One of my favorite vocalists, Brandy, releases her official first single, “Right Here (Departed),” from her forthcoming 5th studio album. Brandy fans across the world have been on pins and needles, awaiting the release for the singer. The new single is produced by none-other than long time Brandy collaborator and friend, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins.
Rumors have swarmed around Brandy’s new release, but it has been confirmed that Brandy will link up with The Clutch, as well as the talented Bryan-Michael Cox. There are also rumors of Danja contributing to the album. It’s also been said that Brandy’s already filmed the video with a possible feature on BET’s Access Granted.

It’s okay. I like Brandy but really never been a huge fan since back in the day day day. She has a nice singin voice but her songs nowadays don’t really do anything for me. I like songs across different genres so it’s not an issue about the type of song that’s she’s singing. No matter what u sing or how u switch it up you have to really put ur foot in it and it sounds like she just put her toes in it but not the whole foot. As nice as Brandy sound singing in her own lane (and slightly different lanes), I’ve heard better. I liked her last singles from previous albums a lot better.
But as a person, I like Brandy’s personality and would always wish her the best. She seems like a really kind and humble person and I grew up on her “I wanna be doooown” and the “The Boy is Mineeee” and her feature on Waiting to Exhale soundtrack is beautiful so she definitely deserves her success and respect in the industry. Just off the strength of her how hard she has worked and how much her core fans love her- I’m glad that she’s back too.

This song has hit written all over it. When I first heard it I was like…umm I don’t know. But when you listen to it again it really sticks. That’s what #1 records do. They are different…they are songs you wouldn’t expect, and they are catchy. Examples: Umbrella, No One, Be Without You, etc. Brandy is a smart girl and a great artist…trust…she knows what she’s doing. I’ll be supporting her.

I listened to this song twice to get really get the feel of it beforie I commented, and it’s just aight to me. It’ s reminding of of Umbrella, and it seems like something is missing. Anyway, I live in DC and we have 3 popular stations, two of which are urban and the other pop. My friend just told me that all 3 stations premiered her song on the same day. That is a good look. I can’t recall any of her songs from the last album being played on any stations. That just goes to show her and her label chose the right song to be released as her first single. Also shows that she’s really not playing with this next album.

She can SANG and yet he made her sound like she’s a MTB contestant. Let her free and do her thang like on the first couple of records! First offf, I made this chord progression for another record. I submitted this song to about 12 industry people for Beyonce and Rhianna and then I hear the departed record for the first time today.
