POLITICS: OBAMA ON REPARATIONS + REPUBLICANS GAG / PARIS RESPONDS TO MCCAIN AD / NEW MOCK CAMPAIGN ADS

Wednesday, August 6, 2008

bobamasmile.gif
Following the House’s recent apology for slavery and segregation, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said, “I have said in the past — and I’ll repeat again — that the best reparations we can provide are good schools in the inner city and jobs for people who are unemployed.”

According to Kibibi Tyehimba, co-chair of the National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America, “Let’s not be naive. Sen. Obama is running for president of the United States, and so he is in a constant battle to save his political life. In light of the demographics of this country, I don’t think it’s realistic to expect him to do anything other than what he’s done.”

Last week, Obama said that inflating tires to their correct levels could help people save fuel. Mark Salter, a top aide to Republican presidential candidate John McCain, gave reporters tire gauges inscribed with the words: “Obama’s energy plan”.

At a town hall rally in Ohio, Obama stated his plans to encourage the development of alternative fuels and his energy tax rebate proposal and added that Republicans were “lying about what my energy plan is”:

“The other thing is, they are making fun of a step that every expert says would absolutely reduce our oil consumption by three to four percent,” Obama said. “It’s like these guys take pride in being ignorant. They think it’s funny that they’re making fun of something that is actually true.”

PARIS RESPONDS TO MCCAIN AD

Responding to the McCain campaign’s use of her image in a controversial ad last week, Paris Hilton created a satirical ad of her own.

Dressed in a bathing suit, the 27-year-old threw her hat into the U.S. presidential race proclaiming:

“Hey America, I’m Paris Hilton and I’m a celebrity too. Only I’m not from the olden days and I’m not promising change like that other guy. I’m just hot. But then that wrinkly white-haired guy used me in his campaign ad, which I guess means I’m running for president. So thanks for the endorsement white-haired dude, and I want America to know I’m, like, totally ready to lead.”

Hilton also offers an alternative energy plan, combining elements from Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama: “We can do limited offshore drilling with strict environmental oversight while creating tax incentives to get Detroit making hybrid and electric cars…Energy crisis solved, I’ll see you at the debates, bitches!” Hilton then declares she’s working on picking a vice president. “I’m thinking Rihanna,” she said.

NEW MOCK CAMPAIGN ADS

Republican and Democratic presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama will appear in taped mock campaign ads during Thursday’s season finale of NBC’s Last Comic Standing.

Obama’s ad pokes fun at his poor bowling skills, and McCain is declared not funny, but funny looking. These light-hearted appearances are fitting following the intense back-and-forth nature of recent campaign ads between the two White House hopefuls.

I am so sick of negroes making excuses for obama. If obama can fight for every special interest group but black americans, and if america is so rascist that they would vote for a man and support a man who is so spineless that he will fight for only powerful whites, then WE DON’T NEED THIS BLACK PRESIDENT! How can black people or FAIR MINDED white people support this spineless jelly fish.

Every word that comes out of his mouth, is in support of white rascist and their evil ways. He is making it clear that he will continue their agenda to destroy the black man with prisons, joblessness, use us for guinea pigs to test toxic HIV meds, deny us reparations LONG OVERDUE all the while giving billions in foreign aid, and still some blacks continue to support this white rascist in black face. Might as well vote for the Imperial Wizard.

Sacrificing millions of black men just to have one black president, does not serve the greatest good for the black community.

Paris, lets be for real. You are trash with money, very few people are saying it because you’re white and blonde. Somehow its cute for you to make sex tapes in hotels, to be scantly clad, and to be uneducated. I don’t feel sorry for you as a black woman who has to be on top of her game at all times, and may still get made fun of because I’m successful, not because I’m a bimbo.

Secondly, if the actual slaves were still alive, I would be all for reparations. Instead of trying to get a check, we need to invest in our schools and communities. Theresa, this man has passed civil rights legislation on hate crimes, police brutality, he has supported educational bills that affects the black community everyday…I am sick of us thinking that someone has to cow tow and kiss our butts to get our vote. Hell, it hasn’t been asked of white folk in the past, and sure as hell shouldn’t be asked of a QUALIFIED black man. I am starting to ask the question, do we deserve a qualified president whether he’s black or white? Obama cannot be president based on 13% of the population, and I bet if we broke down his contributions, I wonder how much 13% has donated to the cause. We just as silly as white folk.

25.

dukesman2000

Wednesday, August 6, 2008 /

Even though I would love to get some money from the government in the form of reparations for slavery, I know that is not feasible and it would not help anything in the future. It will only be a short term fix. I know my Black people, majority of us would not invest the money wisely and it would just end up back in the hands of government through foreclosures, government liens etc. So I believe Obama’s idea is valid. But I take it further…give every Black person in America tuition free college education. I think that is more realistic and will be more beneficial to our race…

Paris Hilton called McSame a “wrinkly old man”…now that is funny. She should have flashed a picture of a T-Rex in background when talking about McCain, because he got short ass arms like a T-Rex.

Now as usual the republicans are taking Obama’s words out of context. Obama said inflating our tires and regular tune ups would “help” on reducing the car’s gas consumption. They are spinning it as if he means, that his energy plan, end all be all. Pathetic…

i knew that it was one big lie when our ancestors were promised 40 acres and a mule. this only goes to prove if your white its alright brown you get to stick around , but if your black GET back. OUR BLACK EXSISTENCE is in our own hands. but we are relianat on a gov’t that told the world “we will take care of our own” in katrina. and then proceeded to reroute tons of ice that would end up getting dumped costing millions and millions of dollars. which the monies when into the pockets of the vendors and good ol boy contrcators who were ex gov’t officials. rerouted trailers meant for housing rerouted to the northwest not south where they were needed. and the congress and the senate stood by and did nothing and all they offer is I’AM SORRY after the fact. and these are some of the same people who got in on some of the dirty funneled back door money profit. and still yet us black folks continue to fall for this okey doke. and these people will show you come november how they really feel about you. if you go south right now its like going backj in a time warp, its like something out of “GONE W/ THE WIND”. THAT white man struts along w/ his white woman like they are bannie roosters and bannie hens. black folks now there place down there to this day. but will kill a black or each other at the drop of a hat. and this is on a daily basis. its where EDUCATION and the ENGLISH SKILLS AND COMPREHENSION ability of a person is not a priority. where a young pre teen girl [black] is at the library STRUGGLING W/ A WHITE TUTOR to read a SIMPLE book. AND your black folks are running around to conventions EACH WEEK why don’t you so-called a.k.a.’s start a chater school where reading and english skills are a mandatory step to learning which continues all though out the learning years of schooling 1 thur 12. now thats a community service you people should get with.

I am so awed by the opinions in these comments. I for one agree with number 28.

OBAMA is not a spokesperson for black people or black america. He is running for the office of the president of the UNITED STATES and last i checked.. that office encompasses ALL of the US, every citizen. It is not his job to uplift black people, but to take care of everyone.

Get at your man reverend jesse jackson who is supposed to be doing that. That dude has hella kids, cheated on his wife numerous times. and is a man of the cloth. No he isnt running for the presidency but id say he is doing more harm to the black community than Obama.

Sweet_Lies you’re thinking is all wrong and pointing fingers to the entire race of black, when it’s not all black people who have the same mode of thinking. I am black and I don’t look at Obama as being the next Martin Luther King Jr. I admire his confidence, leadership, and motivation for wanting to become a president; coming from the African American race. Though he is biracial, in reality, to White America, a tinge of black in your blood, means that you’re pure black. Obama gives hope to our falling black men that they too can actually have his confidence, leadership, and motivation to do anything that so called America portrayed that black people could never do or amount to do.

He is a voice for both black and whites and has experienced the hardships, prejudices, and discrimation from both views, so I think he is a perfect example to become president. He is who will make a big difference. It’s said that diversity is best and I agree. It’s time for a different race to become the president and hopefully more races will be awarded the opportunity as well. But Obama need to win this one.

GO OBAMA!!!!!!! : )

———–Don’t say that. Obama is the “Messiah”. It’s common sense and common

———–You don’t go from the sky downwards. Your post makes perfect sense to

Judah, what if Obama wasn’t running for President, what if no Black person were running for President in this election, would you still be talking about the “last days” of captivity for Black Americans? For all your claims that Black people who support Obama see him as a “Messiah”, considering how angry you are with him it seems as though you were the one who looked at him as a messianic figure who was going to save the Black race. And because he’s shown that he’s running for President of the United States and not President of Black America, you are angry that he’s not only focusing on “Black issues”.

————I’m not angry at Obama. He’s a devil and he’s not of my people. He is being

————dude is being used by the elite to bring black people into their fold and put
————their entire spirit into maintaining America no matter what the issues are in
————the BLACK COMMUNITY. This is what black people should be concerned
————with. When I hear black people talk about “all America” I have no respect for
————them and they’re traitors to their people and their ancestors. “All America’s”
————women don’t have the highest rate of AIDS, black women do. “All America’s”

Yes Judah! I was speaking to you regards to the post #39!

FYI Concreteloop, I can’t see the left side of any comment pages…what can I do to fix that!.

Back to Judah!

While I don’t disagree to most of the things you wrote…I wander, according to you, what should be the fix up for our communities? We finally have a figure that could approach those “elites” but according to some black folks like yourself, that isn’t enough.
I think the issue with Black america isn’t soo much about the AIDS, HIV, fatherless homes and violence of the streets….I think the real issue is about Blacks finding a spot in this country. You’ve cited this yourself in your post!

And I have another question: How do Blacks adjust themselves and find their place in a country that doesn’t seem to take them in consideration? Should the solution be that black folks remain the black of the ying yang or mold with white america like it should be? Or should we rely on a sole figure as a sign of hope? And really, could this sole figure be that one key?

I personally don’t care…I’m not American!

45.

JUDAH

Thursday, August 7, 2008 /

————-@SoWhat

————-First off sis, you have to calm down, lol. I already stated what we, as regular
————-black people MUST do if we hope to improve our living situations and
————-communities on this earth while there is still an earth. Build from the ground
————-UPWARDS, not deify some man as a hope to do things that he has no
————-intention of doing. Black people already have a “spot” in this country and it
————-will be the “spot” that we have until we become self-determined. You cannot
————-improve your situation without self-determination, and you cannot be self-
————-determined when you are more concerned with the plight of others than with
————-your own plight.

————-Let me ask you a question, because you asked me a loaded question which
————-shows that you already know the answer. You asked me how blacks adjust
————-themselves and “find their place” in a country that “doesn’t take us into
————-consideration”. That’s like asking where can one find a drink of water in the
————-Sahara Desert. A desert is not meant to sustain, it’s meant to destroy you
————-slowly unless you know the way out. You said “should blacks mold with
————-whites as it should be”. “Should be” based on who’s sense of self-
————-righteousness? If the races were meant to all cohabit and co-mingle, they
————-would’ve done it seamlessly from the beginning of time. Race mixture is
————-always indicative of confusion and an empire when we study history. That is
————-irrefutable.

————-No “sole figure” will redeem this earth other than Christ and his innumerable
————-angelic multitude. If you are not an American and don’t care, why are you
————-engaging me?

46.

sowhat_123456

Thursday, August 7, 2008 /

“vIf you are not an American and don’t care, why are you engaging me?”

I am engaging because like the rest of non-Black Americans, we are sitting back and watching these elections as closely as you are. But what intrigues me and partially infuriates me is this sense of revendication of some blacks towards a potential key figure for African Americans and Black alike.

I hate to speak for the rest of non-black americans but if one african American can make it to the oval office, surely this is a jab at this racial caste system that man kind has socially constructed for itself.

Statistics state all sorts of diseases and habits that most African Americans are probable of making or contracting but the statistics of successful African American are always underrepported and sometimes hidden; and this is where I could agree with your self-determination proposal…but, once more, as statistic show…thats unlikely to happen!

This is an opportunity of a life time for Black Americans and to poo-poo it is as about as stupid as refusing a million dollars…why not embrace it? And rather than being skeptical of Obama towards the Black Community, why can’t we be faithful. He’s black and he shared the same struggles. It wasn’t as easy for him to get where he is either!

Lastly, we waited for the good Christ for years…some other people need his help, we can assure our own existence ourselves…at least thats if we want to.

47.

sowhat_123456

Thursday, August 7, 2008 /

And I am engaging you because, and please don’ t take this personally, but I was always told that someone who speaks to loudly doesn’t do!

We may argue here about Obama but there is one thing that you are both doing: you’re both relying on this vague mystical wave to sweep over the black community which will catalyser some sort of change. I just wanted to know exactly what would be the plan. We talk about change, than whats the plan?

I still support Obama, but I need some sort of blue print of this “change”!

@ Judah…

I read your comments and the more I read them, the more concerned I am about your motives. You are an angry black man and you should be, but your anguish has distorted your judgment. You have doomed the black race, but yet still I haven’t read anywhere in your comments where you have laid out a plan that you think will help move this race forward. You detest Barack Obama for your own reasons (which I think are off centered, but they are your reasons) but you don’t know that you are being more divisive than helpful.

You said Obama is the devil and he is not of your people…Who are your people and what religion do you subscribe to? What Obama represents to us Black people is hope. We are not naïve to think that this man is going to come in a change a racist system that has been operating for hundreds of years. Absolutely not! But breaking chains have become the norm for Black people and that would another barrier collectively hurdled by Black people. This is not about Obama…in fact his is bigger than Obama this is about black people. What are you about Negro?

———-Brother, you have been against my comments concerning Obama from the
———-very beginning and will continue to be. That is fine because you and I both
———-know that you cannot justify anything concerning this man other than
———-speculation and as you call it “hope”. A “devil” is a deceiver. The so-called
———-white man is the archdeceiver but he has devils of each race in his employ.
———-It’s inherently necessary because for one to deceive, he must first establish
———-trust. Look at you for example. You believe in (trust) this man for no other
———-reason other than he is a black man. That is weak and weak-hearted. Now I
———-would love to have an in depth discussion with you, but I have no doubt that
———-my comment will be filtered. If this is bigger than Obama, and it is about
———-”black people”, someone better tell him and his followers that, because he
———-has never espoused that in the least. The only public proclamation of
———-affiliation that he has made is to the white jews. Period.

———–”Mother Africa” so damn much? Take a plane to the “motherland” and live
———–happily ever after. Why stay in America if you love Africa and everything that
———–most of you believe is based off carnality? In the history of the civil rights

Thursday, August 7, 2008 /

@Judah,
You are on point with most of your thoughts. There’s something about Obama that just doesn’t sit well with me, but I can’t explain it. I do think that we, as black people need to pay closer attention to all the media outlets and what’s going on. They are the biggest liars out there - just wanting us to hate the Clintons (just an example). I continue to pay close attention to what’s going on - and don’t believe everything I hear and see. This lovefest with Obama is sickening.

55.

dukesman2000

Thursday, August 7, 2008 /

@ Judah

That is where you are wrong, brother.

I am voting for Barack Obama because like I said he represents hope, he represents another barrier falling as far as Black people plight in America is concerned. I believe he has the best interest at heart for America. He will lift America’s foot off the necks of all these non white nations and give genuine help where needed, not in the form of exploitation. He will make others in the global community look at America in a favorable light and not as a pariah as it is seen today.

Obama transcends the racial “pigeon hole” white America having been keeping black people in for all these years. He has shattered all stereotypes of the lazy, “good for nothing” black man in America. He is a family man who hasn’t’ been married two or three times. He is active in his children’s life. As a father myself I can appreciate that because dead beats are synonymous with Black Men. He has revealed to the world something America has been ignoring for hundreds of years; the fact that if you give the Black man the opportunity he will not only perform but he will perform better than his white counterparts. And yes I am voting for Barack Obama for all the aforementioned qualities AND also because he black. But what is wrong with that? My vote is not empty and solely based on race. Messy Jesse did not move me. Al Sharpton did not move. So I am not subscribing to tribalism as you may have put it but my attraction is based on substance, brother. However, the problem lies with you who choose to ignore all these qualities and cast aspersion for no other reason other than he is BLACK. Dude you act as if you are militant and a revolutionary but it is all fallacy. You are nothing but an ignorant self hating Negro who doesn’t believe in himself and doesn’t believe anything good can come from the black race. You have accepted defeat, my brother; therefore, you just sit on the sidelines with heap of rocks to fling for no reason.

————-@Dukesman

————-Brother, this is the last time I’m going to discourse with you about Obama
————-because I don’t have spiritual powers and cannot break the spell that he has
————-cast over you through the manipulation of the American media
————-conglomerate. Besides that, I see that you’re getting emotional because
————-you know that when your beliefs are tested over the fire, they have no
————-substance, they’re counterfeit. Everything that you speak on pertaining to
————-this man is what you “believe” he is going to do, not what he himself has
————-done, said, or promised. Has he ever made a commitment to the black
————-community like he has frequently made to the white jews? Why is that sir?
————-I’m a realist, I speak real, I ask real questions, and I demand real answers.
————-No disrespect brother, but you have a very effeminate mode of thought. The
————-problems in the black community are not seen in any other community and
————-they demand special attention. He cannot and will not provide that attention.
————-He has no intent to. If you can’t grasp that, if it bruises your fragile ego and
————-sensitive sensibilities I have no idea what to tell you.

————-You said that he’s shatttered all racial stereotypes of the black male, lol?
————-What is your proof for that statement? Have black men stopped being
————-racially profiled? Have they started getting “equal” opportunities in corporate
————-America? Brother please, don’t B.S. me and don’t get irate because I don’t
————-subscribe to the same simplicity as you. Where did I say that I was casting
————-aspersion on Obama because you think he is black? Brother, if you’re going
————-to debate me you must not only have your facts straight, negro you need
————-facts, lol. At this very moment that Obama is allegedly shattering these
————-myths, the government is working on strategies to destroy affirmative action
————-and quota based hiring. The problem with you is that you’re desperate but
————-you’re proud. That is a bad combination. I’ve never said that I was either
————-”militant” nor “revolutionary”. I’m a man and I transcend labels that simple
————-people put on me to understand common sense. If a dog attacks you and
————-you attack the dog back, does that make you a dog abuser, lol? Brother
————-step your mental game up and pay attention to what is going on around you,
————-and more importantly, why.

———–@Dukesman

———-Everytime black people start to have real conversations, the comments start
———-to get moderated. Brother look at it this way. They saved you the
———-embarassment of losing. Now you can just say “disqualification by default”,
———-lol. I’m just messing with you brother but you know damn well you can’t
———-justify this dude in relation to assisting the black community. At least not to
———-a negro like me.

Question??

Thursday, August 7, 2008 /

You know what since we black people want reparations so much maybe they should gave it to us. But I will be lmbao when they give us the reparations check. How much do u think 40 acres and a mule is worth today? Not jack s**t. Most of you’ll wont admit that u rather have money than a education. Educaction will get u more money than a reparations check would. Even if Obama plans to give us a reparation check, he has to go thru Congress and Congress would vote agianst. Even if Obama veto Congress vote, they would just do another recount and vote agianst it agian. So would u rather have the money or a free education? Aint we the ones always bawling about we dont have good schools??

OMG! Dukesman and Judah! I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE intellectual conversation on issues that matter! I can appreciate both your views for what they are and as a Black woman, I have “hope” in Barack Obama because clearly John McCain will continue what Dubya and his father started. Enough of the madness!

Carry on! Peace!

Barack Obama might just be the United States of America’s first African-American president. John McCain might just be the United States of America’s oldest elected president.
