Solange is gearing up to release her new album, SoL-Angel & the Hadley Street Dreams in just a couple of weeks, and revealed, is the rumored third single, “T.O.N.Y.” The cool, mid-tempo track was produced by Jack Splash and co-written with hitman and funk-master, Cee-Lo Green. Listen closely, ’cause you might miss the hidden message. “T.O.N.Y” is actually “The Other Night Why (Did I Do That?).”
Not only does this flex’s Solange’s writing ability, it also showcases her voice. This is definitely going to be in heavy rotation.

Her writing has improved? LMAO! It’s improved alright. People, I guarantee you that Cee-Lo is the brains behind most of this writing. Solange just wrote the ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’.
Solange’s candids look better than her promo shots. She’s just not the kind of girl who can wear wild make up and she should accept that. Her lips and nose look crazy here…She really shouldn’t make herself look worse for the sake of being some pseudointellectual artist…nobody buys her as a new Goapale, anyway.
CL great review. I have listened to the new cd ( early peep ) and I must say as a veteran music critic, songwriter, and retired musician this is some really good material that is much needed in the industry right now. She takes us to a happy place where it’s not all about the same ole, same ole. Gas prices, economy crunch, it is so good to have some sunshine feel good vibes in a song… In my opinon it is really sad when you see people make comments on artist such as I can’t stand her level, she’s copying this artist level – tired of her already level.. Those of us who know better should take the high road- don’t sit up on CL and go back and foth over some haters. People making these comments most likley have issues already, mad at the world, issues with a man, woman, parents, issues with self…
HATEVILLE NEIGHBORHOOD
Comments like I don’t like the song, not feeling it, cool, that is your choice, everything else on a straight up personal level when you don’t even know the aritist or have no idea the dues they go through is simply on a hate attack.
So what she has a family that has made it in the industry and more times than not The K Family from Houston successfully finds more ways to increase the wealth.
Solange still pays dues, interviews coast to coast in a 24 hour day, studio time, up at 5am down, maybe around midnight, has a son, young mother, appearances, dues.. they are getting paid. For every piece of clothing you put on your back or jewelry, spending your 9 to 5 pay, business owner pay, allowance eating establishments, , grocery shopping, paying that light bill, that is someone’s family racking it up, you blowing them up for the neccesities and some wants – Yett we clown on our race for making it. Wow!
It’s not that you hate the artist, most times it is that you hate where you are in life. Those who made it have been there but the difference between them and you… they did something about their situation… if you argue this point and say, I love where I am.. why are you hating still? I am just throwing this out there to those who make comments beyond.. I am not feeling the music.. feel what you like.. that”s cool…
Much success to Solange for bringing a refreshing sound to the airwaves, and having the gusto to really get out there and do her thing. If more would believe in themselves, trust its not an easy road but it can be done to do whatever you want to do and make a decent living from it. Music… wow I love it, it’s been around for a long time, ages, Innovative… not easy,not impossible but not easy but Solange ‘s new project is great and haters get use to her being blown up… better to have a sister girl blown up than wrecking her life in a downard spiral… TONY definitely not Tyrone…
I love me some Erykah, Jill and all that but sorry to disappoint you who don’t know your music too well… go take a musical ride with Millie Jackson, Marlena Shaw WOMAN OF THE GHETTO, powerful message, see if you don’t see some influence of some of today’s E & J and more… Dinah Washington, Etta James and more – you will find E & J and more have respect due these sistas and more to contribute to their sound and style… original… nah re invention… Solange is no differernt.. Truth…So I’ll end here.. just trying to open the mind more… its a cycle ladies and gentlemen, You respect the re-invention nad pass the torch, it’s all about keeping good music going…
