As we reported, Keri Hilson is covering Trace Magazine’s annual “Black Girls Rule!” issue. Here are some of the photos from Keri’s shoot. She looks absolutely amazing.
Keri’s debut album, In A Perfect World… is set to release September 23rd. On the album, she’s working with Polow Da Don, Timbaland, Cory Bold, and her single “Energy,” is produced by The Runaways. From what I’ve heard, it’s a great project and I can’t wait for her. Make sure you support our girl Keri and show her some love.
CRAZY FAN INTERRUPTS SOLANGE SHOW
Solange performed her new single, “I Decided” at the Soul Picnic 2008 festival this past weekend in the States, after a short promo stint in London.
During the performance, a fan evaded security and joined Solange and her two back-ups on stage. Solange didn’t seem phased or frightening, and actually made the guy a part of the set. It was funny, because you can hear the security getting a little frazzled during her set.
Solange has been doing a lot of performing to promote her sophomore album, SoL-Angel & the Hadley Street Dreams, due out August 26th! Make sure you check out some more of her performance footage on her MySpace!
MISSY’S BLOCK PARTY PUSHED BACK
Missy Elliott fans are going to have to wait a little longer than the expect for her new album, Block Party. Her 7th studio album, Block Party is the follow-up to 2005′s The Cookbook. It’s been 3 years since her last release, but she made a quick splash back into the scene this year with singles “Ching-A-Ling” and “Shake Your Pom Pom,” which both appeared on the Step Up 2: The Streets motion picture soundtrack. She also leaked the Danjahands-produced single, “Best Best” from her new album.
Rap-Up.com has learned exclusively that Missy needs more time to record the album, even after mention of a September release date. Atlantic Records is currently looking to release the album sometime in November, around Thanksgiving but no release date has been confirmed.
I’m thinking that the label wasn’t pleased with the response that “Best Best” got, and they’re probably trying to get a new single. Missy hasn’t failed me, so I think she’ll be fine. All she has to do is put out a super innovative video, and give us a good feature, and she’ll be alright.

Wow . . I am really impressed at how unfazed she was and how she allowed the guy to continue even after security tried to take him on the stage “TWICE” . . .Go Girl! you are my new friend in my head, lol. For that alone, I think I’ll get her album when it comes out.

IThat song is kinda corny, the beat is good.Hope there are better songs on her album. I do like her personality, she seems cool. Unlike her big sis, who seems plastic and vapid, when she talks.

why is it that everything Solange does it’s to make her seem more personable, down to earth, rebellious, edgy, etc. etc. while Beyonce is more the “good mama/daddy’s girl”? It seems so forced /manufactured/convenient. As for what Beyonce would’ve done I be she would’ve just smiled at kept performing until security took him off stage.. She usually doesn’t get fazed by interruptions during her performances lol.

@ Post # 21…this was soooooo not staged…i was there and security was basically non existant!!!! My friends and I realized that there were barely any cops around and we were like WTF?!?! I know this was a free concert but gosh!! They had so many drunk people there, even the guy in front of me was falling over, yet nobody was there to get these people sobered up! So I doubt that the guy was “hired” to get on stage. I love that song “I Decided”, its def in heavy rotation in my car. Props to Solange!

Solange is crazy! lol Still, I’m not really feeling her “I’m different” thing…she tries hard and when someone is trying to be highly artistic is super annoying… Rick Ross and Plies and all the other toy soldiers are less annoying than a wannabe Andy Warhol. Still, I can appreciate that she seems to say what she’s thinking. That’s cool. And about the “what would Beyonce do” thing…ummmm she would have had a fit. If you doubt that, go to youtube and see if you can find the little impromptu performace Destiny’s Child gave an awards show…Don’t know if it was the MTV awards or what (I think so) and you’ll see that when they began singing and Wyclef Jean (who had a hand in them getting their deal) who was presenting an award with the group joined in, she made a face at him. LOL! so imagine if this drunken farmer had jumped on stage…she would have had him beaten.
Maaaaaaaaan, Beyonce’s ass would have pressed the hidden button on her mic that summons the national guard, who – even in the fighter jets they use to respond to her call – wouldn’t have made it there before she fired security for not going for the headshot, the backup singers for not sacrificing throwing themselves between The Queen Mother and her assailant, and everyone in attendance from their day jobs for not ripping the stage apart to come to their goddess’s aid.
And for that reason, I have a little more respect for her little sister. Give me a woman who knows how to say “fuck it!” That’s what I was raised around…

i think it solange’s song is nice and although the performance is simplistic it’s nice and classic. it was smart of her to keep it simple for now. she can’t come out dancing too much initially because she will be compared to her sister. this is a good start to being independent.
