As we reported, Keri Hilson is covering Trace Magazine’s annual “Black Girls Rule!” issue. Here are some of the photos from Keri’s shoot. She looks absolutely amazing.
Keri’s debut album, In A Perfect World… is set to release September 23rd. On the album, she’s working with Polow Da Don, Timbaland, Cory Bold, and her single “Energy,” is produced by The Runaways. From what I’ve heard, it’s a great project and I can’t wait for her. Make sure you support our girl Keri and show her some love.
CRAZY FAN INTERRUPTS SOLANGE SHOW
Solange performed her new single, “I Decided” at the Soul Picnic 2008 festival this past weekend in the States, after a short promo stint in London.
During the performance, a fan evaded security and joined Solange and her two back-ups on stage. Solange didn’t seem phased or frightening, and actually made the guy a part of the set. It was funny, because you can hear the security getting a little frazzled during her set.
Solange has been doing a lot of performing to promote her sophomore album, SoL-Angel & the Hadley Street Dreams, due out August 26th! Make sure you check out some more of her performance footage on her MySpace!
MISSY’S BLOCK PARTY PUSHED BACK
Missy Elliott fans are going to have to wait a little longer than the expect for her new album, Block Party. Her 7th studio album, Block Party is the follow-up to 2005′s The Cookbook. It’s been 3 years since her last release, but she made a quick splash back into the scene this year with singles “Ching-A-Ling” and “Shake Your Pom Pom,” which both appeared on the Step Up 2: The Streets motion picture soundtrack. She also leaked the Danjahands-produced single, “Best Best” from her new album.
Rap-Up.com has learned exclusively that Missy needs more time to record the album, even after mention of a September release date. Atlantic Records is currently looking to release the album sometime in November, around Thanksgiving but no release date has been confirmed.
I’m thinking that the label wasn’t pleased with the response that “Best Best” got, and they’re probably trying to get a new single. Missy hasn’t failed me, so I think she’ll be fine. All she has to do is put out a super innovative video, and give us a good feature, and she’ll be alright.

Wow, that was actually very nice of Solange to play it off like that. Knowing if it was Beyonce, she would have gave him a mean stare and have security yank him off the stage. Vocals were amazing! She real cool, I think I will check out her album.

i admire solange for that one, because most people would have acted as if he were a disease on the stage. so nice one for that and as for missy album, they’re killing me. i have been anticipating this album for like 2 years, since the cookbook was amazing, and now their pushing it back, the management needs to get to together.

Because of how Solange handled that, I really like her now. And her Louboutins. She has a very classy-homegirl type person, and its really cute. She’s like your best friend, who’s a lil hood, just borderline cute, but always the center of attention cause she has personality. I like her. And she has a very stable and strong voice, which is great….just needs to work on her entertaining skills a little more, moving around , feeling and looking more stage-ready and comfortable. With time!

This song is nice. It’s kind of making me want to hear it again. At first I couldn’t get into her. I dig.
But back to the matter at hand. This was staged. It’s so obvious, the security took way to long to respond. Security is usually strict as hell no matter where you go (clubs or concerts). Also the person filming is on stage, and they signaled way too late to have the “fan” removed. If I was part of the crew filming and saw a random guy in a bright red shirt get into my POV I would’ve said something that second.
They barely let you rest your arms on the barricade in front the stage in a club when there’s an artist. What makes you think they’re going to let someone of that size get past security and dance with Solange (Beyonce’s sister). Im sure they had to be even more tight at this venue. Mathew does not play.

I really like Solange, always have since that song with N.O.R.E…. i thought the singing thing wasn’t working out for her cos she wasn’t meant to do it, but I guess everyone was waiting for Mrs Carter to peak so they could focus on her more, at the time musta been hard, but in hindsight it was a good move, cos now Solange can do her thing.

I think she is the daughter that even if you tried to shelter her, she just wasn’t haven’t it. I think Solange is a lot like her father, a go get it. I believe this girl protects her sisters vs the other way around; even though I’m not saying Bee can’t or won’t. Second children tend to be like that. Solange girl you made a lot more fans with this one. It just shows people you won’t be stand offish when it comes to every day people.

Security was correct [after the fact] because this turned out well, but it could have easily been bad.
Superstar like Mariah Carey, or Beyonce would not have to deal with this type of situation: With all the security surrounding them, I dont even think anybody could have gotten on the stage during on of their show. And if it were to happen, then they would play it off, until security would have the dude off the stage, lol. It would have been the proper thing to do. But the fact that Solange handled it differently, I think it showed her playful and laidback personnality.
Solange’s video has me in splits and giggles. Hilarious!!! Really shows her personality. I know her sis would have reacted quite differently.

I live in MD, that is the most ghetto music festival around, every year there is a problem and the sad part is there are usually really great acts well at least not for the past two years oh well.
But I am mad brother was checking to see who called during her performance what the hell? And why was security taking so long to decide what to do, hello she could have been hurt by the time the decided to act. And did that Big security dude have a perm or wave set (aka jerri curl) WTF????
Last thing, I still not feeling that song but at least Solange can hold a note, I used to think she couldnt sing at all. She’s a mini Ashanti, not Beyonce yet.
