POLITICS: OBAMA & BIDEN ON THE TRAIL / MCCAIN’S SURPRISE PICK / RNC POSTPONED?

Saturday, August 30, 2008

82602538.jpg

A day after his historic speech in Denver, Presidential hopeful Barack Obama and his running mate Senator Joe Biden hit the campaign trail via a bus tour. Their first stop was Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the duo will continue the bus tour for the next few days to gain ground in key battleground states.

MCCAIN’S SURPRISE PICK

On Friday, Republican presidential candidate John McCain announced Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his surprise choice for running mate.

McCain met Palin at a Washington meeting of the National Governors Association in February, discussed the position by phone on Sunday offered her the No. 2 spot on Thursday at his home in Arizona. Many are calling this move a “considerable gamble” considering he and most Americans barely know her and just two years ago she was mayor of a small Alaskan town.

When Obama announced Biden as his running mate and the McCain campaign launched an ad asking why was Hillary passed over, I couldn’t help but think that McCain would probably choose a woman. I just had no idea it would be someone so far-fetched. The McCain campaign has always remarked of Obama’s experience or lack thereof, but Palin is even less experienced than the first-term Illinois senator.

According to McCain, though, “She’s exactly who I need. She’s exactly who this country needs to help me fight the same old Washington politics of ‘Me first and Washington second’.”

RNC POSTPONED?

Republican officials are considering delaying the start of the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul because of Tropical Storm Gustav, which is on track to hit the Gulf Coast early next week. White House officials are also debating whether President Bush should cancel his scheduled appearance at the convention on Monday.

For Bush and Republican presidential candidate John McCain, Gustav threatens to provide an untimely reminder of Hurricane Katrina. While renewing memories of one of the low points of the Bush administration, it would also take away from McCain’s acceptance of the party’s nomination.

Analysts say that both Bush and McCain will need to respond quickly to unforeseen problems and stay ahead of unfolding events, something they failed to do in the week after New Orleans flooded.

John McCain is from the old school of racist white thinking. He is counting on caucasions to be so stupid as to chose an inexperienced white woman and himself over Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

He made the argument that Barack Obama didn’t possess enough experience to run the White House? Does he think once that his Vice-President pick could run the country if his aged carcass kicked the bucket?

Does he feel that is all he has to do to gain the 18 million Hillary supporters is to provide a cheap Hillary knock-off look-alike? He is only focusing on winning the election at all costs instead of making the power moves necessary in the best interests of the United States.

Remember when Mike Tyson used to walk through his opponents and make them taste the canvas with the greatest of ease? Well, look for Joe Biden to rip Sarah Palin apart in the Presidentialdebates in the same manner as well as Barack’s thrashing of a pre-Alzeihmers John McCain! LOL!

The hardest part of this path for Barack Obama is over, he endured a more challenging time during the primaries, if they say that he cannot endure the rigors and stresses of being the President of the United States, just look at what he went through when they kept blasting the propoganda soundbites from the brilliant Dr. Jeremiah Wright!

McCain truly showed how desperate he is to win this campaign. Either that or he is senile.

My question is: If Palin were a man, would she have been considered?

The answer is no.

This was a terrible political move on McCain’s behalf. She is not ready to be second in command. Conservative GOPs will most likely be turned off by his choice. And if this was an attempt to sway Hillary voters, it will not work. At least not the intelligent voters who liked Hillary for her policies. Palin and Hillary are nothing alike. It’s almost an insult to compare them.

His main argument was that Obama is inexperienced which he has now made completely irrelevant by choosing Palin. She is an unknown former beauty pageant winner who has been Gov of Alaska (which has a population of about 6,000) for only 18 months! He can’t be serious. Obama has been campaigning longer than that! lol Palin and McCain don’t even have similar policies. His choice makes no sence. I guess all those “McCain - more of the same” ads from the dnc really got to him.

Hey now, let’s not jump on Mrs. Palin. Sure she is a tool used by the GOP to draw in women, but honestly, I admire her work ethic. She’s determined and strong. She’s not an evil Republican. She’s obviously tough, she was once a “hockey mom” with a beautiful family, and she cut ties with the corrupt officials in her party to do what was right. She seems energetic, and she’s definitely shaken up this election. And if you isolate her from this political situation, she is definitely an inspiration for women, as she is something different.

With that said, trust me when I say that Hillary Supporters, and women in general are not as simple-minded as the GOP are hoping them to be. To think that they’d actually flock to McCain just because he chose a woman as his VP? Its insulting. A hypocritical move. She has less experience than Barack Obama, therefore McCain can no longer use that argument. Alaska is not America and has different issues to deal with than the rest of the country.

Although this is a historical moment for the GOP whose issues I disagree with on so soo many levels, its obvious that McCain will lose, as the Obama-Biden ticket is way more experienced andthan McCain-Palin. Do we really want to leave our country to them? Are they even in the least bit impressive?

Besides, Ms. Alaska seems to be more interested in being just that, Ms. Alaska, taking care of her state and allowing it to grow.

Surprisingly, many of the GOP are actually pleased by his VP choice. I personally think Mitt Romney would’ve been a better option to gamble with, still I practically despise Romney. And its true, if Sarah Palin had been a man, she would NOT have been the GOP VP nominee. Never. For a women her accomplishments are great, b/c she took on a tough role in a world controlled by men. She is a conservative and fits their typical standard of what a conservative is. She’s pro-life, against gay marriage, and aligns with other conservative beliefs.

More people are infatuated with Obama than they are impressed with McCain. Look at Obama’s acceptance speech!? He drew in over 38 million viewers!!! And Joe Biden is just as much of an inspiration as he is.

Obama-Biden have this in the bag, hands down. McCain-Palin is not what this country needs.

McCain’s VP choice is final. And this is where people really are going to have to ask themselves if they’re really for Barack Obama, or McCain. Their VP choices justify their stances. Palin doesn’t have enough experience

Still, it would be an insult to Hillary if McCain won, and McCain ended up dying and this “hockey mom” who got into politics as a PTA member became President of the US. It would be the most far-fetched American story of all time.

Is it possible that Sarah Palin was the only person crazy enough to accept the offer to run for the Republican Vice President. How many of his friends turned him down? Seem like he was picking from the bottom of the barrel. Or is John McCain crazy enough to believe that women will vote for him just because he put a woman on his ticket. Women liked Hillary Clinton because she is smart, have political experience and a will to fight. Sarah Palin is pretty much unknown. And she is no Hillary Clinton.

HE IS PLAYING HER AND ALL OF THE DISMAYED HILLARY VOTERS!!!

VP is not an ARMPIECE but the person who will take command should something happen to the president - McCain is 72 by the way… This is proof that he cares more about winning the election than securing America’s future. Just like bush cared more about oil than the lives of our troops.

Republicans don’t give a damn!!!!! I’m sick of feeling like my country doesn’t care about me. That’s one of the reasons why I’m for Obama - I’ve never felt so connected before.

I agree with what has been said above, if she were a male she wouldn’t have been considered.

Makes me think if Hillary had won and not choosen Barack as VP, would he have launched a “Why Was Barack looked over” Campaign and picked a black male VP? REGARDLESS of experience or background.

This is deffinitely an insult to HRC supporters and America as a whole. WAKEUP McCain, politics have changed. This is not merely about race or gender. We are actually getting involved now-a-days, doing our research and listening to the debates. How dare you bash Obama time and again for being inexperienced and then pick someone from ALASKA (population of what? 5000?) who has been in office for a mere two years. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

McCain is playing the game of politics, picking Palin was a move on the chest board. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I’m tired of the games. I want CHANGE.

Mrs. Palian has an interesting story but they are using her to get women to vote for him. I understand the history behind her being chosen but it will not work. OBAMA 08

shes not PRO CHOICE
I mean its an insult to act this woman is some sort of replacement for hilary, the truth is Mcain was upset that the press was paying him NO attention, so the old man decided to pick some random woman from alaska, look im not trying to take anything away from her, but if mccain died, which is likey, what would this broad do? People are quick to say well Obama doesn’t have experience either but 18 million already voted and said their okay with that, but what about Palin?

@ 15….

condi would of been a good choice, as well as powell, if it’s wasn’t for these two things:

1. both of them are completely DONE with politics.

2. both of them are voting for obama

i have nothing against palin, but this is mccain’s 1st REAL test of presidential judgement, and he failed in my opinion. instead of doing whut obama has done and choosing someone that’s unquestionable of being able to take over the role of president as well as being the number one top advisor to his presidency, mccain chosen someone who just as recently as last month said that she’s no too sure whut a vice president does. and to make it worst, he only MET HER ONCE! it’s shows he purely wants to exploit the women vote and he shoots from the hip when it comes to decision making, because this was clearly a last second choice.

I think Republicans are doing what they have always done. Win the whitehouse by any means necessary. The difference is people are paying attention and their research. This was clearly a move of desparation. Which means he doesn’t think he has a snowballs chance in hell in winning this election. So what does he do, USE a woman. I am a woman and to me it’s a slap in the face because now he thinks we’re stupid. Pure manipulation. This isn’t about Sarah, this about undermining the GREAT AMERICAN PEOPLE.

As a Democrat I am excited. As an american citizen with the possibilty that this man could be our next president and leave our courtry exposed like this, I am outraged.

When I first heard about Palin as the pick, I thought I’d give her a chance…but no. As more and more news about her standings on the issues came out she just became increasingly repulsive (to me). Of all people to choose…what a cheap way to attempt to pick up the Hillary supporters. I pray those 18 million cracks in the wall stick to Obama.

Where do I begin…
- she’s completely against the pro-choice group
- lifetime with the NRA (that’s just my thing, I don’t go for guns at all)
- believes the Bible’s explanation for how the world was created should be taught in PUBLIC schools alongside evolution (what?? What happened to separation of church and state?)
- denies that mankind had a part in global warming (huh??)
- “opposes “so-called ‘consumer-driven’ health care, in which the government would eliminate the tax breaks companies get for offering health insurance (and thus your company’s financial incentive to pay for yours)”

Horrible, horrible choice…and I guess the GOP is right that these candidates will bring change…if Palin’s standings are any indication. Things will just swing ultra-conservative. Heh. Great.

McCain must think women are especially stupid or something. Just because a woman is on the ticket…DOESN’T mean this woman is worth voting for. She’s no Hillary, and never will be. She’s completely polar.

Obama should’ve really considered HIllary cause his numbers are not looking good right now. He should be way ahead of Mccain given all the issues that Americans are facing due to Bush.

Obama needs to go ahead and get his ace in the hole a.k.a. Oprah and let her help him out a little bit. Clinton, Mccain, nor Palin can generate the type of buzz she can.

Question

Saturday, August 30, 2008 /

I find it absolutely baffling that McCain has had only one brief meeting with Palin before choosing her as his running mate. This was clearly a last minute decision and a knee jerk reaction to the Obama attention from the night before. This is an irresponsible and reckless decision, he hardly even knows her. He’s selection shows me what type of president he will be, decisions will not be made with careful consideration and diplomacy but instead, quick gut reactions will lead the way. Listen, I’m not undermining Palin’s accomplishments, I congratulate her on her historic achievement. However McCain is simply using her as a chess pawn.

I also don’t agree with her policies and views:

1. She is pro-war.
2. She is opposed to reproductive rights for women.
3. She doesn’t believe in global warming.
4. She supports big oil and wherever they chose to drill.
5. She’s a lifetime member of the NRA.
6. She’s opposed a clean water initiative.
7. She sued the federal gov. for listing polar bears as an endangered species (why? cause you can’t drill for oil when animals are occupying the land) she’s against wildlife protection.

…It’s true they would’ve never selected her, if she were a man, it’s pretty insulting to think a position was given to you simply due to your gender…what a gimmick.

Anyone who says Palin has more experience than Obama is crazy. Sorry but just because she was mayor for a short time and governor for 18 months does not qualify her to possibly be commander in chief.

I wouldn’t trust her with foreign leaders or how to fix our economy. McCain is a hypocrite. At least Obama has been in and around the senate for several years. So what if she has executive experience and a journalism degree. That’s not going to help any when decisions have to be made about bringing our troops home safely and representing the concerns of over 300 million Americans.

First, I would like to bring the attention back to Barack Obama and the wonderful acceptance speech that he gave at the Mile High Stadium. Don’t be distracted people. Obama gave a wonderful speech and given his experience holding a public office as well as being a community organizer and being a professor of the constitution I am sure that he will do a wonderful job in the white house.

Secondly, Palin seems like she has her head on her shoulders. I am sure that she is a wonderful example of what women in politics can achieve. I am sure that there are many different reasons why McCain chose her. But is is obvious that the main reason that they chose her is because she is a woman. If it had not been for Hillary Clinton winning so many states in the primaries they would not have picked her. But I think that most former Hillary Clinton supporters will not support the McCain Palin ticket mostly because they don’t support our rights for equal pay and the right to choose. well McCain has picked a female v.p. because of a few reasons. One of those is because he knows that it will make history if Obama wins, and that if he were to have a fmale v.p. that would be history. He also wants to gain the support of the Hilary supporteres because he knows that some of them are still bitter and angry because Hillary didn’t win the democratic nomination.

Hopefully the support of Hilary behind Obama will keep her supporters on the democratic side. Also, it would make no sense for Hilary supporters to now support McCain only because he has picked a woman v.p. Hilary and Obama had a lot of the same ideas and views on things so if Hilary supporters do go over to the rupublican side for that simple reason that the v.p. will be a woman then that would be extremely idiotic and there will be no logic behind that because not only does this woman not have the same views as Hilary but she doesn’t have half the experience that Hilary has. I hope Hilary supporters realize this, and are not lured to the republicn side just because the v.p. is a female. I hope we all have a little more sense than that.

Yes, choosing Gov. Palin was risky. He’s fully aware of that, but to most Americans choosing Barrack as president is risky. Choosing her was calculated, dangerous and smart all at once.
Barrack made a ridiculous decision to pick Joe Biden. The man ran for president twice and only garnered 9000 votes this time around. Put that in contrast to Hillary’s 18 million. Also Biden said he’d gladly be John Mc Cain’s vice president. He’s just painfully aware his only means of getting into the white house is by riding someone’s coat-tail. And how hyporcitical is it to say you’re going to change washington with a 26 year senator who’s been in charge of the Foreign relations department(the same department who’s policies Obama disagrees on). It should have been Hillary out of respect to the 18 million voters and acknowledgement that she can win the states that win elections. And if not her a washington outsider like Ed Rendell, Tim Kaine or even Mayor Bloomberg.
Now Palin is not going to get every Hillary supporter. He just needs her to get a significant number. Which he very well could get. She’s inexperienced but so is Barrack. But she has executive experience. Now i don’t agree with Mc Cain’s policies but Amarica is a predominantlyconservative counrty. Why you think there’s only been one democrat in office in the last 20 years. People don’t just vote on policies they vote on emotion. And the idea of seeing a woman in the white house is just as inspring to some as seeng a black man. Now I don’t agree with alot of Barrack’s policies (large government leads to larger taxes, and often slower economy) but i’m voting for him. The very same thing can happen for Mc Cain.

But what if all of this was orchestrated by top intelligence to assure Obama’s presidency?

No person in their right mind would make a choice like this!

I agree with #37, it would be incredibly stupid for Hillary supporters to vote for McCain just because his VP is a woman. She is the EXACT OPPOSITE of Hilary, she stands for everything Hillary stands against. McCain is really insulting the intelligence of women if he thinks that they will support him just because he got a female running mate. Please, I see right through him.

I’ve been reading quite a few comments on McCain’s VP pick on a couple of boards and watching the news. The one comment I keep hearing is desperation. That McCain’s pick shows how desperate he is, but I’m having a hard time seeing desperation in his choice.

John McCain is a former POW, he’s been in politics for what…30, 40 years? He understands political strategy quite well. And say what you will about the Republicans…they know how to win campaigns. And that is what concerns me about McCain’s pick…why?

Why make a choice that is so obviously wrong and weak on so many levels? Why choose someone who completely negates your inexperience argument against Obama? Why pick someone with no foreign policy experience?

Either John McCain is just plain crazy or crazy like a fox. And that is what troubles me. I hope the Dems don’t let their guard down and keep fighting for the WH the next 66 days!!!

I think you guys are too quick to conclusion. Firstly, election of a presindent should not be based on color or gender but also on the your beliefs. In all honesty, we don’t want a society that is filled with immorals. That’s were my beliefs starts and it suppercedes everything else.

Vote

Not only are her extreme conservative views not in line with most of the country, but it appears that she has abused or misused her power almost from the start of having any elected power. Whether it be for the sordid “Troopergate” (for which she is still being investigated) or for inappropriately allowing her unelected husband access to confidential documents, information, and influence, or even for her botched purchase of land when she was mayor that has left that little town in terrible financial shape.

A couple of months ago she said she didn’t even know what a VP does day to day. Less than a year ago she admitted that she hadn’t even been following much what was going on in Iraq. You would think that a person who would potentially have to step in to become President in a time of potential crisis (the death or incapacitation of the elected President) would have at least have shown a history of interest and knowledge in the most important foreign matters of the USA. Not only has she shown a lack of interest, but she has no experience at all in dealing with it. This is a critical hole in her resume. A red flag so big it should have disqualified her from the start. Given another 12 months she might have had a chance to show that she understands the issues and what would be needed to handle them, but she does not have that time. And so here she is.

Barack Obama is the most thoroughly investigated, reported, and listened-to person in the ENTIRE WORLD for the past 9 months, and people STILL aren’t sure about him. And yet the American people are supposed to be reassured over Sarah Palin’s lack of qualifications in 2 months? Only if we enter some kind of bizarre Twilight Zone scenario.

This choice reflects very poorly on the judgement of John McCain. I am flabbergasted that he would make such a choice. If he wanted a woman there are more qualified women in the Republican Party. If the wanted someone who appeals to the conservative base there are more qualified Republicans who can do that. McCain may have just conclusively proven that he is not fit to be President.

I said it once & I’ll say it again..McCain’s VP pick..brilliant!

What most folks on this blog don’t understand is that, Republicans weren’t all united behind McCain because they felt he was too liberal. That’s why his pick of Palin was so brillant. This is woman is the epitome of traditional Republican values, which is what was needed in order 2 get support from Republicans that felt he was too liberal. Don’t let these blogs fool you, Republicans are welcoming Palin w/ open arms!

Obama created this mess he’s in now. After all his campaign did to destroy HRC, which created a lot of hate towards him from disgruntled women (and men), and then when he choose Biden over HRC? That was the final straw that broke the camels back!

Just like black ppl came out in record numbers to support Obama, I predict the same will happen for Palin.

Did ya hear Palin’s acceptance speech? LOl, when she was quoting Hillary about how 18 million cracks have shatter the glass & how this time she (Palin) would break it? LMAO..this chick is badddd..Obama needs an ace…quick!

#15: Palin supported Pat Buchanan??? Are you serious!! that says it all for me. Buchanan denies the Holocaust even happened among other racist ideas going on in that mans crazy head.

#55: If Palin breaks the glass ceiling, she will put a concrete ceiling in its place with her backwards views. The danger with this woman is that she has the extreme, far-right beliefs wrapped in a nice “hockey mom” package which will disarm a lot of people and make them think she is more benign than she really is.

A question for comment no. 5.First off all Republicans are evil!!! LOL Second when has a being a soccer mom, hockey mom or any other kind of mom prepared u for being the VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!!! This is a joke…he has basically alienated the antiquated republican voters who would’ve tried to cheat him into the White House. LOL. Listen i understand his logic, which is probably clouded by his failing senile brain but this was a bad choice….reallly bad. Im not a republican would never vote republican even if i was tortured and beaten to do so…but honestly this is laughable. If his old ass dies then suzie homemaker from ALASKA becomes president…really? Are u serious? SMH. Thank u personally Mr.McCain for handing Barak the White House seat, in a pretty white lady bow LMAO!!!

BECAUSE I SAID SO!

Saturday, August 30, 2008 /

If the gen X kids never ever had anything to use to justify their discontent - now they do. This makes a mockery of the political system…it’s obvious that McCain wants to win..to win at any cost. It’s ridiculous and obviously machiavellian and I can’t for the life of me understand how one rationalizes it as a logical decision. I think people who are less pessimistic are merely delusional…or maybe it’s so absurd that they want it to work just so their heads won’t blow off. Maybe it’s hard to accept that in light of a economy crisis and untenable war someone in McCain’s position (you know, old and not exactly healthy) would choose a fledgling small-town soccer mom with absolutely no qualifications.

61.

BECAUSE I SAID SO!

@Dem Tyson, clearly you are an Obama stan who looks up to him as if he was The Messiah.

In political races, NO ONEs hands are clean. Absolutely no one. See, what you just did was accuse Hillary Clinton of saying horrible things about Barack Obama. So obviously you missed Obama’s negative campaigning against her. You missed the lies he spread about her and NAFTA. You missed the race card that he played, YES HE PLAYED THE RACE CARD, that actually made Hillary and Bill Clinton look like racist, when they were clearly not. Obama is just as guilty as Hillary when it comes to negative campaigning. And the media DID kiss his a**. Luckily, neg. campaigning is the legacy of primary presidential elections. So get over it.

Americans are so ridiculous. Black people know that if Obama had not been running for President, they wouldve all been riding the Hillary Clinton bandwagon. So please save the b.s. You know u loved the Clintons in the 90s. Hillary wouldve won this ish.
Why are you acting like you didnt?

Black people are not voting for Obama just b/c he’s black. Although that’s part of it, and its okay, as long as you do your research and see where he stands on the issues. Black People vote for Obama b/c he’s black AND he’s a good man, as far as we can tell. And when I see Michelle Obama and their children, I know he is.

Obama DID NOT beat Hillary Clinton by a lanslide. They were neck and neck, with Hillary winning the popular vote. The Only reason why Barack won was b/c the DNC, Pelosi, Howard Dean, and other party officials were pressuring Superdelegates to vote for Obama. They controlled this whole primary election. And they’re all totally useless. They can’t even do their damn’ jobs in Congress.

63.

BECAUSE I SAID SO!

Saturday, August 30, 2008 /

*SIGH,*
McCain’s pick was ridiculous and it will be his undoing as women are INSULTED by the implication that any woman can serve as a replacement for Hillary. He will lose and horribly… All Obama has to do now is play up the fact that he chose Biden because he actually wants to change Washington and though an Obama/Hillary ticket would have meant 18 million more votes for him, Biden’s experience was in the end better suited to his goals/plans. I think many very logical conservatives even will eat this up…

Yall better look at the polls. Mccain is doing his thing right now. The future VP is the governer of a Major state. Look up her stats. Look at the start record. She doing her thing on government reform. You might know her because she doesn’t live to have her name in lights, but ask anybody in congress she is not the one to be played with. She did what Dems were afraid to do when they took over congress. and she is Pro Life. You should already know that Women over 40 and the faith base loving her. She is one of us. A mother who worked her way from the bottem to the top on her own meirts. She went to a regular school, and had regular life. When her state was going in a direction against the people she did something about it and not just complain like alot of us here. Dont count her out. She is what little girls should look up to, not beyonce or video models.

And @ 54 You defind this women who in my eyes far better the The Clinton lady as a Bit*h shows the hate that you have for women. We will never come together like that. If that what the passing out at Obama’s Table I’m glad I on the other side

Sarah Palin......You are no Hillary Clinton

Saturday, August 30, 2008 /

obama is up almost 10 pts. in the gallup poll (49-41)

EXECUTIVE experience means nothing in this election because neither presidential candidate has it…so Palin’s 1 yr and barely 7 months of it doesn’t really add anything…and let’s face it Alaska’s population is smaller than some cities in the 48 contiguous states

does she even know the constitution…(she has a bachelors degree in journalism)

let’s face it she doesn’t sure up the far right because they were going to vote for mccain anyway

Alaska has only 3 electoral votes and it always goes red so that doesn’t add anything anyway

Under ETHICS investigation for abuse of power for firing her safety commissioner cause he wouldn’t fire her ex brother in law ( abuse of power reminds me of bush)

With the chance that the president can possibly replace 1 or 2 justices in the supreme court if mccain is elected roe v. wade is toast

I seriously doubt hillary’s supporters will let her waltz in the white house on the coattails of all of her ( senator clinton’s) hard work.

One thing that I can say for Obama is He is doing the right by stay away from race. I am tried of these so call black leaders getting mad because he doesnt thank them at every turn. I was watch Tavis Smiley and it was to black Prefesser talking about how great his speech was but they should have been thanked along with Martin luther King. Yea they were at the civil rights head but lets not forget that is the Freedom Ride ( started by northern White College students) that was the start of Civil right as a National issue. The same ride that Martin Luther King and the (SCLC) did not want riding through their city. And let us not forget that Obama is not the desendant of slaves, but is from of a man born in one of the oldest nations in the world, a regal and prosperious people so it is in his blood to lead. ( still not voting for him. So I’m sure that he owes The Crew ( Dr. Cornel West and his buddies) Isnt this the samething they did to Colin Powell when he was elect to the # 2 spot in the us millitary. When we all know as a fact that Harry Truman paved that way

alright i’m an Obama supporter (mostly b/c i’m a democrat and support my party at all times) BUT i think you guys are being really harsh to Palin. to say she has NO qualifications is absurd because it’s not like Obama has tons of experience either. and from what i’ve heard she’s done a lot of good for alaska as #61 stated. and yes her being a woman did help her in the VP nom, but there are other women he could’ve chosen and he chose her so obviously she has something else aside from wearing a bra. that being said, i can’t stand this woman’s viewpts./policies and i hope that women do not fall for the ploy. there are a few disgruntled hilary supporters (that’s another thing, stop bashing hilary supporters b/c as disgruntled as they might be, you know most black ppl would have been MAD too if obama was in hilary’s position and would have reacted in exactly the same way) who may switch their vote. i heard one woman say she would. in general, most won’t because their views are just too different so i’m not really worried. i’m worried that they (some HRC supporters) WON’T vote. the republican party is definitely more united right now

hey smart people overturning roe v wade will not make abortion illegal. It will give states the right to ban abortion. the way it was before roe v wade. Four state had legal abortion. What it will do is force the world to see what most medical professional already know. Abortion is a major thing. It’s not just something you for you to do if you forgot to take your pill and got 4 hundred dollars laying around. There is no requirement to provide health irelated information. You have a harder time getting breast implants than an abortion. The two women behind the cases roe v wade and doe v bolton ( Norma L. McCorvey, and Sandra Cano met both these ladies very nice) admitted that the caes where presented under false pretences. Norma L. McCorvey was not raped and never had a abortion, Sandra Cano was told to get her kids out of foster care she had ( to get rid of the child she was carrying). Both women have since ask the courts to overturn their cases. So its bigger than the right to chose this is a women health care issue. Look up the Justice Foundation.

And before we get in to it’s a womens choice, look at it like this. It’s people choice to buy homes with price tags they cant afford with adjustable rate they know will go up, but we still expect the government to step in and make it right. Should we expect the government to at least take a look for the 1 million women who have appeared before the highest court in the land detailing the Physical and Mental injuries. Lest not forget over a 100,000 men who have come forward with issues in relation to abortion.

I am really surprised by John McCain’s pick and offended really! So he thinks that we as women are unable to look at the facts in front of us and make a sound decsion of who we will vote for and that we will vote based off of our emotion and vote for him because he has woman on his ticket? Shame on you Senator McCain..what a cheap shot. Frankly, I believe Govenor Palin is in experienced and is NO HILLARY CLINTON! What is Govenor Palin’s educational background, political strengths and has she ever been a staunch academian like Hillary? I believe the answer to that would be NO NO AND HELL NO!!!! Then on top of that I know the secret service does not feel like keeping up with all her damn kids…as a professional woman she should have known the unwritten rule is to stop at 2.5 kids!
