I was glad to see Hillary finally get behind Barack. I appreciated her speech, but I’m wondering why her supporters are still allowed to vote for her in the election? How can we unite the party when they can still vote for her even though she lost the primaries? I’m confused by that and have never seen this type of thing happen before. I saw the speech last night. I thought Chelsey looked very professional and I loved the introduction. I was a Clinton supporter in the beginning because I supported her view and I was intrigued by the idea of a woman for president even more so than a Black man. I guess the reason is that as a woman I know how much we struggle and she gave me hope that I can achieve anything. I later became disinterested because of her comments about Obama. This was a major turn off for me so I started to follow Obama more closely and decided to switch my vote.

In reference to her speech last night I thought it was good. I still think she put too much of her self in it though by making reference to what she stood for. I thought that was a throw off on Obama almost as of she was trying to say ok but what does he stand for. Bottom line she did what she had to do to try to unify the party. After all, isnt that what women do anyway? Yes, we do what we have to do but we always have a back up plan.

Hillary Clinton delivered the speech of her lifetime last night. It was really uplifting and handed the Democratic baton over to Obama. This country is in a mess. Hiliary Clinton’s speech was very moving, very inspiring. I liked the part of the speech when she spoke of Harriet Tubman. She wsa humorous when she shout out all her sisters of the traveling pantsuits..lol. Tonight, I believe Bill Clinton & Joe Biden speak & then Thursday it’s Obama himself with Jrennifer Hudson signing the national anthem.

I really enjoyed Hillary’s speech! I don’t know how sincere it was considering she’s still a bit “jaded” from the Primaries. And Bill Clinton is still saying he’s not gonna attend the nomination. Even though she gave her speech about supporting Obama, it still seemed as though she was campaigning for herself with the “I ran for….” and “my beliefs are…..” All in all, I think the speech was effective, though.

I saw the lady on CNN last night being interviewed by Suzanne Malveaux and unless I missed something…her support seemed simply emotional. I did not hear her give any reasons as to why she thought Hillary was the best choice other than she said that “she saw her future in Hillary”. And that based on HRC’s speech last night, she “looked Presidential”. For all we know, she was basing her support for HRC simply on the fact that she was a woman.

I’m not voting for Obama just because he’s black. When I tell people that I’m undecided who to vote for, they look at me like I’m crazy. Like I HAVE to vote for Obama because I’m black, please. I believe Hillary lost a lot of supporters when it became apparent that she would do/say just about anything to win. Her singlemindedness(don’t care if it’s not a word) and lack of foresight is what is hurting obama’s campaign the most right now. We don’t need someone like that in the white house. Completely false! Senator Obama’s main following were caucasians when his campaign began. Many of them had read his book Audacity of Hope or Dreams of My Father. There were very few African-Americans (AA)that were openly for Obaba. Infact, I remember CNN pundits in September shocked that AA weren’t supporting Obama in large numbers. There were several claims by AA, such as Al Sharpton, that he wasnt “black enough” or was “too white”. My counter argument was Hillary a WHITE WOMAN was “black enough”?!??! It was extremley hard for me to openly support Obama when the race began. Not because I didn’t believe in him but because other African-Americans always challenged my support. Many were very skeptical of Obama, he wasn “one of them”. Whatever THAT MEANS! He didn’t understand the “struggle” with his Ivy League education…

The allegiance to the Clintons ONLY BEGAN to wane when Bill Clinton made that racist, and yes it was racist, comment in regards to Obama winning North Carolina (remember comparing him to Jesse Jackson). The Clintons soon began to show their true colors. Senator Clinton used decisive race baiting tactics. People who were Clinton loyalist began to really question their “love for the Clintons”. Do I believe Hillary’s speech came from her heart? No. It was very politically correct and the focus was all too often on her. To me, it’s Hillary responsibilty to talk about what Obama has done in efforts to prove to her supporters, like many of you on this page, that Obama deserves this. She didnt do that last night, clearly. It didn’t go far enough for me - however, I’m glad she did it at all.

So, now Obama and the DNC want to hold the roll call away from the main hall, and stop the vote partially through … just in case Hillary does well, which might embarrass Obama and the DNC. This is what happens when a candidate and a party manipulate the process, and try to force a candidate down the throats of the constituents. Obama might have trashed the Clintons, and gotten over 90% of the black vote, but in the process America has been thrown under the bus.
P.S. After watching Hillary’s speech, it became obvious that she should be the democratic candidate. Many democrats must be feeling buyer’s remorse towards Obama now

Thank you! Senator Clinton’s speech was…what she had to do. There will be a portion of Hillary supporters that will not vote for Obama, regardless. They wouldn’t be pleased if he had made her VP. Why? Because to them she SHOULD have been President. Hence, there is no “right way” with the die-hard unmoving Clinton supporters. It is quite a shame they can’t see pass their own selfishnes for the good of the country. Hillary Clinton, in general, has disappointed me beyond belief. Her behavior throughout the primary was horrible. I won’t cite examples, just google it. And the behavior of her supporters, James Carville and Lanny Davis (to name an infamous few) just illustrates that a Clinton administration would have been disastorous.

Yet its time to turn the page. And I hope and pray that Clinton WORKS hard fundraising for Barack (although she has to retire her own 30 million debt). And she uses that fervent energy she demonstrated at the convention with her heavy hitter supporters closed doors. I am glad that Joe Biden will be the VP!

No matter how many strides black women make in the world, we will always be seen as physically or sexually gratifying, probably moreso than other women. Maybe because we are shape differently than most women or because in Africa and places of the African Dispora, the black woman’s body has always been sexualized, and not romanticized as other womens bodies. So, Dyson making a comment about Michelle’s backside will be deemed as acceptable because black women bodies have never been sacred as a white woman’s body. We can even recall the incident with Condoleeza and the former President of Israel, he told the press that he couldn’t concentrate on their conversation because he was focusing on her legs. No matter how we define ourselves as black women, men in general will always openly talk about how physical attributes moreso than our minds, that’s reality. Now, it’s how we use that to our advantage. Do. we become like Michelle Obama and keep it classy to make our husbands look good, or do we become a woman that feels that the only thing she has to offer a man is her body?

But, in Dyson’s defense, since I’m a Michelle Obama stan, I’ve noticed that most men are in awe of her, and gush, so maybe Dyson’s words came out wrong. Sometimes, men became so involved with looking at a woman he forget that his thoughts should not become words.

i just wanted to comment on the idea that ‘not voting’ is somehow better than voting for mccain. . .or even as someone mentioned ‘that just because you’re black doesn’t mean you have to vote for obama’. in this situation, not voting is the same thing as voting for mccain–you cannot just throw your vote away like that and think it’s not going to mean something in the bigger picture. as in many of the past elections, even if you don’t like obama you are voting for the lesser of two evils–i most certainly hope that you don’t think that means mccain! obama is the democratic nominee whether you like it or not. take away skin color and even names and vote on the issues. and true, you don’t have to vote for obama just because you’re black, but as a black person you have a duty to vote, period. too many people died and sacrificed for you to have that right, you can’t just throw it away.

Back to the video…it had some funny moments. The Hillary supporter holding the sign upside down jumping, the side eye glance Michelle was giving Hillary, the black girl crying that Hillary lost (WTF was that?). Over all Clinton did an excellent job.
