I have to admit, I’m a little disappointed, but everything happens for a reason. I’m sure Mosley Music Group/Zone 4 and Interscope just want everything right for the release of the project. I hope this doesn’t happen again, ’cause it’s been a long time coming for Keri.
RIHANNA SCORES #1 WITH “DISTURBIA”
Rihanna has snagged her fourth #1 spot on the Billboard chart with her pop/dance hit, “Disturbia.” Admittedly, I hated the song at first, but after the video, I got hooked. According to Nielsen Soundscan, the track jumped from #3 to #1 this week, surpassing boyfriend Chris Brown’s “Forever” which is still riding high, remaining at #2 for a second week on the charts.
I’m not hating, but it’s funny to me that 3 out of 4 of Rihanna’s #1 singles all came from her latest album, Good Girl Gone Bad, even after releasing two albums (Music of the Sun and A Girl Like Me) just a couple of years before. It really just goes to show that after this “image change,” people completely forgot about Rihanna’s dancehall/Reggae roots and really have clung to this trendy, pop image.
I really wish that Rihanna would have saved “Disturbia” for the first single from her fourth album. I think that sound and video would have been a really good way to reintroduce herself. She probably just couldn’t wait, so she dropped it on Reloaded.
USHER PREPS 2 NEW SINGLES
Looks like your boy Usher is doing everything in his power to keep his latest LP, Here I Stand afloat. After the single “Moving Mountains,” we haven’t heard much from him, but it seems as though he is dropping two new singles at the same time.
Although it was previously reported that “His Mistakes” was the forthcoming third single from the project, radio is being serviced with the album’s title track, “Here I Stand,” as well as the Prince-influenced “Trading Places.”
I actually like the song “Trading Places,” regardless of how silly I think the lyrics are. I think it’ll be a good move for him to release that, just not sure if it will revive the album. I can see it getting radio spins.
It has been rumored, too, that Usher has already begun recording a new album, and that it will be more up-tempo than the lukewarm Here I Stand release.

And for the idiot who brought up Mariah Carey. I dont even consider her black, but Beyonce has more grammy’s than her and she has accomplished waaaay more than Mariah. Mariah has sold more albums because she’s been out way longer. But Bey has accomplished more from music to movies to endorsements to live performances, etc. I like Mariah but really they are both in their own different league.
I wont even get started on Rihanna. When her catalogue is even half as long as Beyonce’s and Mariah’s then you can mention her in the same sentence as them.

Beyonce is a beast and just like someone said her worst is still better than people best. What won a lot of people with B’Day that wasn’t feeling the cd was her stage performance. People can say what they want about her weave, booty and all but she puts on a great show bar none. She can also pull you in without the booty popping check for her singing DIL and Flaws and All on her DVD.
She is not perfect her fall was seen all over the workd but she jumped back up and rocked it out a sign of a true performer.
People always want to talk about her parents but who would you want to have your back ?(see Usher) They have her best interest at all times and now she is pretty in control of her career. I can’t wait for her to drop her next cd in Nov. I know she is going to bring that heat.

Congrats to Rihanna. She’s keeps the cuts coming. All people can do is hate it, because they sure can’t stop it. She looks so gorgeous in that photo. Almost every popular female artist catapulted to the top primarily because of their image and sex appeal:Madonna, Janet, Britney, Alicia, Beyonce, J.Lo, Christina Aguilera etc. While all are extremely talented in way or another-they wouldn’t be big if they weren’t hot, and that’s all there is to it.
I like Keri alot, but she doesn’t seem to have star quality. Her writing is legit, but her voice has no personality or distinction. Wish her the best though.
Usher has hit a milestone in his career, I’d say. He just doesn’t have that ultimate sexy guy-singer thing he used to have. Chris Brown has upstaged and all but replaced him. If he comes with stronger material on the next album, he could be back on top.
Trading places is cool, but i still think Whats a Man To Do is his best song on that album.
RiRi got better with this album. I think that whole reggae theme didn’t really fit her. She is fierce now and I dont’ think she was bleached. I’m also glad they cut her hair because the music industry went crazy with the Britney Spears weaves on Black women at one point. I liked Keri Hilson on the Timbaland album, but the “Energy” song and video is weak and really not selling and that’s why the record was pushed back. Rihanna and Miley Cyrus are about the only 2 females moving on the chart and they’re both under 20.
CL I am not surprised that Keri Hilson’s album got pushed pack. I know ya’ll like her and stick by her but I think that Keri is just not meant to be a singer. I knew her album was going to be pushed back. Looking at all the songs she has written, she is an extremely talented songwriter, and should just stick to doing that. Keri’s album got pushed back because she’s boring and that song Energy sucks. Not to mention she started selling sex from the get go. The same thing happened to Nicole Scherzinger.
I just checked billboard.com before I came here and couldn’t believe that Rihanna’s Disturbia was number 1!!! OMG! That song sucks so bad. You can’t dance to it and the beat just sucks. It’s all about IMAGE, IMAGE, IMAGE with this girl. Just because she got a new hair do and new fashion style, everybody’s on her p***y??? It’s disgusting how people feed into her and only care about her exotic look and body. She can’t sing or dance. People need to see that just because an artist is successful and appears to be nice, doesn’t mean they are talented or meant to be a star, or should feel sorry for them when people call them out on their lack of talent. I can’t wait for Rihanna to be over. Once she takes a break, people will forget about her.
Usher’s Trading Places is my sh*t even though the lyrics are stupid. I just love the beat and vocals. FYI, the reason why there are so many album push backs, lack of album sales, and not much on the radio is because we get all this pop, bubblegum garbage. Hasn’t anyone else noticed that urban music is fading away?
