POLITICS: OBAMA & MCCAIN COMIC BOOK HEROES / OBAMA’S LEAD DWINDLING / MCCAIN LIES / OBAMA PLAYING RACE GAME?

Friday, August 1, 2008

bobamaaction.jpg

US presidential rivals Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and Republican presidential candidate John McCain are now comic book heroes.

The presumptive nominees for the White House are featured in two new graphic novels that chart each man’s bid to become the next President of the Unites States of America. Each senator appears on the cover of his own book, posed like a superhero standing in front of the American flag. The books, published by IDW Publishing, go on sale October 8th.

OBAMA’S LEAD DWINDLING

bobamasmile.gif Earlier this week, I inaccurately reported that Sen. Barack Obama was leading Sen. John McCain with the largest margin.

In fact, Obama’s lead has decreased over the last few days.

According to Thursday’s Gallup Daily,

The race for the presidency has moved back into a statistical tie…with Barack Obama now ahead of John McCain by just one percentage point, 45 to 44.

Obama and McCain are statistically tied in Florida and Ohio, two key states in the upcoming general election.

MCCAIN LIES ABOUT OBAMA’S TAX CHOICE

Non-partisan FactCheck.org has examined the recent claim by Republican presidential candidate John McCain that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said he’ll raise taxes on electricity and discovered it’s false.

From their findings:

“McCain relies on a single quote from Obama who once—and only once so far as we can find—suggested taxing “dirty energy,” including coal and natural gas. That was in response to a reporter’s suggestion that a tax on wind power could fund education. Obama isn’t proposing any new tax on electricity or “dirty energy” as part of his platform, and he never has.”

OBAMA PLAYING RACE GAME?

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, the McCain campaign opens its mouth and utter nonsense comes out.

On Thursday, it accused Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama of playing racial politics after he predicted Republicans would try to scare voters by pointing out that “he doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills”.

According to a statement issued by McCain’s campaign manager, Rick Davis, Obama “played the race card, and he played it from the bottom of the deck”. He went on to call Obama’s remarks “divisive, negative, shameful and wrong”. This, after McCain’s camp released an ad that compared Obama to the likes of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.

Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs explained that the senator was not referring to race:
What Barack Obama was talking about was that he didn’t get here after spending decades in Washington. There is nothing more to this than the fact that he was describing that he was new to the political scene. He was referring to the fact that he didn’t come into the race with the history of others. It is not about race.”

In response to the ad at a rally in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Thursday, Obama said, “I do have to ask my opponent: Is that the best you can come up with?”

While at a rally in Racine, Wisconsin, McCain said, “We’re proud of that commercial.”

Obama added:

“Given the seriousness of the issues; given the fact that the decisions we make right now are going to help determine the future not just of the next generation but perhaps generations after that; given the magnitude of our challenges when it comes to energy and health care and jobs and our foreign policy; you’d think we’d been having a serious debate. But so far all we’ve been hearing about is Paris Hilton and Britney Spears.”

ffI have been a faithful voter for many years and I am 35 years old and never answer the polls. This is the enemy trying to plant a seed of discard. Let’s keep our eyes on the prize and remember when GOD is in the mist satin has to show up. If we stay on track and remain faithful, God will get the victory.

Someone is fooling around with the numbers. We know that Mccain isn’t the next president. The man is trying his best to taint Obama’s image with his wack a** lies that’s flooding the media. Mccain sucks.

Obama will win.

John McCain is low. Unfortunately, many members of the general public are as low as he is and they like his mud-slinging. Obama is different from so many other presidents and it’s not just because of race. If JFK had made the same comment, he could not be accused of ‘playing the race card.’ It’s the same kind of deal.

On that note, no matter whom you support, we all have to get out and vote when the time comes.

And I don’t see why McCain would say he is proud of that lame commercial.

Basically, when it comes down to it, these “National Polls” are meaningless. National Polls don’t count. What really matters are the staby state polls. If you look at the current electoral map, this race isn’t even close. By my latest estimate, Barack Obama currently has about 238 electoral votes that are either locks or leaning his way. He only needs to get 32 more electoral votes to win. That 238 is not even counting Florida or Ohio (both states that BUSH won in 2004). It is statistically possible that Obama loses both Florida and Ohio but still wins the Presidency. By contrast, McCain has about 163 Electoral votes that are locks or leaning his way. This means that even with the close races Nationally, Obama still has a nice sized lead where is counts.

John McCain is realy getting desparate. If you look at his “Celeb” attack ad, it’s basically nothing but Barack Obama. You see John McCain for 3 seconds!!! In Obama’s ads, even when he criticizes McCain, Obama still leaves time to tell you about himself. That is McCain’s problem, he has NO SOLUTIONS, NO INNOVATIVE PLANS, NOTHING. He wants to continue the same failed policies of the Bush years. That’s why McCain is being overlooked and people around the world are focused on Obama.

This is gettin’ out of hand. I wish they would look for the best candidate opposed to their race. This doesn’t go on when you have 2 white candidates running for presidency. Society has completely turned this into a racial campaign.

Those polls are suspect. Has anyone on CL been polled? Nobody asked me shit. I was watching CNN last night and the question was “Do you still think Obama is a Muslim?” They went to a Hillbilly cracker ass town in Tennessee. Tennessee? And everyone that they questioned, even the mayor said, “Hell yeah, Obama is a Muslim.” Now these are fucking people who believe Elvis is still alive and believe in UFO’s. What I am saying here is these people aren’t brightest on the planet and of course, racist as hell. The worst combination you can find. So when they poll or take surveys they deliberately pick these towns where they know they’ll get the results they are looking for.

John McCain is the weakest Rebulican candidate EVER!! And yet, he is still on the heels of Obama…Why might this be??? Maybe because hard working, blue collar uneducated white americans would rather have an old, out of touch, forgetfull, Bush wanna be as president than to have an educated, articulate, insightful, common sense having, raised by a single parent, then by grandparents, just paid off a student loan, bi-racial BLACK MAN (who alot of us can relate to because of how he was raised -with no silver spoon in his mouth) as president!!! Don’t even get me started on the democrates who once stood beside us to get Bill Clinton in the white house, but they now stand next to McCain because they sill MAD because Hillary lost!! McCain’s commercials are STUPID!! All he does is attack Obama and he NEVER says what HE can do in his own commercials!! His whole stratagy is HOPING Obama messes us and hoping that he and the rebulicans can scare enough people to not vote for Obama….And guess what….IT’S WORKING!!

It seems to me as if McCain is becoming a little insecure about Obama’s possibility for presidency and he like Clinton is using any tactic to make him look bad. I mean really a Paris HIlton and Britney Spears comparison?

They haven’t polled anyone but McCain’s people. They didn’t want it too seem that Obama was killing him. When you go on the political blogs and listen to those comments McCain is not neck an neck with Barak. That is why he is coming out with all of the negative and silly adds.

its so close because they [the establishment] is getting ready to steal this election. mccain and the republicans are running an effective campaign w/ emphasis on race which they have done a good job dividing the white and the black vote. then you got ludacris talking about painting the white house black ; which fox news channel is eating it up, talking about it while flashing barack and ludacris picture across the screen. [repeatedly] “ITS CALLED GUILT BY ASSOICATION”. THE VAST MAJORITY of the white vote obama had, has flipped. and barack’s in springfield mo. where then people in that state put the red in REDNECK talking about ‘ i don’t look like them presidents that are on the dollar bills. them folks don’t give a damn and won’t have no sympathy for you no matter what. i had asked black folks in previous post to take an inventory of ourselves. now don’t you people see why? it was a ignorant thing for ludacris to come out w/ something so stupid and devisive it shows even with money, like the straw man on the wizard of oz. this ludacris needs to purchase a BRAIN. you should of seen how fox/bill o’reilly flashed rev.wright- and ludacris picture w/ barack all segment long planting that seed of doubt in the white folks head. and there are not enough far left white folks or black votes to get barack in the white house so he needs some votes folks of people on the other side. and black people of our own race have put this election of barack’s run for president in peril. thanks to LUDA, NAS , REV.WRIGHT, JESSE [JUDAS] JACKSON, MR.SPIKE [CHOCOLATE CITY] LEE. AND OTHERS who’s ignorance and self promoting have costs the only chance in my life time to see a black man be the leader of the free world. all of you; instead of keeping quiet w/ tact and dignity you chose to show your true color and i question your motives or is it just your plain retarted. well whatever CAN YOU PEOPLE OF THIS ILK keep your mouth shut until after NOV. 4 i think it might be to late but don’t sink the ship any more than you people have.

This campaign has the Republicans shaking in their boots right now! All the Republicns that switched to Democrats to support Hillary are now going for McCain. I just pray that Obama can still pull it out by obtaining more votes from the younger generation that never voted in the past but have stepped up to the mic now that he is a nominee.

McCain and his party will try any and all scare tactics to pull out a win. If this should happen, it will be a prophecy of the same bull as we’ve seen with Dubya continued. There will be no change in the economy, gas prices will continue to soar along with food prices, the rich will stay rich by HUGE tax breaks and the freedom to hide money in offshore accounts to prevent taxation, affirmative action will be a distant memory and we will still be BROKE & BLACK in America.

Go Obama 2008! God Bless us ALL!

I look it this way….let me be surprise when the election comes. Even though Obama is getting all the media attention righ now but guess what, do you think there is a good chance of him winning? We all saw what happen when we tried not to put Bush in the office 8 years ago. We all knew then that the economy was going downhill when Bush was trying to get in the office? So who fault was that? Everyone is a little skeptical about Obama more so than McCain. I want to be surprise at the end.

McCain is getting on my damn nerves already. We aint even at the damn November election yet, and he’s irking me. He says the most retarded and redundant sh*t sometimes.

Im not going to give up hope in Obama. McCain can take the lead and be ahead by 5 percentage points. But look where we were with Clinton and Obama? Look at how Obama came and stole that democratic nomination from her. And we’re in August. McCain has 3 months to continue to say something dumb and mess up his chances. And I got a funny feeling he’s going to say something retarded 1 week before the election. Just like the jackass he is.

If I were you J. Dakar, I’d suspend from blurring the lines of impartiality with regards to this Presidential contest. Headlines like “McCain lies” and the such are not helping what should be a nation-wide attempt to have a decent, about-the-issues Presidential campaign. I’m not saying exposing rhetorical falsehoods about the candidates is wrong, I’m just saying its kind of fruitless if you’re not also reporting the falsehoods Sen. Obama has used in his own rhetoric.

@13: John McCain is far from the “weakest Republican candidate,” lest we forget Robert Dole (96)? Or Gerald Ford (76)? Or Herbet Hoover (32)? Goodness, get a history lesson. If anything, McCain possesses the kind of solid tangibles that have allowed him to remain credible in this race. In a year when Republicanism is toxic, McCain can rely upon a solid reputation of indepedence to keep his prospects alive. No other Republican running this year would be as competitive.

As far as polls are concerned, none of them matter in August. National (and especially state) polls will only matter until after the first debate, until then they’re pointless. Also, lets not forget the “Bradley Factor” when assessing Obama’s numbers. I would contend that we could probably shave off 5-10% of Obama’s support just when calculating those folks who lied to the pollster so they wouldn’t come off as racist by not supporting Barack, but when they enter the polling station, they’ll vote against him. That is a proven factor, and it will most certainly play a role in this election.
