POLITICS: BARACK OBAMA’S DNC SPEECH + PHOTOS

On Thursday, more than 84,000 people jammed into Invesco Field at Mile High stadium to hear Sen. Barack Obama accept his historic nomination.

Obama explained to a roaring crowd that we must decide between four more of the last eight years or a new direction aimed at ending the conflict in Iraq and easing economic insecurities of working families. “These challenges are not all of government’s making, but the failure to respond is a direct result of a broken politics in Washington and the failed policies of George W. Bush. . . . I say to the American people, to Democrats and Republicans and independents across this great land: Enough!

i stayed up till 3am because that was the time it aired here in the UK.
but as someone who has been closely following the campaign trail (i am not american by the way) i thought that Barack’s speech was the best he has ever delivered! He came out and he humanised himself, he spoke of every single issue that needed to be addressed and he made his status known based on the issue of commander in chief! most importantly, he did not just speak of ‘change’ but he went into the specifics! that is what i wanted to hear – the details! and he did not leave any room for criticism from the republicans! Obama 08!

LMFAO@ #37 IGNORANCE IS BLISS AND YOUR DUMB ASS NEED MORE THAN CHANGE STOP LISTENING TO THOSE VOICES THAT IS TALKING TO YOU BECAUSE SOME WILL COME PREACHING THE WORD OF THE LORD AND ARE DEVIL WORSHIPERS I’M NOT GONNA BASH YOU BECAUSE IT IS OBVIOUS THAT YOU SEEK HELP SO I’M GONNA PRAY FOR YOU. JUST THE THOUGHT THAT A BLACK MAN IS MAKING HISTORY IN AMERICA MAKE ME PROUD TO BE ONE AGAIN! MANY BEFORE HIM HAS FOUGHT AND DIED FOR THIS TIME IN OUR HISTORY AND IT JUST MAKES ME PROUD TO SEE THAT THERE BLOOD SHED AND INCARCERATIONS WAS NOT IN VAIN. INSTEAD OF CRITIZING AND BASHING THE MAN WE SHOULD SUPPORT HIM BECAUSE MY PERSONAL OPINION IT IS GONNA TAKE MORE THAN FOUR YEARS TO FIX BUSH MESS BUT AT LEAST THERE WILL BE A CHANGE FOR THE BETTER. WE (BLACK PEOPLE) NEED TO BE LIKE THE OTHER RACES (JEWISH-WHITES, HISPANICS) BECAUSE IF ITS ONE THING THEY ASSES STICK TOGETHER NO MATTER WHAT UNLIKE MY FOLKES WHO ALWAYS GOT SOMETHING TO SAY BUT WHEN ITS TIME FOR ACTION AIN’T ABOUT NOTHING!

i really dont get how u would equate Gov Palin to Obama. have she ever been out of that country? out of alaska? all he is using her for is eye candy, and oil. she supports drilling of course. have she ever debated nuclear proliferation with russia? did she know that georgia faced threats since april?does she have any legislative experience (governors dont legislative, they have no power)……have she ever governed more that 2 people?what alaska’s population again? me personally, i thought maybe he would choose the e-bay ceo, but im personally offended that he went with palin over rice. oh i forgot condi was bush’s sec of state (wooo did he just dodge a bullet). rice has about 1 million years in experience and she graduate comlaudi (or however the hell) at sixteen.oh and shes a woman. she shopuld have been top choice if he were looking to sway women voters.

@THEWORLDWILLENDIN2012.. if it isn’t WE the people who vote to determine who becomes our next president then who the hell is it that decides?? do they just draw a name out of a hat? please explain that to me. i really need to know because maybe i’m missing something here.

  5. Theworldwillendin2012

@ 124, WE select an electoral college, which then gets to select the president, WE still vote, but our vote is the popular vote, its the electoral college’s vote that REALLY matters, & thats how despite Gore getting the popular vote, Bush still won, comprendo?

  6. YES WE CAN!!!!!!!!

@ 124 The electoral college…but it is still important to come out and vote, if he wins each state, he is more likely to win not only in the popular vote…this really matters when an election is very close, like the one we saw in 2000.

I am in love with this man and i know it is irrational but it is as if every time i see him, i just feel somehow. I know i sound incredibly stupid but there is just something about him that is immensely attractive, and not just to me i am sure. I love his voice (figuratively and literaly), his ideas and his sanguinity…in addition to how educated he is. Even more, I love how much he adores his wife and children; you see it with every look. And his family is just absolutely beautiful. His daughters are so precious and pretty, and his wife is the epitome of a strong, intellectual and beautiful black woman. I and I surmise other girls like me can only dream of a future family like this, and a husband like Barack Obama…. Barack the vote! :)

@ #37—- daaaaaaaaang homegirl!!! Hella on edge. Can’t argue with God talking to you (real talk) however … I’m hoping he whispers some words of Love into your heart bc that whole hateful rant about his lips and wife were completely unecessary and have nothing to do with the issues at hand.
…….BTW he is a P.I.L.F in MY book!

@post- I had chills…..it’s a special moment when you KNOW you are witnessing history…regardless of the outcome…we have been a part of something our great great grandkids will be reading about in the history books.

Thanks for the post J Dakar but why didnt you post about Mccain and his VP pick? Im not supporting the guy or anything but you should be a little more bias and give people the other side of this election so people wont make comment mindless comments like ” Fuck Mccain old ass” lol. Obama gets my vote but you should still question everything instead of just falling for propaganda.

I find it funny that when a person says that GOD talks to them, everybody else thinks he/she is crazy. On the flipside, those that ridicule that very individual have the nerve to turn around and say that they “need Jesus” or “imma pray for you”.
Just wanted to throw that out there…

That speech last night was one of hope and a sign that we as a society have progressed tremendously. I am so proud of Barack and Hillary for making history! Obama 08… Yes We Can and Will

“The difference is, that Hillary had like what 18 million supporters and Biden had like what–500,000? LOL, Biden brings absolutely nothing to Obama’s ticket, he’s not only a snake–he’s a useless one at that.”

LOL. I mentioned that before, and I agree 150% No argument from me on that point.

the white racists have already strted calling Michelle Obamo a monkey. They put a pic of her and the monkey. Unfortunately her pic look just like the ape pic.

  16. How much sex is he getting from his wife right about now? You know it’s on and poppin in the bedroom! Power is incredibly sexy. Ladies, you agree?

  17. Pinksorbet_08

I totally agree with you networking. Power is and always has been sexy.

  18. @37, I don’t think that’s God taking to ya dear….check urself.
I think Obama is a solid candidate.
The only thing that worries me, is that this country is just not ready for a black president, and that some racist backwards idiot will try to do something to him.
I hope not, I really do. But I’ll tell ya this, even at where I work, most of the white people have said out loud that things should stay the same.
Ever since this election process has started, I have heard the most ignorant things come out of people’s mouths….

You mentioned that Obama did drugs – what of Cindy McCain? She stole drugs from her own charity – everyone has faults and imperfections.

    Michelle O is not ugly!

  22. Miss. Tiandez Jones

Woww the time for change is now!
    The revolution will be televised!
Obama is breathtaking..he is definitely one of the best speakers of all time. I wish I were American just so I could vote this year; Canadian politics have nothing on this. I watch Obama and listen to his speeches, and I can tell that every word spoken is genuwine; i can tell that he is a man that values his word and that will bring about change. It has nothing to do with the fascination the world is fixated on- that a black man will be the next American president, but that a GREAT man will be the next American president. A lot is riding on Obama, but I know he will deliver.

Amazing speech, cant wait to see more of these.
His family and the image of a strong united black family are all too inspirational.

    OBAMA, ’08

  23. JAHAIRA

@130 I WILL PRAY FOR YOU TOO! I DID NOT RIDICULE #37 JUST THOUGHT THAT HE SHOULD APPRECIATE THE HISTORY THAT HE WAS LIVING THROUGH IT REALLY IS NOT THAT SERIOUS! LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO BE SO MISERABLE
