POLITICS: OBAMA HECKLED IN FLORIDA; LETS PROTESTORS ASK HIM QUESTIONS
Saturday, August 2, 2008
Three young African-American protestors, and two white women, interrupted Barack Obama at an economic town hall in Florida Friday, accusing the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee of neglecting the black community.
The protestors — who held a sign reading “What About the Black Community, Obama?” – said the Illinois senator had not been active enough on issues of interest to African-Americans, ranging from the impact of subprime mortgages to the shooting of Sean Bell and the government’s response to Hurricane Katrina.
Obama urged the audience – which began to boo the hecklers – to calm down, before addressing one of the men directly. “I think you’re misinformed. Everything you mentioned I did speak about,” he said, listing legislative initiatives and statements on those issues as the men continued to shout at him and the crowd began to chant “Yes, We Can,” the Obama campaign’s cheer.
Keep reading to see the video of the young man asking Sen. Barack Obama his questions and so on..

I think no one would understand the school vouchers situation unless they been in a predicament that they needed one. Because personally I remember when I was in high school my school did not offer anything much above the basics. It was an okay school and all but if you wanted to go to a great college and make your application look better you needed basically more then four or five (or at least ones you took all year) Advance placement courses. You know and these kids did come from poor circumstances but they got good grades and did want to go you know to one of the top ten schools. But honestly they knew their grades would not be looked at seriously because of the school they went to. Like I remember I had a 4.20 GPA and my counselor basically told me that honestly my 4.20 compared to a kid in a better private school was like a 3.5 to some of these colleges I wanted to go to like top ten schools.
And also I remember I took Spanish 1&2. So me and a few of my classmates wanted to take Spanish 3 but my principal said it was not enough students you know to get that class started. And even when we went back to him with more students he said no. Why, I do not know but I will never understand. But having friends who went to better schools they did have a lot of options regarding the classes they could take (especially advanced placement) so I mean that was one of the basic reasons a lot of kids felt that they did not have that many options or should I say resources. And you know for us we had to like try to take a college course while in high school because we did not have that resource at our school. But you know you can get through it you just have to know how to work through your problems and research and find out what other options you have. So that’s basically what I did.

I would like to ask those of you who are saying that “we don’t Have to support Obama just because he’s black” just exactly what are our options? More Republican “big business gets richer eveyone else gets fucked”? or just sit it out and dont participate at all, let them folks make the rules.
Nah! Obama happens to be black, but he also happens to be waaaaay better than any other options out there. We have had a Clinton or a Bush in the White house for the last 20 years. If they were gonna do something for us it would have been done by now.

I truly believe these guys attacked Obama in some sort which was rude as hell, however it might have been the only way they got his attention cause there is def issues that need to be addressed. Our black community has to think logically and understand he has to start at the root of the problem. This political shit is only gonna get worse.
Being dedicated to educating our black children for tomorrow and let them explore life out side the hood in my opinoin is the only solution to our issues. Sorry to say but we have no hope right now cause we have so much hatred built up in us and we can’t do nothing but hate each other cause we stuck in the hood. But like I stated before it all stems from something we have no control over it’s sad.

I am sick of all these black people saying that Obama is not speaking about them….wtf when he talks improving the ecomony he is talking about everyone INCLUDING US (according to a CNN report when there is a recession Blacks are the first one to feel it and lose jobs), if i was Obama I would of pulled a McCain and booted their asses out…..if they had a problem with him they should of waited until the Q and A session, if I was at a McCain town meeting I would of waited and asked him about wanting to reverse Roe vs. Wade (thus reversing women rights) or voting against equal pay for women to at the Q and A session instead of looking like a damn fool….but then again it had been reported that McCain is only taking in repubs to his meetings whatever, Obama was nice to them cause I would of thrown them out quick and without regrets

My 2 cents… the young men definitely gave Barack Obama some food for thought.
I think that he definitely handled it with class. But he now knows that he has more work to do.While we may not agree with the hecklers, trust that there are 1 million more in the US with the same views as them.
Injustice occurs everyday, and people are frustrated. It’s time for change.

The people who are complaining about Obama’s perceived lack of interest in issues concerning Black Americans make it seem like it’s so easy for a Black man to run for the highest office in the land, and because Obama has gained the support of many Whites, that he can say whatever he wants to about racism and injustice and White people will say, “Oh yeah, he’s right about that”. If it were that easy to be honest about these issues than Obama would not be the first Black man to have a real shot at the Presidency. The problem is that, as a mixed Black man, he’s trying to be all things to all people, he’s being pulled in so many directions where people want to know “whose side is he on, can we trust that he’ll look out for US?” I’m not saying that he’s perfect or that he always takes the best approach to a situation, but he is having to walk a very fine line in terms of how he approaches issues like the Sean Bell case, for fear of alienating one group or another. He can’t please everyone, and that’s something that he’ll have to learn deal with. But I believe that your characterization of his motivations is way off, I think he is more “pro Black” than the people who are criticizing him realize.
Regarding the group of young men who were heckling Obama, they should have chosen a better approach than heckling while others are speaking. And then when he tried to answer their question, they continued to yell back at him, they continued to shout back and interrupt, not giving him a chance to answer their question. In that situation, I would be thinking, “Do you want me to answer your question or not? If the answer is yes, then be quiet for one minute while I try to answer you.” This is not about criticizing Obama, just because his bid for the presidency is historic doesn’t mean that he’s exempt from any criticism, even by other Blacks. However, I believe that they could have waited until the “question and answer” portion of the town hall to voice their concerns, heckling wasn’t the best approach.
@ Ja:
Your support for Hillary Clinton in the primary and then your willingness to vote for John McCain in the general election seems a bit a$$ backwards IMO. By comparison, Obama and Clinton are almost identical when it comes to their positions on the issues. You may look at McCain and think, “well at least I know where he stands”, but if you know that his stances on the issues would not be the best for this country when you compare them with Obama’s positions, then why would you give your vote to McCain? McCain has sold his soul to the rightwing nutjobs in the Republican party, and that particular demographic could care less about minorities, and if McCain is elected his policies would do more to benefit them, not minorities and those who are struggling in our failing economy. He used to me more of a moderate, but because he has done a complete 180 on almost all of his positions because he wants to be President, I can’t tell whether he’s a Democrat or a Republican most of the time, so I personally don’t trust McCain at all.

I do NOT want Hillary Clinton to be Obama’s VP running mate, and I hope that he is able to choose someone else without the continued pressure from Hillary’s supporters and donors. She ran a divisive campaign based on Republican-lite fear mongering tactics. I don’t care how many years of experiences she claims to have. Obama needs a running mate who 1) can help him gain support in the demographics that he is having the most difficulty reaching out to 2) someone who genuinely supports his candidacy and wants to work with him as Vice President, rather than try to take over because she feels that she was entitled to the Presidency, and I believe that she and Bill Clinton would be guilty of that. His best choice for a VP, in my opinion, would be a White male with a working-class background and national security credentials, because I believe that will be the biggest concern for voters when they vote on Election Day.

I voted for Hillary Clinton. I must admit, as a African American in college, I have several issues with Obama. I will also agree that there are some things I do admire about him. But the fact of the matter is, he painted Hillary to be a flip-flopper, supporter of the war and a traditional Washington politican. By doing this along with spreading his message of HOPE, Obama won the Democratic Nomination. However, since defeating Clinton, he has flipped-flopped on almost everything. Public Funding, supporting the surge in Iraq, Energy, D.C. Gun Ban and participating in town hall meeting with McCain. As a Hillary supporter, I dont want to vote for McCain and I dont want to give away my vote to Obama. He needs to stick to what he really BELIEVES. He stutters soo much and it makes me nervous. Im anticipating the announcement of his VP as well. As a Black man, I have never been so interested in politics and I must say, Obama, Clinton, McCain and Huckabee all inspired this country this election season.

Even as an Obama supporter since 2004, I was not mad at these young men who had took a stance! It is nothing wrong for them to voice their opinion, in fact, it shows and proves that Black are not one-dimensional as others like to state! White people protest other white people all the time, no one says that White people are bringing each other down, so we should not say this about these young men! I think it is important for things like this to occur during Obama’s campaign, to challenge him! Yes I do believe “we can”, but we can’t move forward unless we understand the challenges that face the steps we make.

To #34, so you say your heart is fixed on Obama but not your mind. Okay… I understand but understand this: McCain is a supporter of Giuliani’s tactics (the same person who permitted violent tactics against non-white suspects) and anti-affirmative action policies. McCain sugarcoats the fact that many A.A.s in the military aren’t holding office by calling the army “the best equal opportunity employer in the county.” He also critized Obama for the whole school vocher thing BUT he didn’t guarantee all low-income families will have a chance for a voucher. ALSO what good will SOME vouches do if the WHOLE public school system isn’t reformed. Be serious and actually THINK. The whole public school system (especially in low income neighborhoods) need reform, so taking SOME kids out isn’t going to do the job. So basically you feel its okay for a million kids to have a chance while MILLIONS of kids are left out? Great logic there! Also McCain is a well known bigot. HE started mentioning the race card before Obama by implying Obama was referring to his ETHNICITY (I’m getting SICK and tired of everyone on here using the word “race” inappropriately… GO BACK TO BIOLOGY CLASS and actually pay attention) without actual confirmation this theory was right. He also disregards the rights of the GLBT community. So you feel its okay to support a man who treats a group of HUMANS inhumanly? Also you mentioned he supports offshore drilling. So you support a man who wants to further risk the welfare of the EARTH for a instant fix for problems WE started? Just like a lazy ass american… always looking for a short cut. There is NOTHING positive about offshore drilling… its instant gratification at its best and we have a whole GENERATION (and others) to think of, jerk. Bush and even Clinton had the opportunity to invest in alternative fuels and neither did a good job (while Bush did absolutely NOTHING as will McCain because HE DOESN’T SUPPORT THEM). So please just shut the hell up and reap the consequences YOUR POLITICIANS sowed. Instead of doing research on Obama, how about you do research on BOTH candidates. Your post implies you haven’t done your full homework but instead focused on the issues that only affect you. I can’t believe you would be so blinded by BS to even be on the fence. That’s an insult to true Obama supporters like me… seriously.

Also to all the ppl talking about private school being better than public… guess what, its not. First off colleges appreciate kids who have good grades PERIOD along w/ extracurricular activities. Secondly to #76, while you were misinformed. Some colleges look at a high ranking public school because public schools have more diversity than private schools. So what your counselor said was BS depending on the school you apply to. From personal experience, I was accepted to top schools and I went to a decently successful PUBLIC school. When you encourage your child to send essays, be active in school AND their community and meet school Deans (like my mom)… it shows character and that trumps most requirements depending on the admissions board. How do I know all this… because I know ppl on boards from VARIOUS universities along w/ working for one at my old school. So yes.. I know first hand the steam behind the machine. SO don’t exclude the fact that some parents aren’t there to do their job and some kids don’t care which makes the school look bad (in grades and test scores) and the horrible policies of some public schools make it look even worst. If you wanna do something about the school system, a damn voucher is NOT the answer. Reform starts at home so go to your local school board and start doing something and MAYBE it will spread nationally if we join together instead of thinking a voucher will do the job for you. Seriously… what the hell do you expect from public schools when we live in a society that allows teachers to get paid SCAPS while no-talent jackasses get paid MILLIONS (jackasses who also don’t put ANY of that money back into their communities). Brad Brit just sold his twin baby pics for MILLIONS are dollars and ya’ll have the audacity to bitch about a damn voucher???? If you’re going to bitch, bitch about how to change the F’ed up societal norms we allow to happen daily or shut the hell up….

Oh and to add very good points. But you went to a great public school mines was not that great so I had to take extra steps like you were explaining and more to get where I wanted to be which is cool because you have to work hard to get where you are going in life. But I think my counselor at that time said that because in a lot of schools that are not achieving that high in academics some people feel as though the teachers are just letting students get by so I think she was saying getting a 4.2 at that school may not have been seen as a accomplishment to some because you know they may feel as though being at that type of school you may have not worked as hard as another student at a better school for the same GPA and all. So maybe that is what she was saying.
But you know in the end I am where I wanted to be. But I was stating how hard it was for me personally. I do not know the story of every child in public school. But fortunately I made it so I can come back and help others. That’s all I care about.

for starters, obama’s team outsmarted and defeated whut people argued the most powerful political team/ family which is the clintons…most, but as for smearing hillary, there’s no true evidence on obama’s part, however the dumb moves mark penn have done, the media’s exploitation toward’s hillary, and hillary actually BLATANTLY lying about the bosnia trip and lets not even mention bill clinton were mainly at fault…
now to give you up to date with obama so-called flip-flopping…the only two things obama switched up on was A) public fiancing, which he pretty much HAD to in order to financially compete against the republican smear machine which is currently going full-speed ahead, and B) on the FISA bill which is a legitimate beef to complain about, but he at least had the respect to send a letter to all of his supporters explaining his position thouroughly, accept their dismay, and said these are one of the things that people are going to agree to disagree on…and kept it real that not everything he’s going to do, he’s going to get 100% support for, no matter which way he makes his decisions…
as for everything else, he’s been CONSISTENT, the differences is that some things during the primaries were more focused than they are in the general and vice vera…during the primaries he was onlu speaking for DEMOCRATS needs, now that’s he’s in the general he have to speak on EVERYBODY’S needs…but every charge you will claim he flip-flopped on, i PROMISE you i can get a link or a youtube clip stating he’s been consistent…
as for mccain, i ORIGINALLY had no qualms with him, but once he turned his back on waterboarding back in the primaries…i realized his camapaign is suspect, and now the things that his campaign is doing is totally pathetic, because they completely STOPPED on speaking about the issues and whut mccain is going to do for our country and is going off a 100% obama tirade about his character…it’s okay to have a negative campaign, but if you lack anything POSITIVE to speak about yourself as the comparison, then you truely have no offer to give

I understand that Obama needs to meet the needs of every US citizen. I always felt like that was a president’s responsibility anyway. However, the African-American community, which includes those of us out there doing the right thing wit our lives and our children lives, have always been underserved. I know he have to appear impartial in order to win, but he can not keep skipping around issues that impact minorities. We’re the last hired and the first fired, our schools are in shambles, our communities are in shambles, there is a dispropotioned rate of us getting accepted into grad schools and that includes those who busted their ass in undergrad, There’s a disproportioned rate of us getting hired into the private sector, whites get insurance policies for 3 x the amount than we can get insurance policies, banks don’t loan us money for small businesses nearly at the rate that they loan other groups of ppl, and the list goes on. All Im asking for is a even playing field and if he is going to be fair and square then he need to develop some action plans that fulfill the stance that he is taking in his campaign speeches.
Shame on the person saying that “if only we work hard enough and stop looking for handouts”. Puleaze, there’s ppl who worked hard all their life and still have to slay dragons everyday. What la la land ur ass living in. The system is not designed for ppl to “work hard and get fairly rewarded.” Notice I said “fairly rewarded”. You probably on somebody job kissing ass just to get what’s owed to u anyway.
Personally, I’m tired of hearing him and McCain fuss over who is cuter or more popular. I’m not taking anything from the brother. It’s nice to see him doing his thing and representing our race well, but many of us do that on the daily basis too. Someone mentioned militants. If it wasn’t for militants then ur ass wouldn’t even be able to do half of the things u do today as a black person. So please don’t talk out the side of ur mouth. Somebody had to stand up so ur black ass could sit down. If that makes them a militant then so be it. You not saying nothing with Bush Neo Republican ass running this country. Yes, he is a neo republican and they do exist-very extreme and very blantantly racist and economically discriminatory. The sad thing is that everyone in the House and Senate has either been paid to play along or threatened.
Just becuz Obama is black does not mean that Im goin to vote for him. If he can be impartial then so can I. As far as Im concerned I might vote undecided like I did in the primaries. They both are boring me to tears with the gammut that they’re running. They both in the same elite club together but the faux republican and democratic party crap is supposed to make us think otherwise. This is all propoganda to keep ppl from burning the country down. Throw a black man in the mix to give ppl hope yada yada yada. All Im saying is Im not asleep. I’m wide awake. I wouldn’t be surprised if McCain win just like Bush ass won when he was actually losing. I woke up and his ass is still in office. I never went to sleep again after that. Puleaze don’t believe the hype with of this communist country dressed in a democracy costume.

I think some blacks want people to recognize, that MAYBE he’s just another man in a suit with empty promised. The imagery of a black man in power will be great, but if its only an image, then don’t expect the world to change for black folks. Its up to us to make a stand. They have a right to free speach, and they exercised what they believe to be right. More power to them. You know…Obama can’t win for losing…he’s trying to address issues that affect everyone…but if he caters to only issues that affect African-Americans there’s no way he would be our next president…there’s not enough of us to put him in office with our vote alone…nor are their enough of us registered to vote. Some want to get upset when Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson are “attempting to be the voice for the black community” and the same people get upset when Obama is “not the voice for the black community”. I understand that just because you’re black doesn’t mean you have to be an Obama supporter…but please don’t expect this man to only address the issues that affect us…even if you feel that’s whats been happening for years by the government…like Obama said…it’s time for a change and that was for all Americans.

Anybody listen to the Rickey Smiley Morning Show on Friday?? He spoke about this and I agree with him and most of you. Obama is trying to reach a nation of different ethinic groups and it would be wrong of him to soley concentrate on the issues of the black community. I’m an a african-american woman and I know that every race has issues that need to be addressed. I believe he handled the situation well. He could have easily stepped out of character and took a different direction when answering the question but he was very respect and honest about it.

Without questioning the motives of the gentlemen who stood up in protest, because they had every right to express their concern–as this was a town hall meeting– Senator Obama handled this with pure class. He addressed them with respect and answered their concerns fully, without alienating the needs of his supporters of other races. Although I wish–in a perfect world–that Black people would stop trying to tear each other down and seek to find understanding and support, I have to realize that it’s not a perfect world, so the next best thing is to learn how to educate in hopes of changing minds and perceptions. Senator Obama did a great job of that, without giving an answer full of political rhetoric.

This is why I admire this man so much, he politely and calmly put that young fool in his place..that young man did not even know what he was talking about, he did not even do his research, and because of that Obama shut his ass down with the quickness, but like a “gentlemen”…did I say how much I love this Man, he is the ultimate..so classy, brilliant, and sophisticated…what he was trying to do is teach the young man some manners..obviously something his Mama was not succesful at! Obama cannot become the next leader of our free world by just concetrating on saving “Black” folk, the United States of America encompasses and includes “all races” not just black folk, we have to make more of an effort to save ourselves…if he gets elected, he will not be elected to specifically be the saviour of “black folk” we really need to understand this fact, if he would have came at everyone with a militant attitude, there is no way he would have gotten this far…it is not that hard to understand….

Are some of you aware of the many ways in which the Republicans are trying to smear Obama’s character? He’s been called everything from a Black Militant to a Muslim terrorist to the anti-Christ. I’d like to see you deal with that on top of having to court all the different ethnic groups that exist in our country to the point that every one of them is convinced that he will look out for their interests. I know, it sounds easy, but it’s actually damn near impossible. But I believe he is a more “conscious” Black person than the people who are criticizing him realize, he knows the history of Black Americans in this country and he knows the struggles and injustices that Black people continue to deal with, and he wants to make a difference.
What do you want him to say? That racism, oppression and exploitation against Black people throughout this nation’s history by the majority group has led to the many problems that exist in the Black community? Who is the majority group? Who has held the majority of the wealth and power in this country? WHITE PEOPLE! They are watching him very closely to see “whose side is he REALLY on?”, and their support will mean the difference between winning the election and having the opportunity to do what he can to address issues concerning Black Americans and problems that all Americans are facing, and not having that opportunity. Politics is a game, if you know that you aren’t one of the “deadbeat fathers” that he’s referring to in the Black community, then relax. Black people possessing any significant amount of power in this country is something that many White people fear, whether they’ll admit to it or not. Obama understands this I believe, and that is why he’s approaching the situation the way he has. If he says, I’m going to do this, this, and that for Black people, consider the election done, with McCain as the winner.

So, don’t start with the “oh…black folx only care about x,y,z…” Not to mention I (and many other black people that I know) are watching the National Urban League right now on CSPAN.. McCain finished up & Obama is about to speak actually.
Now…about the topic at hand. The protester has valid points however,….I do recall Obama speaking about all of these issues…some of them multiple times. The media just did not PICK UP on them. The media did not feel that those issues were important enough to be broadcasted so, it leaves us with the impression that he never talked about them…which isn’t true.
Another thing, the Black Vote alone will not get Obama in office. He needs as many votes from ALL AMERICANS to get into the white house. And yes, we do have issues that are more specific to us and hurts us the most HOWEVER, we also face the same mainstream issues as everyone else and we need to support this man and his ideas to really get universal health care coverage, decrease dependence on gas, and bring our troops home. I am not saying to never challenge him but make sure you are not that, “crab.”

Point blank, we need to get him in the Whitehouse first. Once he’s in, then we can start picking apart the focus of his policies. I wish these dumb a** ni**as would sit down. Come on people, let’s get him in first. There’s absolutely no way he can win by focusing on black issues. Just ask Jesse about that!!!

Barack Obama 08 !!
McCain is campaigning out of desperation. He said in the beginning that he would not have a negative campaign, now that’s all his campaign is about, attacking Obama. He is doing the same thing that Hillary did, a lot of mud slinging. The Republicans feel the only way they might have a chance to win is by smearing Obama, instead of sticking to their political platform. Do not fall for these cheap tactics. VOTE BARACK OBAMA THIS NOVEMBER FOR PRESIDENT, VOTE FOR CHANGE!! REGISTER TO VOTE NOW IF NOT REGISTERED!!

Sometimes. Just sometimes. Black people can suffer from having a small idea of who they really are. We are more than victims and I’m tired of that being the expectation for us. *Cough* “Black in America” *Cough*. I hurt for my people because we really expect more from Obama than we expect from ourselves.
What ever happened to excellence? Jay-Z and Nas are excellent, Oprah is excellent, and countless other examples of Black people who are global inspirations. Obama leads by example and that should be enough for that young black man. He is an educated, respectful, well spoken, committed and loyal husband who is married to an equally beautiful, smart and educated black wife. Obama serves America; not Black America.

I have mixed feelings about this video, first I was wondering did someone put these guys up to this, but I too had wondered why Barack had not spoke out against these issues as well as several others, until I read some of the comments posted here.
I feel that Barack is finding him self in a situation where he is going have to decide between being black or pleasing this country….SAD!

Has anyone considered the idea that it could be a clever staging to win the sympathy white vote?
Here he is a half white/ half black male trying to appeal to everyone. Why not display that even some of his ‘own’ (since he is viewed as a black man) are also against him. He handled it very well and I have seen him in impronto situations where he fumbled and didn’t state his point quite so eloquently and in that self assured manner.
Furthermore, it worked with the Jesse comment and drew him more favor and we know Jesse didn’t stage that slip.
I am all for Obama and he got my vote in the primaries, but I am also very aware that’s he politician who’s out to win.

The Black man asked a valid question, but he went about it the wrong way. He only gives these racist news pundits and uncle tom negroes, more negative things to say about Obama. So in essence, he didn’t help the cause. Even though I am a huge supporter of Obama I sometimes find myself double guessing him because I express the same concerns, at times. But that doesn’t mean that I would vote for somebody else. My vote is locked up for Obama for president.
Then again we have to realize that Obama has to ride the line, he cannot be too much for one set of issues. He has to present himself as a people candidate. If he leans towards black people too much, he is going to be deemed too black and if he diverts his attention to other issues, he risks being polarizing to the black community. So it is a catch 22 as far as Obama is concerned. We just have to put him in the white house and then judge his action from there on.

The brother asked a valid question, but he just went about it the wrong way. What he has done now is give these racist pundits and Uncle Tom Negroes, more negative things to say about Obama. I am a big supporter of Obama and I sometimes find myself expressing these same sentiments. Why isn’t he more on the issues of exploitation of the Black community. But then I realize this is America and he has to run as a people candidate. If he leans too much towards black issues, he will be deemed too black and iff he diverts from black issues, he risks being a polarizing figure in the black community. So it is a catch 22 and he has to be smart about it. So to my brother who was at the town hall, we understand your concerns, but we have to elect the brother and then we can gve him our final grade.

First off, I have never been a Dem. I have always been Republican. My first choice was Rudy because I am anti-crime. What ever you issue crime is never the answer. Lastly, Mcain has America at heart. All of America. I respect him for his simple campaign. It’s about the people and what we want. Now dont get me wrong because i know he is running for office and some of his stances on issues reflect that. But he is smart enough to get out there and get the information to make informed stances. Obama who on most issue say what he think the people want to hear then does his research on the issue. I believe that Mccain is the answer. You may believe Obama is the answer. Who ever has the most people that agree with them will win. That’s what america is all about. Who ever wins means that the majority of the country Wanted that person. Plenty of black people voted for Bush ( I was one). And not mad that did. so as far as issues go, Obama has nothing for me I dont believe in Universial heath care. I dont believe in Iraq timetable( been there twice) I believe ROE V WADE needs to be reviewed to take in account the health risk of abortion as more information on the issues comes to light. The only thing we have in coming is that we are American. And I’m sorry but it’s not enough for me to jump on the ban wagon

Obama claims he supports affirmative action for the children of slaves, but will he put TEETH into his beliefs by giving tax breaks to companies that hire, retain, and promote black descendants of slaves??? There are TONS of qualified EDUCATED unemployed black people displaced by UNQUALIFIED foreign workers who barely speak english, so the blacks need education lie needs to stop NOW!
Hispanics are SEVERELY uneducated but that doesn’t stop them from getting jobs. Not even their illegal alien status stops them from getting jobs.
Why does Barack support relieving irresponsible caribbeans, and africans of their huge billion dollar debts, but not willing to give the children of slaves reparations to compensate for the U.S. govt flip flop on our 40 acres and a mule, which would have allowed us full recovery from slavery?
Is Barack one of the supporters of reparations for South African blacks who were not nearly as robbed as Black america by U.S. corporations? Even Jamaicans are asking for reparations. Does he support them putting added burdens on U.S. companies eventhough they are not U.S. citizens?
Why does Barack have no plan to lift our boys out of the ghetto. Bill Cosby, Oprah Winfrey, and all the rest came from the ghetto. Will he do what the Clintons did to lift blacks out of poverty?
Will Barack call on the entire U.S. community to HIV test, and to be guinea pigs for toxic HIV meds, OR will he continue to allow only black americans to carry the brunt of this burden?
Will Barack continue the thrust to lock up and enslave black boys by the unjust criminal justice system, OR will he see to it they have something to do other than sell drugs? Will he appoint liberal QUALIFIED judges or just appoint his UNQUALIFIED cronies?
Will Barack force HUD to seriously address growing housing discrimination complaints by levying severe fines and penalties, OR will he continue to allow whites to polarize the country?
Will Barack address the “no child left behind” that is causing evildoers in the teaching profession to harrass and force out black boys who they think will affect the school’s test scores?
Will Barack make a strong stand for injustice and call for an end to discrimination as the Clinton’s tried hard to do???
Will Barack levy stiffer penalities for job discrimination for black american workers? He says he has a plan to end discrimination for gays. How about for black americans. What are his plans?
Jim Crow is fast returning in the South with the raising of confederate flags as a symbol of this intent. What will Barack do to prosecute white gangs and militia organizations who terrorize and threaten the security of black americans?

No Americans need apply: something for everyone - affirmative action
National Review, Nov 6, 1995 by James S. Robb
Mr. Robb is senior analyst of The Social Contract and author of the study, Affirmative Action for Immigrants: The Entitlement Nobody Wanted.
WHAT liberals wishing to save the affirmative-action system did not need was the growing realization that some of the biggest winners in race-preference schemes are not Americans at all. Consider: The prestigious University of Texas Law School maintains a minority set-aside admissions program for blacks and what it terms “Mexican- Americans.” However, because the school does not inquire about citizenship, “Mexican-American” in reality means anyone of Mexican heritage who is not in the U.S. illegally. “There’s no philosophical objection” to foreign nationals receiving the preference, said Stanley Johnson, who heads the schools’ admission committee.
As unlikely as it may sound, millions of immigrants and foreign visitors are eligible for — and many are actually using — affirmative-action benefits to get a head-start on U.S.-born minorities, not to mention white Americans. In effect, they are getting off the plane and moving right to the head of the line.
How is this possible? In the late 1960s, it simply never occurred to government planners that there would be so many aliens in the U.S. or that so many would be considered minorities.
The results can be startling. Take, for example, a company that has a goal to hire ten blacks. Nothing says these have to be African Americans, and they well may not be. All ten may be people who until now spent their entire lives in another country.
Whatever the long-term fate of affirmative action, Congress and the Administration should act now to put a stop to this bizarre extension of the program. A mere paragraph or two of legislation and a short executive order could end affirmative action for immigrants — the entitlement nobody planned and hardly anyone wants.
WILL BARACK ISSUE THE EXECUTIVE ORDER NEEDED TO REVERSE THIS TRAVESITY OF JUSTICE?

The VAST MAJORITY of black people don’t even vote in primaries, but we DO VOTE in the national elections, and IF BARACK DOESN’T STEP UP AND ADDRESS OUR ISSUES WITH REAL CONCRETE PLANS AND RESOLUTIONS, all those black votes he THOUGHT he had are going to evaporate. Florida Restores Rights to 115,000 Ex-Felons
Wednesday, June 18, 2008 1:03 PM
By: Rick Pedraza Article Font Size
A new state rule in Florida calls for more than 115,000 former felons who complete their sentences to be given back their civil rights, including the right to vote, hold public office, serve on a jury, and obtain state and local licenses for certain types of work.
The rule by the state’s Board of Executive Clemency ends a policy that, until now, required a panel to act individually on every restoration of rights requests.
Florida Governor Charlie Crist – attending a two-day summit of state officials, lawmakers, community activists, prison ministers and others brainstorming ideas for keeping former inmates from returning to crime after they are freed – says the decision to restore civil rights to ex-felons is based on fairness and being a part of a democratic society.
“Once somebody has truly paid their debt to society, we should recognize it,” explains Crist, a Republican who had initially pushed for a broader clemency program.
“We should welcome them back into society and give them that second chance,” he told a crowd of law enforcement officials and advocates for prisoners’ rights in Tallahassee. “Who doesn’t deserve a second chance?”
REPUBLICANS ARE DOING MORE FOR BLACKS THAN BARACK OBAMA. ALL THESE PEOPLE WILL VOTE REPUBLICAN.

First of all, his platform is not against legal immagrants who enter the country correctly. He and I share the idea that we need to take care of Americans first and wheather you were born here or got your papers thats you . I believe in Basic Human Rights, but at the sametime we have to protect our borders. so if you are here legally paying taxes like a American then fine. But if you are here to rape the resources than I have have problem with that. So like I said He is for ALL AMERICANS. I’m not telling anyone here to vote for McCain. He might not have the same views as you do. I believe the Mccain and I are on the same page as well as Bush and I were. But we all need to make educated choice when it comes to who we want as President, and not just say “why not he’s black” . Because I can tell no matter what Obama or anyone running for that matter says now, it’s all about what the majority want.

Obama is tooooo classy. If this were Bush or McCain it would have been “DON’T TASE ME BRO!!!!” all over again. I am very proud of that man. He is literally risking his life for the prospect of change in the world. He doesn’t claim to be the best or the most knowledgeable but he is willing to try his hand and do what most black people are afraid to do. We all know of the stigma that comes along with our images of a black president…. he gets killed or the world ends under his term (Ya’ll have seen those movies and shows.. whenever the world is ending or in turmoil, there just happens to be a black president ..Fifth Element, 24, Deep Impact). It is just drilled into our heads that way and for this man to step out on faith and take the risk is already enough for my vote. He got it in the primary and he will get my vote in November. Even if you wanted to vote for him just to show your kids the possibility of them becoming president that is good enough reason. To vote for McCain would be detrimental to this country. Please black people don’t cut off your nose to spite your own face.

In addition to you education statement. The Federal governmant AKA Dept of ED/NCLB pays about 1% of any schools district’s total buget. The county and city are resposible for funding educations. Fact. Now the school voucher which I am for will not begain to touch the cost of private education but it in some relief for parents who take a greater intrest in there chlids education. not to mention that you are still require to pay property tax in your county which is the major source of funding for schools in your area. every area has a mayor or school board that oversee how monies are spent toward each school they are over. I suggest that more people spent time at the city council meetings or school board meeting to find out what is going on instead of compaining and doing nothing. Obama cant fix it niether can maccain, it is a state issue. and it needs to stay that way

If you read my other post you’d see that I indicated that I was actually addressing Mrs. Not Me instead, that was my mistake. It’s interesting that you supported Giuliani because he is “anti-crime”. As a person of color, I am saddened to know that you supported him. Do you know how many cases of police brutality occurred against Blacks while he was mayor of NYC, and he did absolutely nothing about it? He always took the side of the police, even in the case in which a Black man named Abner Louima was sodomized by NYC police officers after they took him into custody, and now the man suffers permanent damage to his internal organs.
The only “America” that McCain has at heart is the America that consists of White Americans, wealthy White Americans. McCain is about war, that’s all he knows. And he has sold his soul to the right of the Republican party, if he is elected he will not be the more moderate politician the he used to be, he has flip flopped on practically every issue and everything that he USED to stand for. I am a supporter of universal health care, I am pro-choice and I do believe that we need a timetable for when we’re going get out of Iraq because we shouldn’t have been there in the first place, there was no urgency for us to be there, we should have been focusing on Afghanistan and the threat that Iran poses to us and the rest of the world. I am sorry but I have to address Andy.
You are definitely misinformed sir. You said something to the effect of why should Barack help irresponsible Caribbean countries. Well, sir first you need to do your research and stop regurgitating what some idiot told you and in so displaying your ignorance for the world to see. I can only speak for Jamaica because I know all the intricacies of Jamaica’s plight. Jamaica is in the state that it in because of the exploitation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF)
After Jamaica gained its independence from the British in 1962, which in my mind they shouldn’t have, because they did not have the proper infrastructure as a county to stand on its own; its equivalent to putting a 6 year old on the street to fend for him or herself, it’s a disaster waiting to happen. And the disaster did happen. Now with these looming perilous conditions the Prime Minister went to the IMF to borrow money $50 million at the time. The loan’s terms and conditions crippled the country because it stipulated restrictions on the Jamaican government as far as schools, high interest rate which the government had to pass on to its people, to farmers. Now the farmers had to hike up their prices to see a return, which local folk couldn’t’ afford. Then the Jamaican government had to import these processed foods from the US. For example milk was so expensive Jamaicans were forced to purchase the imported carnation milk…yes, powdered milk. Then before you know it, the Jamaican population is poverty stricken and anywhere there is poverty there is going to be criminal activities. Even furniture maker commanded one of Jamaica’s few growth industries has to turn to making coffins, cashing in on the violence which foments beneath a thickening pall of poverty and gloom.

I notice that this devil Obama stutters obsessively when he is cornered. The only thing that he could do is regurgitate the obtuse political responses he had when these previous issues occurred in the black community. All his stances are purposefully non-committal because he is non-committal. His attempts at answers were indicative of a man that has no real answers. “Dont vote for me”, lol. That was his way of saying, “Ni**er, I don’t need your vote because the white jews have picked me already.”. My only problem with the brothers that attempted to confront him is that if you are truly for the black community, you shouldn’t be at Obama’s rally or any political rally whatsoever. Politics is for the simple-minded negro. As a matter of fact, politics is for the simple-minded person because even the caucasians can see that their own system is a smokescreen. Obama has more than enough stupid blacks on his side that if you are for your people, you can attack the issues in the black community from another angle. When you watch these clips of these Obama rallies, and you’re paying attention, you really have to be in awe of the media machine and how it can literally create and destroy notable figures. The way the people in the crowd started chanting “Yes We Can” in unison is classic mind-control, cult phenomena.
Based on the comments, I watched the clip expecting to see Obama rip the brother to shreds. All this dude did was stutter like Porky Pig because he was shocked that a strong black male snuck into his rally and had the nerve to confront him on his b.s.

Judah, brother…
You know if you should take a step back and do a complete analysis of yourself you’ll see that you are suffering from the Willie Lynch syndrome. Brother everyone knows that as a people we are within our rights and with justification when we express doubts concerning the white man politics as mean to bring honor to our people. But your diatribes towards Obama, a black man, have been noticeably more callous than that of McSame. You would rather tear down your won rather than build it up. And I know your argument will be, well Obama is upholding the same political system that has robbed Black people of their human rights. Well, brother, you live in the country ( I assume you live in the US) that his system has build and runs on, but I believe we are in the process of infiltrating that system and revamping it, hence leveling the playing field for our people. You need to get on board, brother because we need your vote.

@Dukesman
Brother, if you stepped back and took a look at yourself and your views, you would see that you are double-minded and your opinions are based from a platform of falsehoods (James 1:8). Let’s establish one thing; the Lord and his truth comes first, which means that it supercedes any prescribed affiliations. I don’t have to support Obama because you believe that he is a black man. I address him and what he claims to stand for because he is being used to confound black people, such as yourself, yet again. McCain is irrelevant to me because a negro would have to be extremely cooned out to align themself with him. In other words, the only magician worth exposing is the one who’s magic looks real.
The “Willie Lynch” syndrome is based on a system allegedly designed by a white slave master to hold down black people and create confusion within our race. Confusion is predicated off of misdirection, and in the history of the planet earth, there is no precedent for an oppressed race of people receiving their freedom through the system of their oppressor. In other words, if you believe in racial unity as a method of salvation for our people, you are an adherent of a doctrine of confusion and thusly you are “Lynched”. This is the point of the genesis of the Obama phenomenon. It’s a step up from Kerry and two steps up form Gore, with the sole intent of getting blacks to put their hope and energy in a system which was designed to use them, not empower them.
Now you want Obama, a man who’s platform is to “bring everyone together”, in office because you believe that he will create “change”. If you are a “separatist” as you’ve claimed, why would you vote for this man? If you are “for black people”, why would you care for politics? What are the chances of all black people coming together? Multiply that by infinity and those are the chances of all races coming together. There is a place for politics and the political negro because all the world’s a stage and everyone must play their part. I don’t deny that. At the same time though, America is heading into a very traumatic period, and in moments of trauma people retreat to their own, they don’t arbitrarily hold hands with strangers. This is what makes black people that would rather die than be unified with each other easy pickings for the political machine. America and it’s politics are predicated off of you forsaking your history to uphold the ideals of “America”, i.e. the banking elite and oil magnates that Obama shills for.
Are black people in the process of “revamping” the government, lmao? Brother have you studied this system and how it is run? Not how it’s designed to run, but the motivations of the people that run it? I honestly don’t think that you understand what you’re saying in regards to this issue. To infiltrate any system, you must have people in the system that want to allow you in. Do you believe that white people want to change the status quo when they have the upper hand? What you’ll notice if you pay attention is that even the black politicians, especially the black politicians, are usually wicked as hell because they have to have some dirt on them for the white man to trust them. The white man is not going to slit his own throat. It’s just not going to happen. Notice that the other races have more power in America than black people do and they are not pushing a candidate for presidential office, nor do they aspire to. Why is that?

If you don’t think that Obama is genuine in his desire to make a difference in the lives of Black Amerians and all Americans, then don’t vote for the man, it’s as simple as that. I guess because Obama is not approaching “Black issues” in the way that you would like him to, then that means that he doesn’t really care, right? Or it could be that he really does care, that he cares deeply about the issues facing Black Americans, but he has to work within the power structure and in the midst of White racism and because of that he can’t say or do whatever he wants to when it comes to reaching out to the Black community. You have some time to complain about the efforts (or perceived lack of efforts) of other Black people, but what you done to help the Black community? It’s easy to look down and criticize what others are doing (or trying to do) if you aren’t doing anything to make changes yourself. A “real Brother” is someone who dares to challenge the power structure and force the nation to look at a Black man as a legitimate leader for this nation, and because of Obama, many Whites and other non-Blacks are doing just that. You can call him “white power in Black face”, you can say he’s an Uncle Tom, you can say whatever you want to about him. But this man is literally putting his life on the line everyday that he goes out to campaign, and for that alone I respect him and his efforts. You may not agree with his approach, you may not think he’s doing enough to show that he’s “pro-Black”, but what he’s doing (and what he could do if elected President) is probably more than what you’ll ever do in an effort to help the “the brothers and sisters”.

You give me alot of credit, lol. Am I “dividing black Americans”? For me to divide black people, that would mean that black people are unified. Are black people unified? Is Obama trying to challenge the “white power structure”? What does that mean? Can you expound on what the “white power structure” is and how he is challenging it? Is he challenging it because he is a black man? A structure is a system. Is he challenging the system or is he a part of the system? If he is a threat to the “white power structure”, why are white people behind him? I know that the “brothers and sisters” may not mean anything to a simpleton like yourself because they’re not on TV in front to 200,000 germans, lol.
What I’m doing to help the black community is not an issue because, according to black people, Obama is not indebted to the black community so you should not be concerned about what anyone is doing for blacks if you’re not concerned about what the man that you want to lead you is doing for you. When you say that he is “forcing the nation” to view a black man as a legitimate leader, what does that mean? Do you believe that he came out of nowhere? He generated the highest amount of campaign funds in the history of America. Do you think that he did that off of his message? To generate money, people must INVEST in you with the prospect of a return on that investment. No disrespect, some of you black people are too simple for words.
You coons go ahead and lambaste the brothers that stand up for their own people (like the ones in the video) so that you can chant along with the white man and the white woman, smh. You’ll all have the same idiotic faces that you normally have when your plans to force unity with the caucasian fails yet again. Do you think that whites and the other races that claim to love Obama feel the same way about every black man? What will Obama do if elected? Is he going to retain the same school curriculum that encourages blacks like you (if you’re even black) to view whites as heroes and as people whose opinions you should care for? Is he going to change the rampant gangs and drug trade that is aimed at the black community by the U.S. government? I already know that when I address the new negro cult leader I will have to handle zombies.

Was it well said? Then how come you didn’t say it? No disrespect, but many of you black men are following behind these sisters in your Obama worship because you have no thought process of your own.

Judah, you are filled with hate and you are feeding right into what White racists in this country want to see, Black people working against one another, I don’t care how intelligent and thought-out you think your opinions are. You are true to the description of “crabs in a barrel” That’s my opinion of you, and I’m sticking to it. Oh and to say that what you’re doing (or NOT doing) for the Black community isn’t an issue is a cop out, a BIG cop out! You aren’t doing crap (I want to say the “other” word, but we’re trying to have an intelligent discussion here). You are disturbed “my brother”, and I would suggest that you get some help for all the anger and frustration that you possess.
